Since this app looks for new photos in the background, it means you only need to set it up and customise once and then you'll never need to think about it again. Just sit back and enjoy watching new and old photos alike, from your own collection as well as any chosen friends and family.
** Setting your Screensaver **
To set this app to become your default screensaver, follow these instructions by Google (https://support.google.com/androidtv/answer/6123262?hl=en-GB):
1. From Android TV’s Home screen, scroll down until you reach Settings.
2. Select Settings
3. Select Device Preferences
4. Select Screen saver
5. Select "Photo Screensaver and Gallery" from the options.

You can choose how long it takes for your screensaver to start when you’re not using your Android TV. Here’s how:
1. From Android TV’s Home screen, scroll down until you reach Settings.
2. Select Settings
3. Select Device Preferences
4. Select Screen saver
5. Select "When to start from the options.

While watching TV the screensaver comes on and interrupts the program. Have tried multiple ways to disable it. I have NVDIA Shield and wonder if this is the bug that has been previously reported? When uninstalled, Android's generic screensaver works properly. Google Play refused to refund as it took longer for me to problem solve, but Furnaghan refunded my money. For that reason, changed stars from 1-4.

I love your screensaver and the options to display optional data (filename, location etc.) on the picture. When I bring company home, Google Home starts up my TV. I would like it to also start up your screensaver right away. Is there any way that you know that I can do that? There is an app called Quick Remote for Roku that Google can talk with and it can tell Google how to move the cursor to control apps on the Roku like a remote control. I just can't find a screensaver on Roku as nice as yours. Any ideas what I could use to have your screensaver start up with my Google Home returning home routine? I know this isn't an issue with your app, I am just looking for someway to use it even more. Thanks.

Love the app. except for one unfortunate issue. Paid for both gallery and screensaver add on.. Love the UI and features. I am using the collage layout as screensaver with google photos album as source.. The layout and transition animations on the Screensaver work great until it freezes after 5 mins. I noticed this behaviour on Nvidia Shield TV and XGIMI Halo Projector.. 5 stars for sure once this issue is fixed. Also 4K support for android 11 and an option to overlay date and weather info on the screensaver would be great. Please keep the great work going. Your app could save a lot of old tablets from becoming e waste.

There is a bug: w all settings, the display of pictures is still not consistent. For example, if I set the picture refresh rate at, say 5 or 10 seconds in the "slide" mode, sometimes, there is a 5-10 second gap (black screen) between pictures & sometimes not (even without making any changes to settings). Sometimes, album information shows up on screen even when turned OFF. I have purchased the screensaver & would like to use it on multiple TVs in the same house. Hope I will not need to pay for each TV separately. Will find out soon.

Absolutely “loved” this app. It “worked” flawlessly until the update now it doesn’t start most of the time while shutting down my shield which is well over half the time it’s scheduled to start. It also now has this annoying bar on the bottom of the screen that shows the progress of the video and lI can’t figure out how to get rid of it. It takes away from its beauty but when the screen saver does actually load it is still beautiful.

This app was very easy to install and intuitive setting up and connecting it to a source was pretty straight forward. A word of warning (or advice) at least for the 2015 Nvidia Shield. I ended up playing around a lot with my albums, deleting and adding to the albums and syncing this app each time. After doing this several times, I noticed that pictures stopped rotating, you would get what was originally put on the splash screen and it would never rotate out. On the collage there was a symptom that I would get some pictures and then boxes where pictures belonged on the screen, but instead it had black spaces. The fix for this was to go into the application settings and deleting out the cache for the application. Once I did this and synced my source again, everything started working as normal.

This app is great! I use it as a photo frame on my television to display family photos/videos via my Nvidia Shield Pro. The only problem with it, is recently it started showing an incorrect date for all my videos, it says they were all taken "January 18, 1970". Which is very strange and random. I hope it gets patched soon. Other than this issue, it's great. There's a lot of features and options to personalize it.

Had an issue and the developer fixed it after posting the issue in a review here. It sounds like success depends on device compatibility, which is common in Android. It may not work on everything but it works well when it works on your device. My Sony TV did cook multiple photo thumb drives but we discovered that was probably a Sony TV hardware bug and not this app.

Worked okay (except for occasionally losing connection to network drive) until I upgraded Shield TV to Android 11. Now the app no longer sees the network drive. Makes it unusable for me. The recent change did not fix the problem. Now sees directory shares, but won't load photo albums. App is broken. Developer does not respond to email. Don't waste your time.

This app was one of our favorites on our 2 shield tv's and a Mi box. After a recent update. this app became total garbage and no longer works. Very disappointing to say the least. We have enjoyed for several years but I guess recent changes have become a huge step backwards. It no longer integrates with Google photos which is our issue.

Worth the price as an alternative to the default "Daydream" app from Google. Needs two things: The ability to loop the same video during screensaver playback for the duration of the interval between slides. IE, during screensaver mode with videos enabled, a video that comes up will only play for its duration or the selected slide interval, whichever is shorter. For shorter videos, it would be nice to have the option to enable 'loop video until next slide'. More diverse codec support. MP4 is supported, but WEBM and AVI are not.

Ever since my Sony 55X900E (android TV) updated about 3 weeks ago, I've had a problem caused by the screensaver. After exiting the screensaver, the select button no longer works on my remote. I've tried 2 remotes to the same issue. The issue doesn't recur if I try another screensaver or disable the "Photo Gallery and Screensaver" app. I have to hard reboot the TV to get the button to work. The problem is clearly caused by the app

I've given 2 stars out of 5 because that's about how often the screen saver starts properly without crashing my Nvidia Shield Pro. This issue was reported by other commentors (and acknowledged by the dev) as far back as May 2019. It's now the end of July 2020 and still no resolution. Feedback through email has so far been unresponsive. My recommendation is to save your money unless you enjoy turning your Shield back on multiple times after the screen saver crashes repeatedly. When it works, it works well, and I enjoy having my Google photos displayed on my TV. Unfortunately it's just too flaky and the devs are too unresponsive to be reliable or worth the money.

Having trouble after factory resetting tv - I love this app in general but we just factory reset on our TV and now it says that I'm limited in my screensaver settings even though a second TV in the home shows it being purchased, so trying to figure out how to get it back on my resetted TV. Also can't seem to find anywhere to contact the developer and ask.

This app used to work very well as a screen saver. Then it stopped working as a screen saver for Chromecast key 6 months ago. I paid for the app to ensure that it was fully functional and I emailed the developer twice last November and December but never received any response. Seems like this app has been abandoned since there have been no updates since July 2022.

Ive never seen an app lose funcationality over time. It used to connect to dropbox which is why I bought it. Thats been removed. Then I connected over my LAN to my server, that stopped working. I finally bought a USB stick and will store the photos locally. Nope that doesnt work either. No matter how I setup the USB key it wont find the photos. Emailed support no reply.

Uninstalled to try to get latest version which developer said fixed a https: bug where aerial videos from apple wouldn't load. Initially responsive to my emails, the developer dropped off the face of the earth. I tried to uninstall and reinstall to see if that would fix it, and the app is no longer showing up in the shield's android store. It shows as not compatible with any of my devices on my PC, including the shield. Paid for in app purchases, wasted.

You'd think that granting Photo Gallery and Screensaver access to your photos and personal information would be enough to use a simple features, like viewing one's photos on your Android TV, for free. But no, it costs $2.99 to view ONE ALBUM. You can only view your Google Photos per album, not individual photos and videos. The UI was unresponsive when syncing. I had to completely uninstall it and reinstall the app to load changes to my albums. The search for a photo and video viewer continues...

This app worked great for six months or so after I purchased it. Then all the functionality of the full product disappeared like I never purchased. It was asking me to purchase again. Developer responded once to my query and stated their was an issue they were working on. It's been months and they are no longer responding to my messages. When it did work it was great.

Does not display local images. Says "storage/emulated/0" (no way to change that option) and there is absolutely no loading of any files placed in the internal root or in any other directory, rendering the program completely useless for my personal purposes. (And I'd give it some other rating if it didn't claim to be able to use local files. As it is, broken, 1 star.)
