Very very good. Much preferred to the "official" OpenVPN programs. Import functionality especially good. I would like there to see an export function added, such that I could save all current servers along with their passwords to prevent having to enter them on future devices.

If you're having authentication issues with your ASUS router, change the compatibility mode to 2.3 and older. I reached out to the developers on my issues and after very quick replies back and forth this was discovered. Support was fast and excellent! This app works perfectly! Many thanks to Arne for the help!

Nice app for VPN, Best features i like the most is the kill-switch and the pause option if screen is off (phone is idle), This help to conserve phone battery in comparison to other vpn apps wherein even thought the phone is idle and screen is off, VPN continues and phone battery drains. This app helps conserve battery drain. I have noticed one issue though if app owner can clarify on these options > in Allowed Apps 'VPN is used for all apps but exclude selected' 'VPN is used for only for selected apps' when i try to enable both these options and then select one app from the list and then reconnect my OpenVPN, the app reports "no Internet Connection" and if i deselect the app from the above option it works fine. Shouldn't the selected app be able to bypass VPN and access the internet !!!! but it does not work as expected. Note: i have a kill switch enable to block internet access when a) idle screen is active b) vpn is disconnected I am trying to use Music App and it stops when the idle screen is active coz vpn gets paused and so i need somehow to bypass this app to not use VPN and have access to internet. Any help

When I turned off all the power saving settings for this app on my Samsung this worked perfectly as it should (and consumed less power then when it was constantly having to reconnect after being killed). After tweaking all the settings in the app it works perfectly and the way it integrates with bixby routines is brilliant!

Why is everything the client!? is there some conspiracy to prevent users from creating a server? I've tried everything. php vpn server, scripts, Windows built in server (rejects all connections) even though I've turned off firewall and forwarded ports. nothing works. I just want a vpn server, is it so much to ask for!?

Amazing, does what one would expect it to and more. I very much appreciate logs and graphs. I do, however, hat an issue with a blinking notification icon when connection is active, which is rather annoying. The only reason I rate it less than 5.

Would be nice to be able to 1. "share" (or similar) a folder full of profiles/config files with this app which would then be 2. automatically imported by this app and automatically named after the filenames of the respective profile. Right now it's not possible to do 1. as far as I can see and 2. works only if I import each profile via the Import button individually. If I just click on the profile, it gets named "Imported profile 1" instead of the filename which is "NL4.to" or just "NL4".

Most configurable ovpn client, such as static routing, compression, proxy even tor, static ip and DNS, seperation of ipv4 and ipv6 settings, authentication, encryption and allowed apps. GUI and default values could be defined better but its is still good enough. The app allowing option is great.

great application but stopped working. I figured it out that I should change to old tls version and it connects, but if I access advanced tab it will break my config and I have to import it again. even when I can connect (if I don't visit advanced tab) now android is not routing packages through vpn. anyway, I know its probably a bug, the app is great

Best OpenVPN app. I switched from the "official" proprietary app because it occasionally lost its mind when it had trouble connecting and racked up a big bandwidth bill. This version (the semi official free software version) has worked flawlessly. Generally I prefer free (as in freedom) software anyway, so I really should have started here first. My VPN provider is Private Internet Access.

My initial issue of not being able to select my .ovpn config file on my Android TV box is solved by using the internal file explorer (in settings). The app worked flawlessly until yesterday. Not sure which version. 'Suddenly' the connection was lost and there were all kind of warnings in the log, plus the "ca md too weak" error. The latter apparently broke things. Probably the result of an unattended update.... I use the app to connect the lan in my holiday-home to the lan of my primary-home (and to use TV services that are available in my primary home). My Asus (AsuswrtMerlin FW) router is indeed a bit outdated, but upgrading from a distance is something I want to avoid. After trying to fix things (eg. generate new CA cert) and failing for few hours I gave up and installed app version 7.22 (7.33 and 7.31 did not work either). Tip to the developer: make sure you keep supporting stuff that works (if things get unsecure, just warn he user!), or document which versions support outdated configs. The latest OpenVPN Connect app still work with the same config (but is less configurable), so why doesn't this one? Golden tip to downgrade: Remove the malfunctioning version and then install an older version from one of the available apk archives. Tryin to install and older version on top of a newer version does not work.

8/3/2022: OPENVPN please fix this bug!!!. Sometime in the Spring of 2022, this bug appeared. When switching between connection types (WiFi to Cellular or vice versa) the app acts as if the "Pause VPN Connection After Screen is Off", has been enabled, even lthough it is not selected. The option is not visibly selected, but is how the app functions, until I force stop the app and re-launch it. OpenVPN is paused and reconnects when I turn on the screen, after changing network connections.

I would love to see the top bar be blacked out as well. I find the colored bars to look a little clunky myself. It looks better though than all white backgrounds especially for somebody who themes everything black. I'm not sure what it takes to be able to theme your stuff using swift installer or substratum but that's the way I would go if possible. Props to dev team for implementation of dark mode though. Cheers

UPDATE NEW ISSUE: On Android TV, pressing the home button on the remote controller while you're inside this app causes system launcher UI crash and takes a long time to get out of the program. UPDATE: Thank you for fixing this issue ♥️ FIXED: Can't tick the check boxes of "Allowed Apps" on Android TV, neither with the remote nor with a mouse or keyboard. Mi Box S, Android 9 Overall, best OpenVPN client for Android. Thank you

This is another must have VPN app. Open VPN for Android it's really good compared to its counter part Open VPN connect because it has a more approachable interface compared to Open VPN connect and it provides vast settings than Open VPN connect. It's fast and stable when connected. You can also add multiple VPN profiles. I highly recommend using Open VPN for Android especially when using it on Android phones compared to Open VPN connect.

For some reason(s), when the connection is established, the app stops all my network connections, It looks like there is no network at all. Is it possible this to be due to the Android's version? My Samsung Galaxy A40 is with 11 and this is the maximum for it. Any ideas?

Works well, however some options in the config file don't map to the UI and the app crashes if there is no network connection for any extended length of time. Update: 2020 I've been using this app for years across multiple devices. It works well and never fails.

This used to work; however, now I cannot select a certificate (the screen flickers and then returns to the app when you choose "select"). There is also no option to choose anything other than LZO compression (which is now deprecated). If there was some way to make this app work I'd be happy to give it a higher rating, but sadly these two issues are showstoppers.

What is wrong with this App? It works well, then an updater, and the imported files don't work. Even new ones fail. So you have to go back to an earlier version. Then a few updates later you can upgrade and it works. Recurring pattern. I like it for its configurability but watch it with these updates please. It drives me crazy. Follow up 5 months later. I still cannot use any version of this App after January 2022. I use that version. All later versions exit and won't accept any profiles. Sad

Excellent app, great while travelling paired with a well maintained OpenVPN server at home. The interface makes sense. Most options are present, along with a Custom Options section to introduce options that aren't available in the UI. No bloat, and plenty of function. Thanks for a job well done. Eventually I'd like to see an option to configure under "Connect on boot" or similar that automatically connects to the VPN when a given list of networks or access points are *not* connected to, so while OpenVPN for Android might be connected all the time, it will avoid causing double-nat-VPN issues when already connected to a secure network.
