There's a billing date on it which I can't change. So I decided to submit meter readings well before the billing date anyway, only to be told to ignore it and that I don't actually have a billing date! I sent them photos of it and they still said it's meaningless. Edit: No smart meter and it's pointless having a billing date on the app that Octopus tells me is non functional. Already been through complaints process with Octopus but am still entitled to point out a FLAW in the app!!

The smart charging schedule option disappeared after the app updates, and I can't find any options to add the Tesla car using the latest app. The only option available is to add an Octopus device. We have smart2 meters, and it was working OK previously. Highly disappointed and frustrating.

AVOID THIS COMPANY Their customer service team has just informed me they dont calculate bills correctly and then can recalculate them at any point they wish - over a year after the original bill if they so desire, despite having regular meter readings and providing bills that explain their charges each month, which now apparently cant be taken at face value. They then stick you in debt and demand repayment. There bills can not be trusted - avoid, avoid, avoid!!!

Update July 24: Zero star rating. The Pink Dongle/Octopus app hasn't given gas readings for weeks and the atrocious level of Octopus service continues. Despite customer service assurances, I haven't been billed for gas for weeks. Abysmal. The new pink dongle was supposed to replace my energy display. It worked for a week and has now stopped showing real-time energy usage. Can I have my old, reliable display unit back please? The app is not fit for purpose. Garbage.

Generally good but new issues with intelligent octopus, it is no longer reliable at detecting when I plug in and scheduling charging. Also needs to provide visibility of electricity prices at any given time given time outside core hours.

smart meter worked for a week then failed. It's still counting Watts but octopus are saying that they'd need to send an engineer out to fix it and obviously that means I'd have to take another day off work for the sake of their profit and frankly I'm not sure it'd work for more than a week again anyway. So I'm just entering in readings manually now. Don't bother with a "smart" meter. The new ones are harder to read than the old ones.

Just a lot of spinning windmills since recent updates, impossible to provide meter reading via the app. Meter readings often stop from smart meter & need to be manually reset. It is testimony to how awful the UK energy market is that octopus is perceived as a high quality company. Staff are always helpful but the systems feel pretty shambolic.

Too many of the features just will not load necessitating in a full uninstall & reinstall at least once a month. It is not just on Android but also iOS & Win10. You ring & try & talk it through and you just get told to reinstall. 3 devices. Same problem. Proving fault lies with the app.

Consistently does not work. On par with their website, which also never works either. Edit - thanks for your response but you misunderstood my sentiment. Unfortunately, it's the app and website I struggle with because it frequently won't allow me past a loading screen! Particularly annoying when I'm trying to retrieve data on my account. Reference the smart meter, it's not possible to install where I live; your engineer informed me of this when they came out to conduct the installation.

The app is showing incorrect figures and has been since I was switched from Shell. No response from Octopus despite contacting them twice. The Shell app functioned perfectly, whereas this app is full of gadgets when all most people want is to have accurate figures on their usage and costs, which include the standing charge.

Infuriating, disappointing, They never provide me with an amount I owe for the month. Due to an issue on their end (according to the agent), now I'm expected to pay the £400+ We arranged a payment plan to pay the balance off - but guess what, they haven't taken the payment and the balance increases further. I've had to just start making one off payments because I know for a fact Octopus won't take payment. I've never wanted to give a company my money so much! LITERALLY JUST TAKE MY MONEY! 😂

I have been trying to change my tariff to the EV charging one and it can only be done through the App, apparently. I find that really hard to believe. Anyway it doesn't allow me to, and having moved across the Octopus standard rate as instructed I am now left in limbo. No one from Octopus is interested in actually helping

Usually a great app but lately it keeps logging me out and states something like for security we ask you to log in every 6 months. I've logged in 5 times in matter of weeks and now it won't or even load the log in page. Extremely annoying. Tried updates and uninstall and reinstall but keeps going back to same error.

Bug-ridden, fails to charge overnight leaving me without charge in the AM. Errors starting and stopping boost charge. Their app isn't compatible with solar and house batteries if you're on their IOG tariff, despite being the tariff their site recommends for this setup. Smart charge kicks in during the day and depletes house battery, making you charge at peak time. Other apps handle this fine, but you're forced to use theirs and they will boot you onto a pricier tariff if you don't use it.

For checking bills etc. then the app is great. However, for automatic scheduling of car charging the app is really flaky. Quite often it doesn't produce a charging schedule and in the morning the car hasn't charged, which is really frustrating, hence three stars. If this feature is made reliable then I'd revise my rating. Other than this, I love Octopus and the services it provides.

Update: late July 2024 update seems to have broken all functionality, fine still on web. Very occasionally slow and unreliable, but that's down to the website behind it all, which can have its moments like any – as a web guy myself, I should know. Otherwise pretty slick, and today just noticed (no idea how long it has been there) the quick access torch button inevitably needed when peering into dusty meter boxes. It's the little details...

Very poor implementation of a product with very low quality results. Focus on form over function with many of the basics poorly implemented. Having worked in technology for the industry, I know how flakey the meter messaging can be but also how that is catered for. The platform as a whole has a very amateur feel about it even missing legal requirements such as consideration for partially sighted. Summary: focus on the common basics of timely billing value before gimics!

In terms of managing your account on line this app does a good job. But the Snap game which has recently been added seems completely pointless. I'm not sure if I have mis understood the instructions but after 30 minutes staring at a boring blue map waiting in vain for things to 'pop up' every 10 minutes I began to lose the will to live. Please just drop the gimmicks and give me something I can find useful to do with my precious spare time.

I only use this for taking readings, but I really find two things strange: 1. If you switch the phones torch on while taking your reading, the confirmation screen disables it. Why? I may still be wanting to look at the physical meter 2. The same confirmation screen has numbers in the doodles in its background. I do not want to see random numbers anywhere if I'm busy making sure a reading is correct. I understand they are supposed to represent filled in readings, but they are distracting :)

This version of the app is really nice. I think everything is an improvement over the previous. Better ui graphics, slimmed down sections, usage graphs navigate better, and the bills/activity is now useful. Add real time market rates for solar buyback and you've got a winner. Update: just keeps getting better. Feedback was taken seriously and Im so glad to see how well they were able to implement those nice-to-haves. Every interaction Ive had with them has been forthright & friendly.
