I played the original really enjoyed it, loved it actually and super excited that they are coming out with a second one. Soundtrack is amazing, I can never get tired of the music, the arrangements, and transition of the songs. Overall a good game. But then the greed sets in and they release an event that would costs $300 to participate. So I removed the game today. I'd hate to think that this would turn people away from the original game. Specially those who are new to octopath.

Linear and fun. The battle system is simple and easy to understand while being an enjoyable experience overall. Leveling seems to be a slow grind, but they make up for that with items and 30 second optional ads for a fast way to catch up. My only complaint is the frequency of cutscenes. Maybe adding in a skip or an auto-play button for this would be an easy workaround. Otherwise, great game.

It is very much like the switch game, but it does have a gotcha system in place. The battle mechanics are easy to learn, yet require some thought to use effectively. I am unsure how many characters there, but there seems to be quite a few. Leveling is fast and simple which allows you to explore the idea of using other parties to for exploration and then switch back to your more advanced parties for the harder fights. At this point, I can't really complain about the.

Fun little RPG that reminds me of some old school games. The battle system is cool, drop rates are ok, but the dialog scenes are just ridiculous. You have to travel for mini missions just to tap the screen for 10 minutes. Need a skip feature for sure. I haven't opened the new update yet, but since the last one gameplay has been incredibly slow on my end. It takes 30 seconds to load any scene or anything I click, and it's super annoying. Gem prices are not worth paying for.

So far, it's been very fun. The gameplay and controls feel very optimized for mobile, the story is good, and the gacha mechanics are very much not in your face at all. My one complaint is that it doesn't feel very stable. Close your phone for fifteen seconds or swap to a different app for two and the whole thing crashes and you have to reload the game from your last autosave. Other than that though, give it a try.

I was a big fan of Octopath Traveler, and I'm really happy with this mobile version of the game. I was worried about gacha aspects, but you can clear all stories regardless of who you roll with the right strategy. The removal of healing items with your backline being the main source of MP restoration makes for a challenging but fair battle system, especially for bosses! And I love a lot of the characters; playing their quests and learning more about them is my fave part! Can't wait for more!

Everything so far has been fantastic, the battle system is very fun and nonrestrictive, and enemies are well balanced, it feels just like the original game. There's also almost no pressure to spend money which I really appreciate. I only have 2 issues so far; the frequency of getting feats and repeatedly going through the menu is exhausting, and leaving the app for longer than 10 seconds will send you back to the starting menu which can be frustrating. Hopefully those can be worked on.

Love it. It's to bad that it lacks an English voice cast. I'm not against subtitles but it takes away from the visuals trying to read everything. I was curious how they would turn it into a gacha style game, but it works for me as long as the gameplay is solid. I'll have to spend some more time on it to get the full feel, but so glad I get to play since I couldn't get the orginal on my switch for financial reasons

I have over 120 hours into this game and still going. Can be challenging if you try to bull rush your way through the main story. Good idea to do as many side quests as possible, although they can be a tad repetitive...overall...a great game if you have an hour or two to kill. I found myself playing up to 4 or 5 hours straight without realizing it. Sometimes...its that good...the desire to see....WHAT NEXT...4 out of 5....only due to the sometimes repetitive side quests. ....highly recommended

Great game so far. Characters, battle system, and story are all well done. Graphics are in the "HD 2D" style that is pretty neat. The only problem and reason for 3 stars is the battey drain. It literally uses more than 1% battery per minute! I'm on a Galaxy S22 Plus, and I played for 45 minutes and it used over 50% of my battery. Once SE fixes this, I will rate 5 stars because the game is really good otherwise.

I keep getting error code 100000 Can't connect to the server. The first time I downloaded it, it did it twice but eventually connected. When I stopped for awhile and restarted it, the same error only it didn't connect this time. From what I was able to play, I like it. The instructions are very clear and on time. Haven't gotten to really get into it, but it looks very promising.

(Review was promoted by an in-game popup after about 1 hr of play.) - Extremely long loading time from the main menu, longer than any game I've ever played. - Rates for in-game character draws are extraordinarily low. - If you switch apps from the game for even a split second, you must completely reload the game, despite having adequate RAM that I could switch tasks from far more intensive games and they'll always be in memory. The engine needs heavy optimization still. +No forced ads yet.

This is everything I wanted it to be to deal with that Octopath Traveler itch. What Triangle Strategy couldn't fulfill, this did. Still the gorgeous art style with an easy to understand system. The only issues I've had are lag in the title screen and feats menu, as far as gameplay. The paid currency is very expensive, but with a slow grind, you can manage a bit. Overall, I'm having a good time so far!

The game is incredible. Story is top notch, it feels true to the original. Controls are refreshingly good, and I'm a controller snob. This game doesn't need one. The eight party fighting system is great, maybe better than the original. Only issue this game has is it takes 60 seconds to get from the title to playing. Otherwise, a flawless playing experience.

Really amazing game, truly. The graphics, the music, the voice acting. Square is in their element here and I really appreciate how well this game has turned out. I do wish there was either way better rates, or there needs to be a lot more gems because it's very dry right now which makes getting any characters difficult. This game demands you have teams built around breaking shields but it's hard if you only have 1 or 2 of a certain weapon or element. Please work on this.

It is such a good game. There's a lot of content, which is surprising for a mobile and free game. The story progression is great, albiet a bit overused the more you play. The battle system is a classic turn-based, similar to FFX and a lot simpler. There is A LOT to do. A couple caveats: The side quests are very repetitive. Seems like they copy and pasted 4 storylines and called it good. Second, they need to scale enemies' levels. Playing at lvl 25 fighting lvl 12 90% of the time gets boring fast

Great game: good enough story, fun mechanics, the gotcha is not necessary to complete the story (which is plenty difficult). Watching videos as the main way to level up (limited to 3x a day) is a very odd feature that makes normal mobs irrelevant. Bosses and elite mobs are quite difficult, so strategy is actually necessary. There may be times when you completely have to revamp your team to get by.

For a mobile game it's pretty good. If your a fan of the series this game expands from the story to the mechanics. It's easy going but has its challenges in terms of enemys. The 8 traveler system is near flawless and the game is something you can jump right back into after months of not playing it. Overall a 9/10

Some Square games are too scripted, and some are just directionless. This feels like a weird muddle of the two. In your first ten minutes of play, you'll tap through some dull/generic lore about gods and rings of power, followed by a couple dozen pages of tutorials. You'll choose a vague goal like "wealth" or "power," then a couple random characters will join your party out of nowhere. Only then do you (presumably) begin your adventure. Maybe it gets better from there, but I'm not so sure...

The first half of the game is boring. A lot of assets, including the dungeons, are reused from Octopath 1. That said the main story quests are pretty compelling and during the second half of the game things pick up and a few new locations are introduced. Unfortunately, that is also when there is a difficulty spike between bosses and progression slows to a crawl unless you are willing to grind/shell out money.
