Newly found video player which I think is amazing for anyone with personal media sever. However, I use this is as a front-end but not using the player, suggestions : 1. Need nicer player UI, smaller buttons better placements 2. Gestures to FF//Rewind, with 10 seconds skip toggles 3. Subtitles : ability to custom color and local font, long press to drag text adjusting position 4. Audio settishortcut in player UI 5. Prioritizing local database if available 6. Auto rotate on both landscape sides

On early year I like this apps, the appearance like as Archos video player. Why since yesterday can not play any video on my phone, I update the new version on GplayStore, but apps can not work normally, so I will be deleted this player.

Loving this app! So far it's proving to be a great alternative to Kodi. My only issue is that I wish there were better options when searching for subtitles. A couple of movies have come up saying no subtitles were found but I can see them on Open Subtitles website. It'd be handy if I could just select from a list of near matches. Otherwise, the rest of the app's pretty good.

Something new and without ads yet (many thanks for that). Automatic cover art fetching works OK, not always correctly but feature is truly charming. Frankly speaking, this video player should have a long way of improvements to be one of the best in its class.

Works but is temperamental. Forced subs for non English speaking parts don't show up no matter the setting used in subtitles but show fine in VLC. Movie collections shows nothing, yet I have movie set information from tiny media manager present, rescrape does nothing. A companion remote app would be a great addition.

Some movies lag while playing..hmm,i wonder why🤔i checked the settings. They are all fine. Like the other day, i played jurassic park 1993 remastered in nova player it lagged throughout. The same movie i played in vlc player,it played like silky smooth! Should i shift to VLC PLAYER? Kindly fix this issue so that i can play h264 and h265 format videos without any lag. Do the fix and i will give 5 stars. Expecting a positive reply with a quick fix in the upcoming update

It plays videos. I'm using it on a nvidia shield pro with my movie collection on an external hard drive. It works but with some very annoying features. Instead of picking the folder containing the movies you have to pick the entire drive the unpick every folder not containing movies individually. The other thing is it will not list in your library any movie or tv show that it doesn't recognize the name. For instance including episode 1 season 1 in the file name excludes it your library. G thanks

The player itself is decent. However this one thing caused me to uninstall it immediately. I have some exercise videos on my samba drive. For some reason this player found some musical videos with similar names (not exactly the same, just similar) and downloaded images, descriptions, and also changed the names of my videos. Ok, fine. I found corresponding setting and turned it off. Then I found how to remove downloaded info. But for one file I missed and tapped "Delete" instead of "Remove Info". And this freaking thing deleted file from my server WITHOUT ANY CONFIRMATION whatsoever! I don't understand why does media player even have this functionality, it's not a file manager or something (especially considering this was not a local file on my tablet, it was a file on a samba share) but it should at least ask for a confirmation!

Great video player with support for Windows network sharing that just got a major improvement in December of 2020. Thank you developers and larger open source community that makes these great libraries! The app is flexible but still user friendly and fun. It surfaces new content for users and has extensive search capabilities including voice search on Nvidia shield at least. Playback is pretty reliable, an option to further increase caching would be awesome for less reliable local networks.

It's a really nice app, and I think it might be able to take on VLC, but I have two feature requests. 1 - Please allow the player to play audio only files. I enjoy AC3 and DTS encoded music for surround sound, but this app will not play those files unless there's an accompanying video track. 2 - Please allow the file browser to browse invisible folders - folder names that start with a dot, like .invisible for example.

This is a good substitute for the Plex app, if you occasionally want to play local media. Plex doesn't scrape Metadata for local files. BUT... Nova can't natively send video to a Chromecast. So you have to "open with" and select something to play the file with that DOES support casting... like VLC. That one feature would make this a five-star app, heck I'd even pay for it, but until then it's just a fancy front end.

I love the simplicity of this media player, though I do have some problems with it. First off, while it seems as though the repeat folder feature was recently "fixed" in that it now plays the next item once it finishes the first, playable is really slow on subsequent items is really slow. I'm using the new Chromecast with Google TV, in case that matters. My other two gripes are with regard to features that Nova lacks: 1) It'd be really nice to be able to skip back/forward quickly to skip movies you don't want to watch in the rotation. 2) Please add a shuffle mode to the Play Mode section, as well as an option to shuffle AND repeat the folder. Overall, this has the potential to be the best media player out there. I'm using it with my Plex server, and I really prefer the UI of Nova to that of both Emby and Plex.

Impressive video player if you have a personal collection. I've got it streaming from a Windows SMB share to Google TV where the app is installed. No need to set up and run a special video server program on the back end windows machine. Only weakness is that it won't use image-based PGS subtitles, even if they exist in, say, a streaming MKV file. It only sees srt subtitles. Though you can also get it to download subtitles from opensubtitle. But those can be hit or miss with regards to sync.

I really enjoyed using Nova for a couple of years now on my fire TV. There is a little bit of issues on scraping info but that's gotten better lately. However, the latest release as some serious buggy performance. Basically my videos start super slow, and I have to fast forward a few times until it starts to a normal speed. Even so, videos are always stuttering to the point where they're not enjoyable anymore. Using a shared hard drive connected to my router. Have no issues with others apps.

Love, this app! Wanted to thank the developer(s) for creating & continuing to support it! Because I have an unusually large collection of movies, tv shows etc. it takes a very long time for the app to find the info tags & sort all the videos, however I absolutely love using it. I occasionally accidentally delete the data instead of the cache & have a couple of days worth of reorganizing to do. That is 100% my fault. My only grip is it doesn't always save where I left off nor put in recently watc

I use this on my Android TV and it has replaced my Kodi app, as well as Plex. I needed something that would play 4k 10bit HDR videos. Using my Plex as a samba server I use the Nova app as a front end player now. It plays my 4k content flawlessly. I am thoroughly loving this app and hope that the development continues. I would gladly pay for this app to keep it in development. My only complaints are the FF speed is only by 2 seconds and I can't seem to get mine to jump forward any faster or any option to change that. It's a nitpick but it is a problem for me. Also audio passthrough doesn't work for me. Also the library view of TV shows is kind of annoying to have to scroll through all the shows to get to a show that starts with Y or Z. Other than the nitpick things this is a phenomenal app and I encourage anyone to give it a try.

Easy to setup interface. For me the video player is unusable as it keeps randomly stopping video playback and goes back to the menu. Thankfully it's easy to replace the video player choice, but it would be great if the built in player worked better. The built in player is so far the only player I found that will auto play the next video in a directory.

Bada$$ app love this app ^5 to the developers. I have had plex for years but the audio in playback is awful voices are so low explosions are to loud. I wanted a app to stream my library to my firesticks. This app works great even has meta data just index and it loads the cover art. I have used this on my tablet firesticks and phones. Be nice if I could share my library outside my network like plex but still this app is great 👍 and no Ads even better! Oh and it has audio boost too.

Unable to see or play audio files. As a full featured media player it should be able to play mp3 and audio files too, But, it insists on searching for videos instead. It takes a long time to do anything even when I direct it to a specific small folder with only two or three files in it and then says nothing found.
