Very big security flaw. From time to time thoughout the day this app will send you a notification for a piece of news that comes up even when your screen is locked. Clicking on the notification bypasses the lockscreen and, takes you straight to the article. This give people whole has stolen a phone or other people that you might be around the house coworkers ECT... the chance to get into someone's phone. Giving them access to all your personal data. It could just be my phone (Galaxy s24 ultra)

I had the app for about a year when I started getting e-mail news notifications multiple times a day. Checked the settings...notifications were turned off. All privacy settings/permissions were locked down as well. I had never shared my email address with the app. Needless to say, I deleted it. After reading through a few pages of reviews it seems that issues with the app started in the last few months. I have 'unsubscribed' to email notifications 3 times at this point. Still getting them :-(

Every time I'd open app I'd be taken off my network or it would open, screen would freeze. I have this with many apps. I believe I've had a hacker. Tried telling people know one wants to listen. Everything that happens is with google/samsung apps. I've had calls intercepted, email tampered with and I can go on and on. I'm 68, live alone. I've done everything my mobile carrier told me to do. Hope you guys can figure out how to protect us!!

Today was the last straw, and I deleted this app. I won't repeat the frustrating issues that many others have discussed in their reviews, which from the ones I have read, are true. But when, what you would think would be an important "alert" pops up on your phone's CLOSED screen, causing your phone to stay lit/on until you open it, only to see that the "alert" is for a movie star trying to date another movie star, and a ball player's future plans, this app is worth a delete!

I actually enjoy reading news from here, my issue is that with every article that is opened, I get bombarded with pop-up ads that are hard to get rid of, I understand that ads are needed to keep it free but geez, furthermore I hate it when I reading a article and all of a sudden the article closes and the home screen has changed and you can't find the article again. That part absolutely sucks. Newsbreak needs to do better.

Just about ready to uninstall this app. The local news is far from being local and when you do get an article of interest, half the time the articles don't load or open and then they're gone. Plus there is the issue of blocking articles you don't want only for them to reappear again anyhow, from the same source. It doesn't matter what you do to try and get rid of garbage articles. And last but not least, too much click bait.!!!!

Changes settings on my phone without my knowledge or permission. Should leave my phone's settings alone, as I had it set up. Also, app updates, and then does not show itself as 'updated' in Google Play; 'last updated' date is obsolete, old, incorrect. Too invasive; collects personal information well beyond what is needed to function. Plays audio ads totally hidden in background; user can not find them to shut them down. Therefore, this app can not be trusted to be opened in a 'quiet' space.

This app has multiple issues. The news stories sometimes can't load, for some reason, even after updating the app, clearing the cache AND data, restarting, etc. (The chat section for each story always works right away, but the actual story can't load. My wifi is very fast, so that's not the issue.) Also, the links for ads frequently don't work. THINK ABOUT THAT...I see an ad I actually want to click on, and the link fails with an error message. Why would anyone pay to advertise on this app?

Update: Loading resolved. 9/3/2023: Used to love this app, but lately, more often than not, articles will not load; gets near end of loading then shoots you back to home page! Then, a new wrinkle: get halfway through article and, as you scroll down, the rest of the body of the article is just black screen. And yes, I have the latest app updates. Tried clearing cache, rebooting devices, etc. Still no go. I tolerated the poor writing and spurious info, but can I at least get smooth navigation?

While this app, does report some news, more than half is generated by A.I. algorithms, & 99% of the articles are laced with intrusive ads, and redirect requests. Some of them have ads that consistently display over the entire page, have no way of closing it out, and the only way to get rid of them, is to close the entire app, which causes you to lose your article, and where you found it, and sometimes is impossible to find again. NOT RECOMMENDED!!! UNINSTALL!! Designed to steal information.

The articles never open when I click the push notification, yes app is updated. I believe the problem started happening since the second to last update. I have never been able to view the photos in the thumbnails because they have never been in the article, this was before the last two updates. This has become so frustrating that today I am deleting this app and choosing another source for news information. Other than that, for the most part, I found the content to be informative.

There r 2 many ads and 2 many notifications. It's frustrating to open a web link and be slammed trying to close them. The X disappears, and the overall ability to read any article is lost. Those should've been shortlisted and essentially put in a cookie list to identify them, fallowing an ad free internal web brwsr. Svrl times, had 2 scroll past 100s in drop dwn bar. 1 right in the middle of it and haven't touched. Cnt close to avoid clickers. Can ttly complain abt spam spyware. Deleted

Glitchy as hell. Constantly throwing you out of an article you want to read, and restarting with all new stories. And if you go into an article and want to go back to the original feed to read what was the next article, instead it starts over with new stories. I hate using this app, but hope it will be fixed at some point. UPDATE: Many of the stories are biased and lies. No one just reports facts anymore. Plus, there is no editing for facts or grammar. I won't be using this anymore.

Highly recommend against using this app, the crime map is nice but only filters for 2 weeks, the sex offender list is nice but is public record, outside that the app is useless, email spamming consistently even after uninstalling. There is no opt out of these emails, no option for notifications of live events and everything is highly delayed. There's better options out there.

This use to be an exceptional app, but now not so much. There are way to many commercials popups - even while playing solitaire which is irritating and you loose time- Then when your trying to read an article it just disappears. I realize it's free, but let's bring it back to like a year ago. If I don't see some improvement I guess I'll just search for another news source. For me, while I'm playing my favorite game, solitaire, it's really upsetting the Newsbreak keeps flashing on screen

NewsBreak is one of my favorite news sources. Great content, nice design. The clips & video feature is really nice. Support could be better as response time is really slow. Would love to see an edit menu added for mistakes & in case there's something else to be added to your post. An edit would be really nice. Continue to update & improve for a better customer experience...

I LOVE this app! I was previously using "SmartNews", but it was constantly crashing. It was so frustrating, I would have to restart my phone everytime. You can't customize it or oher news apps. With this app, I can choose/filter between " for me", "local", "breaking news", " science", "tech", etc. I can change the privacy settings, change locations, change languages, change text size, etc. I cannot do any of that on my other apps. Also, I love the short videos (it's like TikTok)!

Too many ads.??? It's crazy how many(ads) there are they cover the articles most of the time. The "X" to close is too small, so you end up clicking another ad in the process.I have to keep alerts turned off because the app sends constant spam and trash AI articles. Also, I don't know why they chose to have the articles repeated over and over again. This app used to be good, and I used it regularly to keep track of news around different cities I travel to and home, but it has gotten so bad now.

I am frustrated with two things in the Newsbreak app. First, the app doesn't have the capability to view articles on the web, unlike other news apps such as Google News and Flipboard. Second, I am concerned about the continued display of video ads, such as Temu ads and ads from other entities. I have repeatedly marked these ads as "inappropriate" through the feedback function, but they continue to appear. This is frustrating and disruptive, and it makes me less likely to use the Newsbreak app.

The app has way too many ads and it's crazy on the notifications. On top of that if I let it go idle for just a few seconds it wanted to verify my email address all over again and so I would have to go into my email and do all that. For what? I can find this news anywhere and not have to do that. I tried keeping it but it's too annoying overall.
