This app never connects to the extender. I never called support to either connect or to operate the product, but once the 1yr support was over it began to have problems. This extender is less than 2 years old. I've had to reset the to factory the extender to reconnect it to the app and when I return to use the app, again it doesn't connect. POS

App could be much better, other router apps seem light years ahead, it seems like Netgear isn't really focused on developing the app not many updates, interface has looked the same for years. I just switched ISP's recently and they included a Eero Pro 6E for free, the app allows for more customized network settings, it actually lets you know when new firmware is available. The Nighthawk app always says you have the latest firmware. but if you check their website they show a newer firmware.

App is giving me notifications which are ads and constantly shows security threats a a couple devices but then says it can report what the threat was. They are always pushing their security package and offering a discount. I have eset internet security on all my devices. My suspicion is that it is all a ploy to get people to pay for more products. The notification add for their modem is the final straw. Ads and notifications are severely restricted on my devices so they work for me, not them.

It's ok. Your average router. Where it fails is the need for more money to run their family software to monitor and control time on the Internet. They also need more bucks to run their security software on the device. So in the end, all you're getting is a stripped down router. Not worth the money in my opinion. You can buy other routers with faster speeds and more options without forking over more funds to do something it should do out of the box.

Basic app. Many features locked behind a subscription. For how expensive this router is, there should at least be an option to hide features that I do not have instead of constantly trying to upsell me service on a product I already paid for. The app itself is fairly convenient, but buggy. It often does not show the ip address of devices, despite those devices having working ipv4 addresses. It also is not possible to remove devices from a child profile, trying to get you to upgrade. Yuck.

Completely arbitrarily won't recognize my device. AGAIN. can't log into router to troubleshoot, let alone CONTACT anything or one since it just boots me- EVEN WHEN I HAVE *THEIR* VPN ENABLED (or any other/none). it's cool. between that and their system constantly "discovering a new" device (Hi. It's Just Me..AGAIN) the techthing pile thwarting a person from making sure their device isn't compromised- just Keeps GROWING.😑.. audibly rolls all 100 of my asseyes :peacock frustration:

Used to be great; now completely unusable. For months now it absolutely refuses to work properly. It either says the router is unreachable (when it's perfectly reachable through a web browser) or says my login details are invalid (when I've confirmed they're valid by logging in through a browser). Total waste of app potential and space on my phone. I emailed their app support over 2 months ago and have never received a reply. Netgear, please fix this app!!

Why won't the app let me log in? It keeps saying your router is unreachable. Please check that your router is on. If this persists, try rebooting your device. Well, I've done all that and it still won't let log on. It keeps saying the same thing. You're app sucks! Won't let me log into my router. I give zero stars. 👎

Constantly bombarded with notifications that a "vulnerability scan has been run" on a device and no issues were found. There is no option to disable these unnecessary notifications. My only option is to disable all notifications for this app on my phone. Until they add a notification control feature to this app I sadly can only offer a 1 star review. I am very irritated with these constant notifications.

router works great, if you have to change phones getting back into the app is next to impossible. if you need help from Netgear... good luck, they don't help and clearly aren't interested in fixing the issue. Issue is posted all over forums, it's well known. somehow I got back in by logging into "router anywhere" or whatever it's called. then suddenly the app worked again. tried cache, reinstall, all the recommended things by forums, no help from Netgear at all.

Inconsistencies and bugs in the interface, poor device support, connectivity issues. Devices list mixes up device name strings, Interface looks different for different devices(router and repeater), Access control doesn't work for devices connected to Repeater. Different views show different statuses and device connectivity. The poor software (app and web interfaces) are making Netgear router-extender-mesh products unusable. Netgear recently discontinued NAS app and cloud. Is it a dying company?

The app never works, and it's always loading when I open it. When I click on anything it says failed try again later. Can't even cut off and on devices, which is really disappointing, or when I'm trying to the app crashes and I have to open it back up and it shows it's still on but it's actually off. It's a really bad experience.

this app is not dependable. I am going to uninstall and reinstall. if that doesn't help it have to go and use Web to manage router. Reinstalled, still a wacky app. Don't see much use for it on mobile devices and no need on PC. I don't see that it does anything useful. Maybe if used to remotely access the network, but I will never open my network to constant remote access. There are too many nefarious morons out there.

Basic connection config: Otherwise, you need a browser and the router url. Of course, it can't figure out special contexts. For anything other than typical config, It's not worth the storage and hassle. It's not the correct OS and protocol. The maker keeps pushing use of the app, anywT: They thus to limit queries and complaints. This is yet another unnecessary app. For most users, it likely performs well enough.

useless app there is almost nothing in the app. I find better use off my pc even my phone when it comes to changing or viewing anything wifi/internet related. you definitely can't do anything useful on the app even though they claim you can... I end up having to go to the router log in url for stuff that should be accessible through the app. it would be a lot more convenient and nice to see some upgrades to the app. kinda sad when you can download third party apps that offer more control.

It makes setting up the Mesh system simple. If that's what you're doing, you won't regret downloading it (and setting up a Netgear account). You're forced to set up a Netgear account. If you want to fine time your local network, such as even simple "advanced" settings, like allocating fixed IP addresses, this app doesn't help. Direct HTTP access to the router is *slightly* better. Also, if you want to be reminded of other Netgear services you could buy, this is the app for you.

If you are a techy and are looking for a router. Skip the nighthawk. App works well. But there are almost no settings you can tweak. You don't get any control, you cant change port forwarding, you can't chsnge ANYTHING. Not Happy, will be returning. And why do i have hundreds if tracking and data gathering attempts from Optimizely and Urban Airship. Why is it necessary for them to use over 15 different points of information on me!? Plus app is useless for troubleshooting, while also advertising

Nighthawk mesh coverage is pretty good. Problem seems to be with the app. Every time it's opened it says the router cannot be found. We're unable to see and/or isolate connected devices since the app cannot find an active connection. Odd thing is, we pay for the security and "unsafe" notifications come through fine.

Worst app ever. Every time I try to run it, it wants to set up from scratch like I had just installed it from the first time. Then, I finally get to where it is "connected" to the router, but then it hangs forever trying to "detect" it. Only option offered is to blow all my router settings away and start with factory defaults which I am not going to do because I can manage the router just fine through the web interface. Ive cleared cache, data, uninstall/reinstall, total waste of time.

Not that good honestly. Why are half the devices just named "unknown" with no way to change it? I even updated it in the Access Control settings on the actual webpage but it didn't update on the app. And the app doesn't have nearly the same number of settings available. Other than that, no complaints. It works well, no crashes, no errors, good UI, quick and responsive
