For several years now I have been overlooking Navionics irritating and potentially dangerous behavior in which every time you zoom in, out or over, the view changes from my preferred "course up" to "north up", requiring an irritating series of menu drill-downs and button selections. Now that the subscription price has increased 100%, how about fixing that bug? (And no, it is NOT a feature!)

Years ago I purchased a lifetime subscription. Then they started charging annually which was a breech of contract, but I dealt with it since I could still use the app with limited features. Now I am locked out of all features and the cost is astronomical. Greed at its finest! Avoid at all costs if just for principle! Thanks for the response Garmin, I payed for lifetime before it was boating. I believe it was just called Navionics back then, but nice attempt at saving face!

I've had Navionics for the last year. It's a great app. However, this year the price doubled from $25 to $50 for an annual subscription. That's a ridiculous increase, and given that I go sailing about 3-4 times a year, simply not worth it. In checking out the alternatives, I found i-boating - better reviews, and the US map is a one-time payment that is less than half Garmin's yearly price.

Price is getting ridiculous, I've been using Navionics for years. Its a shame the price is getting out of control. Instead of having to buy all of North Amrica and Canada you should offer smaller regions at a discounted price. I need the Mid-Atlantic region, not the entire continent!!!Switched to i-Boating, works good for me, and price is good

It's $50 a year now?! This thing used to be sensibly priced.. I used to use this app relentlessly while surf fishing in pursuit of specific features to catch cow striped bass. I'd use it in conjunction with wind finding apps and set myself up right. It was 24.99 a year I wanna say...Then is was $29.99, and I still resubscribed. $50 a year for an app I use on foot for 2 months out of 12 is insane to me. I wish I could continue to use this, but I will be looking for other options sadly.

Got "unable to calculate route"... Tried setting boat draft to lower value and now calculates routes but always puts us offshore when there is a much shorter inshore route. You cannot exclude offshore roures but once the route is active you can click "edit" then automatic. Press and hold on the route and drag it inshore and release. You have to play with it s bit but will ultimately auto route inshore instead. Thank you to Garmin Italy support for your response.

I love the app, using it on a daily basis on the local lake and bay areas. I do a lot of night sailing, is there a night screen (red/black backgrounds) option in the works. Even when I turn down the display on my tablet it's WAY too bright for dark nights. Still holding my breath waiting for a night display - PLEASE!! Deducted 1 star for lack of night option. Feb 2024, over 2 years later and still waiting for a night display option - deducted another star.

The map data in itself is phenomenal. Zero complaints on that. However, the app is extremely clunky and difficult to use. You can not turn (orient) the map. The markers don't read when the crosshairs are directly over them. For $50 a year, I expect the app quality to be much better.

From a few days ago the app always crashes when network changes. And at sea it surely changes a lot! But the stars are even lower because it always changes when you get to your destination and to the cell towers that comes with it. Exactly when you most need it!! Not acceptable in this kind of app.

It WAS a good little affordable app. Not anymore. They tried to add a lot of frills that are very poorly executed for a phone app, apparently only to justify an exhorbitant price increase. If you are considering this app, all you need to look at is how fast the overall rating has plummeted to only three stars. Pitiful. If you need the so-called "premium features" the developers are trying to push on this app, then hopefully you have the proper equipment and aren't relying on a phone! Avoid.

Liked it when it was affordable, but forcing me to pay much more yearly for features I don't care about deals me out. If the added features are that great people would be happy to pay, but still offer a basic "here you are, here's what the bottom basically does on this lake". Will keep Humminbird app, where I own the maps, which have better accuracy and detail

Just Ok As far as I can tell you can not sync with desktop website. I would like to use my large screen desktop computer to look for fishing areas on the map, pin them, then have it available on my mobile devices. Bigger problem is the constant popup ad to buy more maps. When out of my general area the popup ad covers 2/3 of my map screen and will not stay closed. That is completely unacceptable as a paying customer and if it continues will be the reason I do not renew my subscription.

(Their response was exactly what I described. That doesn't make it better.) I purchased the old app in April of 2011. They force you away from that one to this app and then make it a monthly subscription. When I emailed them about restoring my purchase or transferring it to the new app, they responded I now need to pay the recurring subscription. I asked about just restoring access to my original purchase of the old app, and they said it is no longer active. You pay, they take away.🤬

I used this app happily for 10 years. Unfortunately I was forced to find a replacement. New 2 device limit and price increase make this expensive, unusable, and unsafe. Very disappointed in the new changes. Aqua Map supports 5 devices for sharing information and redundancy across enough phones that if you have equipment loss/failure you can have backups and not end up on a reef. --- I appreciate the response from Garmin, but devices fail, crash, batteries die etc... no way to log out.

Absolutely loved this app for finding fishing spots in eastern Ontario for the $40/yr but to double the price because they have improved navigation is ridiculous! Why can there not be a basic version that just shows contours and tracks your routes. Majority of fishing folks do not need these features. Will not be renewing my subscription.

I have always loved this app and I have strongly suggested it to many. The price was always very respectable at $15 ish for the year for basic and upgrades at more money to your choosing. Now I'm being told the only subscription option is $50 a year. Are you kidding me?! MY damn.. greed apparently came about with this company like many after covid. What a disappointment. I liked this app. The price jumped 5 times within a few years. Come on... Think I'm looking at other options now.

This company - navionics has destroyed the once lauded boating app. They have stripped away everything in order to get you to have to subscribe. Basic maps are no longer available unless you have a paid subscription. I have been using the app since 2012. Absolute trash now. Every update removed key features and now it's absolutely unusable without a paid subscription. Don't subscribe and definitely don't update.

I used to love this app, HOWEVER recently the color scheme changed to dark and it is awefull!!! It is so hard to read navigation symbols and determnine depth changes. On top, if you want to enable reef shading overlay it is useless as you can barely see anything with the new color scheme. Not sure what Navionics was thinking about it, but they will loose tons of subscribers, especially since subscription is already steep at $50. BRING old colors back. If I could give 0 stars I would.

They've lost the plot and will continue to lose customers. The new features seem great and if you need them then the subscription price would make sense however, most of us have no need for all that! I just want an app to keep from running aground. @dev response. That's exactly the point I'm making. You've alienated 99% of rhe people I know that would pay for basic functionality

40% price hike after my first year? I subscribed for the first time last year at $29.99 for SE Asia. Then yesterday saw my subscription had expired and it's $49.99 to renew. Feels like a bit of bait and switch. On principle I'm reluctant to renew. Also I see discount promo codes online but nowhere to enter them while renewing the subscription. Edit: I learned that I can still use the charts that I'd already downloaded while I was subscribed, but can't update them.
