I really want to like this game. It has so much going for it. The dungeons are engrossing, and the mechanics work really well, allowing for a real-tine game that isn't impossibly frenetic. However, the combination of constant respawning and extremely limited inventory space, along with extreme limits on what can be sold make the game unplayable for me.

I like the experience of the beta. it is fun, and looks as good as I'de ask for, coming from somebody who doesn't like the smooth, lretty look of so many of the mobile games coming out. I really like that it looks like a 90s computer game. I am not a hardcore RGP player, so I like the casual feel, but I would suggest making a harder mode for those who might want a tough challenge, because the current experience is pretty easy.

Didn't get into the game at all, thisnis just a review of the controls. The bottom two tiles on the left, attack and blank, cover the movement controls making it difficult to turn left or move forward. You can turn by swiping...but you can only tuen left by swiping the right side of the screen and vice versa. Why can't you swipe either direction from either side of the screen? Basic controls aren't usable, I uninstalled.

I played this game a few years ago and completed everything... now I check in and a TON of new content has been added! woohoo! This is an awesome retro game that just blows everything 'modern' out of the water. The graphics are good, gameplay is smooth and the content is thoughtful and detailed. The developers has put so much time and love into this game that it feels almost like a tiny piece of artwork - an homage to the great RPGs of old (except *those* games actually were clunky!) Great work!

Just started playing and recieved the treasure from the 5 levers. Great graphics and decent mechanics and controls. A little more info on objects, maybe making a hint scroll for objects would be nice. (What it does and where it goes) some things are cryptic more so than puzzles. I've opened some inventory spaces up (8) and I think that there should be 3-5 more starting spaces.

Some awesome potential here! Good game play so far, as I've finished the demo. My only nit picks are minor ones that likely won't bother the majority of players out there. I really hate having to click on a key on my inventory, then click an action button, then click on a door to open it. I've gotten spoiled with modern games that just do an inventory check then open the stupid door. Controls are smooth, monsters are fun. I'm looking forward to release of chapter 1.

Well this is like a good ole fashioned dungeon crawler modernized for the 21st century! It's still got the retro feel but with modern aspects which makes it a pretty damn good game and we'll deserving of 5 stars. Sure the combat could be a little tighter, it desperately needs a dodge or block or kick em in the crotch button and there's some other minor discrepancies as well but they're miniscule at best and nothing to detract the living old school vibe that transcends your body when you play 🙆

EDIT (from 5*) I've played a bit of this game, and I still do like it. It has a good bit of content, mini games, tons of loot and enemies... I just can't seem to get away from the thought that the controls are... not great. I get that the directional arrow, tile-based movement is nostalgic and a callback to older games but, it just seems to needlessly confound gameplay here. Especially because enemies still move in free-form. I find myself playing, just wishing the movement was different.

This game is fantastic for the right kind of player. 30+ hours invested. Pros=Excellent graphics, sound, controls. Interesting story. Well designed levels and frequent updates (deserves special attention as I believe it's one guy). Cons=Enemies eventually just stop dropping loot needed throughout the game. Gives you no clues at all as to how items can be used. Not clear on objective/how to achieve it. The game is in constant development, so I might revisit later. Overall decent product.

Gameplay, graphics, all great. My problem just like many other is the lack of storage space compares to how many crafting materials. I (and many other player) end up throwing away quest items because of this I know I can buy more and support the dev or collect gems, but still something needs to be done or it could turn people off early game. I suggest inventory system that split key items for quest, crafting materials, and equipment

Good game. Runs smoothly. Interface works well for a phone game. Puzzles are a bit simple, but I'm sure they would be more challenging in a full game rather than just the beta tutorial levels. Some constructive criticism, the "hit box" to drag items into slots is a bit small. It could be made to encompass both the icon and description for more ease of dragging. The lightning aoe spell does not hit spiders but rather goes over them (intentional ?).

Reminiscent of the classic dungeon crawlers, Moonshades delivers on the android platform. With just a little time, and trial and error, most of the ins and outs are fairly easy to figure out. It has a Neverwinter Nights feel to it, though not as much story, and not as much NPC interaction, just blacksmiths, and to get quests. It is more about fighting your way through the levels, which you can do over and over again as everything respawns as you exit areas. No ads or annoying in app purchases.

I love this game, but going to have to knock off 2 stars from my previous 5* review because the movement is straight up awful. I get that it's a throwback to the old directional movement in these games, but we had arrow keys then. This is a tiny, cramped directional button interface mashed up against the spells. Probably great on a tablet, but just way too clunky on a phone (S23 Ultra). Game is otherwise great, sorry to have to pick on one flaw but it genuinely makes the game unenjoyable.

This game shows a tonne of promise and feels like its aim is to be like an old crusty role playing game (which I say with affection of course), rather than what is typically called a 'mobile rpg'. Far from perfect, but an impressive work (for a solo project, no less!). I find the arrow key tank controls charming, but understand how they might become grating after long periods of play. Haven't spent enough time on it to give a thorough review, but the game asks that you rate it very early.

Old school MUD in visual form, very cool idea but I wouldn't call it really free to play. Don't even try it unless you're willing to pay cash for inventory, theres almost no space and dozens of keys, mats, consumables, and quest items that all take up room. Days of playing earned less than half of the gems required for a single inventory upgrade (of many needed), the number gained per hour rapidly slowing, all while constantly having to toss important items just to be able to look at new drops.

This is an amazing truly offline dungeon. At the beginning of the game you're fairly powerful so you can rip through the first few levels and honestly it stays pretty well balanced as you move forward no matter how fast or slow. It is fairly complex so it keeps people busy as well as challenged. When you're in a big fight and there's a ton of spiders and skeletons AOE Damage like 9000! After about a week or two in you will run across a magic like card game, that the dev made.I Love that game!❤

This is a slightly different RPG than most mobile games. It took a bit of playing and starting over to really understand this game. You have two characters to use and upgrade which is nice. It can be a little confusing until you find the map of the level. The nice thing is it isn't gatcha or idle. I'm having a ball with this one. My only real complaint is the forge doesn't seem to work. But overall this is a keeper.

Good game, classic and well designed. Lots of fun but unfortunately at some point your utterly stuck, progression stops. There are no apparent clues to point the way, your confused and frustrated because it is good but your left clueless going nowhere. Online support from others is the only way. Don't like knocking it but for frustration.

Definitely 5 star worthy. The only gripe I have is the game is incredibly strict with storage space for new players. Between potions, a few buff items, monster parts and gems, at level 5 I shouldn't be micromanaging my inventory so much. I can imagine many players uninstalling when they hit their item cap. It would be nice if there was a little more breathing room.

I really like the game. It does give a very retro og rpg feel to it. Biggest critique of it is the lack of inventory and storage space. Just got to a point where I have no space left and will have start tossing away usable items to continue. In game methods of increasing space is slow to say the least.
