More About Microsoft Planner

Microsoft Planner requires an eligible Office 365 work or school subscription. This app does not support Office 365 personal accounts (for example: [email protected] or [email protected]). If you are not sure about your company’s subscription or the services you have access to, please contact your IT department.
Planner provides a simple, visual way to organize teamwork. Planner makes it easy for your team to create new plans, organize and assign tasks, share files, chat about what you’re working on, and get updates on progress.

-- Organize work visually --
Each plan has its own board, where you can organize tasks into buckets. You can categorize tasks based on their status or on whom they’re assigned to. To update the status or change assignments, just drag and drop tasks between columns.

-- Visibility --
The My Tasks view provides a comprehensive list of all your tasks and their status across all your plans. When working together on a plan, team members always know who is working on what.

-- Collaborate --
Built for Office 365, Planner lets you work together on the same tasks, attach captured photos directly to them, and even have conversations around tasks without switching between apps. With Planner, all your team’s discussions and deliverables stay with the plan and don’t get locked away across disparate applications.

-- Works across devices --
Planner works across all your devices. And with Planner, everyone is always on the same page. Continue conversations and updates tasks while on-the-go or at your desk.

This works great on the phone. I use power automate to send flagged emails straight to planner and then sort them. I can sort easily on the phone and assign tasks to buckets and timelines. The only thing missing is the ability to view plans that are set in Microsoft Project.

As an IT Manager, this make simply to lead our team projects. Also suggest to build alternate version for non 365 users with more modified features for personal use. Thanks to MS.

Love the integration between LOOP and PLANNER. However, it would be great to have a standard Gantt export option (like Project) without a premium fee. Also, are you considering a LIST and PLANNER integration? This would truly boost the user experience.

Cannot see 'My Tasks' or 'Private Tasks' from Teams Planner, which was my primary use case for having the mobile app. Bummer that the two platforms (Microsoft Planner vs Microsoft Teams Planner) are not at feature parity yet. Hopefully it's on the development roadmap.

Great job in making The learning curve and user experience seamless between the web and mobile app version. Very useful and intuitive. The only piece that's missing in my opinion is the ability to handle multiple accounts.

Wife and I were looking for a better way to set up and share tasks. Our initial search led us to To-Do, but that needs Planner to allow tasks to be assigned and shared. Planner won't recognize personal Microsoft Logins, so this doesn't work for what we wanted. That said, the feature set is what we wanted, the arbitrary "Business and Organizations Only" tag doesn't make sense to me, but I'll move on in my search. I will say that things like this are making Office less relevant for my home use.

This is an amazing tool to make my days, months productive. The dashboard helps me track my projects and the progress of tasks assigned to the team. And the ability to use it with power automate, means that data entry is also a breeze. Thank you Microsoft for this wonderful, amazing and thoughtful addition to the M365 package.

Very good app but the limitations hold it back from being great... Things I would like to see: View options like condensed/expand. When a task is modified, an indicator to show that and by which member. The owner of the plan should be able to 'lock and pin tasks to the top of buckets. Sharing permissions/member permissions. Much better View and sorting options.. unlimited custom coloring of labels. Priority labels need to stand out way more! Printing options. Deleting of comments.

Wonderful app to help plot & track of all the small tasks that add up to a big project! Syncs perfectly with Microsoft Teams to delegate tasks stay on top of deadlines. A must-have for project managers. I use it for all the different components of creating and releasing a music album. Having an analytical look at the project's process is a major asset when prioritizing what needs to get done first.

I use this in conjunction with Microsoft Teams. Together with some other apps. it's a pretty solid project management tool. My biggest issue is the calendar. It would be nice to be able to easily adjust dates when setting up a project and have some sort of days +/- so you can get some sort of Gantt chart from the calendar. I mostly use this on a laptop, but sometimes my phone.

I really enjoy the versatility of the app. I can use it with tasks app and outlook. I would however like to intigrate my planner app with files/OneDrive and possibly use it along with Excel or Word when I'm in meetings. Otherwise when open, it's also very useful for notes and additional subtasks included within a plan. But I need more features to safe the notes as docs. Rather than copy past.

Absolutely great application. The only thing that I can think of to fix is when you go to the home screen and back into the application it resets to the beginning of the list again. Since I have multiple buckets, it's a pain to go back and forth and have to swipe over to the designated bucket every time I reopen the app

This system of tasks by planner is decent. However, this app is kinda awful. There's no real way to filter the tasks (I can look at them grouped by due date, but then it shows them in the wrong order to be helpful. I cant designate showing just today or even late and today like the browser), there's no notifications for tasks that are due, etc. In all, no to the app. Yes to tasks by planner.

Nicely done application with great features. Unfortunately, It cannot be used in a real world environment because IT DOESN'T HAVE SEARCH CAPABILITIES AT ALL. March 2019: changed to a solid 4-stars. Developer now has search in the mobile app (still no search in the desktop or browser apps). Also new feature that allows to copy a plan is great. many other nice features. Thank you, MS. June2019, Many new features added as well as tight integration with other O365 apps. changed rating to 5-stars

The app barely functions. Good luck actually using it (every time I click on a tasks I'm booted to the hub so it is literally completely not useable) and planner sucks on 365 mobile too so I can't work on my lists unless I open my laptop. When I first installed it did work but the app is not so awesome. No filters and can't edit the recurring info fully so there has always been issues with app even when I could get it to function.

It seems to be great program with a lot of various options for the typical Microsoft office 365 business platform. However it is incredibly frustrating that I can't take an email and directly link it to a task by attaching the e-mail to it in a seamless motion. It takes considerable amount of time trying to get one from the other and a lot of extra steps that should not take his long.

The UI is not totally intuitive or fluid and the lack of a dark mode is always a negative. Integration across devices and with Teams works well (but could still be more seamless with the latter). Correspondingly, the lack of a desktop app is a definite shortcoming: I often have many tabs open in my browser and lose track of one or another.

For managing projects and keeping tabs on tasks, this app does just that. I was looking for an easy to use project management software that worked on my phone and desktop. This being from Microsoft, I was able to quickly link up my account and get to work. Even better it's looks good on my Samsung Z Fold4. You can assign tasks to individuals, assign color categories/labels and set a task to be reoccurring. I do appreciate the notes areas where documents can be attached or websites added.

I believe there are some other apps that work better than this. However, this is Microsoft we are talking about. The app itself is alright, just alright. We use it for every day project tracking. The schedule isn't syncing up properly with Outlook Calendar. The interface is clean, but could be more comprehensive. First time users often have a hard time finding the plans they're involved with, and creating a blank one instead...

App is easy to use but not really helpful for my use case since I can't copy any tasks (trying to copy formatting), I can only manage what is already there. Great potential if it can mimic everything the desktop app/webpage does. App crashes randomly which is very frustrating as I use this for work and time is money. It also keeps unpinning my plans and puts them at the bottom of the recent list. comments and attachments get "mixed up" between tasks and information doesn't display properly.
