I used to love this app, but with the latest updates it's more buggy than ever. It started renaming previous pins. I now have 8 pins in 1 group with the same name. It also "forgets" pins that I've made (it deletes them on its own). Sometimes it won't save changes They also started making a "limit" to how many pins you can have without upgrading to the "PRO" version. They're taking away what made this app great, which was its intuitiveness, customizability and being free. Miss the old version.

Terrible updates I'm using maps.me almost since it was publicly released. Used it for every trek, every trip, every travel. Even when I lost all bookmarks due to an update I continued to use it and recommend to everyone. I just entered to download map of another country I'm going to and a bad surprise... I'm over free limit with previously downloaded maps. Also recent updates are annoying. Auto car mode, start button coveting info, navigation tab for half of the screen... Bad, bad, bad

I'm very frustrated by the latest update. When opening the app, it always auto-zooms to the same location, where I happened to be two months ago rather than my most recent location. I either need to zoom and pan or wait two minutes to get a GPS fix. Also when previewing a route, the start button covers the trail profile. If you try to swipe the huge menu out of the way to preview the route, the route now disappears. I love the app, hate the updates.

They've killed it. I tried to open a pre-downloaded map today and was greeted by a sign stating that I have to download it, that I have 10 free maps left, and that I just switch to premium if I needed more. However, after tapping to (re-)download it and waiting for it to finish, nothing happens, the app hangs. After restarting it, the counter is back to 10 maps left and I still can't see any of the maps I had. So, regardless of the change in business model, all functionality is gone.

Was the only app that works! Sadly "improved". Recently blocked by pay wall. When touring all over the world, I tried many other options, maps.me was the only one, when out in the wilderness, no signal required, no xtra charge, that actually shows a detailed map and pinpoint location! I get that they want to make some dough, I would too... Just sad to see it go. What's a cheapskate to do?

Change their business model to a subscription. I purchased this app for all my devices Android and iOS. At the time there where no additional fees, ads or subscriptions. Now this app has ads and to get rid of them you have to pay a monthly subscription. They changed the rules in the middle of the game, I'm deleting it from all my devices. This app works offline after you download maps. Searching for an address is not good. You can import KMZ files, such as places you've mark in Goolge Maps.

Used to be the best, now the worst. I paid for the app when it was mapswithme. The amount of bloat and now they limit downloads to ten maps unless you buy an expensive pro version. BEWARE DO NOT UPDATE! They also don't tell you on the update notes that it's a version that is going to limit you unless you pay a lot every month. Very not honest. Now found that "Organic Maps" is like the old versions. Just a map without all the bloat around. So uninstalling this app after so many years. Do it too

I've used Maps.me for over 10 years and it was my go to travel app. Sadly the app has taken a very bad turn for the worse. The makers have decided to break the basic functions of the app in a strong-arm attempt to get users to pay for a pro version that restores the app to basic functionality. They could have built a pro version with added features but have instead decided to go this route. Instead of wasting time trying to get maps.me to see the error of their ways, just get Organic Maps.

I've used this app for many years. It was perfect for what I used it for, backpacking in the back country, and flying between countries. After many years I decided to update it, and oh what a what a disaster! Now they want a monthly subscription, to use an offline map I use 3 or 4x per year? And the price! No thanks. It's SAD to see another great product destroyed by greed. Now if only i can figure out how to backtrack versions.

It has trails in national forests and parks, too. One thing to remember before wandering somewhere new, download maps of the place, while you have wifi or cellular data. I have more than once seen a disturbing divergence between voice guidance and the blue line marking my route. Follow the blue line. The lady is a tramp. If you're a cyclist, you might not want to use this app. The route it suggested from my house to Portland,Ore would have me riding on a busy highway when plenty of country roads would have been a better experience. Google Maps is better.

Update: was 5 stars in 2017, it now has too many ads and trackers, I've switched over to osmand and dropped this to 3 stars. Old: Works great, keep up the good work! Point-to-point routing would be great. It would also be nice if I could pre-load recorded tracks and show them in the app - I sometimes use the app while mountain biking and hiking, and it would be nice to see previous hiker/biker tracks as a point of reference.

I've had this app for almost a decade. It was great for traveling outside of your country and download unlimited maps free. But now they limit you to 10 free maps and have to pay. I get have to pay for more features, but I've always kept the free downloaded maps on my phone, until I recently opened the app and found out no more downloaded maps and and have to pay for more than 10. Could have kept unlimited basic maps and pay for more features.

I foolishly paid for the premium annual version a few months ago and regret it. I can't get a reply to my queries and they just want your money with no support. Heads up for anyone wanting a very similar app based on OSM as a great substitute and it's Organic Maps. Free to use (donations help with development) with unlimited maps, and what I've read from the reviews, great support. It's very much what Maps.me used to be like in the past before the cash grab.

I tried for my 10 tries to get to my doctor office but I'm not sure it's taking my address. Just the street only. I'd get a note "we cannot offer a route. ...". Google maps has no trouble at all finding the exact location. MAPS.ME found the street but not the address. I'm going to need that address. This app has failed. Sorry. I can't even guess why it isn't working. An ancient copy of offline maps couldn't find it either for ref. The building is not new. Anyway, Google maps wins this time.

Do NOT depend on maps.me for anything important, like navigating on trails while you are backpacking. For the second time in 2 or 3 years, they have royally screwed me by not responding to an urgent email for help when their app froze - and previously, eliminating all my bookmarks. You cannot depend on maps.me for something important. I will be searching for alternatives.

I loved this app, until the update erased YEARS of my saved bookmarked coordinates. Foraging spots, campsites, etc, all gone. I didn't have backups for all of them, I made the mistake of trusting this app. On top of that, now you can only have a few downloaded map areas without paying a subscription.

Amazing app. Great Ui, Intuitive Design and just an overall Seamless experience. For something like this, you'd expect to be bombarded with ads, which this is NOT. Makes it so easy to download (very detailed) maps of entire states, and even gives you an option to download the entire country 😂 Already recommended it to a friend.

When I reviewed this originally in 2017 there were no limitations and it was excellent. The 10 map limit seemed to be introduced last year and I managed with that. Now I come to use it again, I had the same experience as reviewer Enzo [23 December]. I can't access the maps I had already downloaded. I deleted a couple but the counter stayed at 10 and it wouldn't let me download any more. Yes, they've ruined it. I can't seem to give no stars so the one star indicates a useless app.

Incredibly disappointed recently, I downloaded this app 2 years ago with fantastic appreciation for it. But recently my phone Auto updated this app, and once I was able to download unlimited Maps, it now has a subscription to download anything more than 10 maps for free. What a surprise, I would not mind paying $30 one time, but it seems everyone wants a subscription nowadays

This app got me through many journeys around the world. Simple, effective and thorough offline maps and directions with no frills. Not always up to date with businesses or transit, but they are very detailed when it comes to navigation, and available when you have no SIM card or cell signal. Unfortunately, they've decided to heavily limit offline map storage and availability, locking it behind a pay wall. I'm sure it still functions fine but it's not the reliable free tool it was for years.
