I had been using this app for years and it had been working fine. The latest update seems to have broken something. First it started insisting every time I launched that I really should buy TomTom maps - it didn't take the hint after the 500th time I declined that I really wasn't interested. Then all of a sudden it needed a new key of some kind, and refused to launch at all. I eventually uninstalled it (losing all my favorites) then reinstalled, and now it refuses to download the OSM map for California correctly. It downloads 226MB of 227MB, then tells me "waiting for peers" which it never finds. Right now, because of this, the app is completely unusable. I wish I could give it a higher rating but as it is, it really deserves zero stars - the two I gave it are based on past performance.

It works again, yeah! Once again my favorite offline navigation app for Android. Only reason for the missing fifth star is that navigation on foot and with public transit is still more cumbersome than necessary. Would be great if subway stations could be made even more prominent on the map, and with the name of the lines they're on. If I could give 4.5 stars I would have. Please keep improving this, it's getting better release by release.

I have used this app for years, for everything from mountain biking expeditions to long-distance car trips and navigating on foot in New York City. I would give it five stars if it weren't for one little quirk where it had us get off on an exit and then get right back on the same highway for no apparent reason. It only happened in one spot and other than that it works great and it's wonderful that it is free and has offline maps.

This used to be a great application. Now it takes forever to plan a trip. The application freezes and sometimes to get out of the application, the phone has to be restarted. Often receive a notification, "Waiting for Valid GPS Signal". I have no GPS Signal issues when using Google Maps. Too bad about the glitches. It could be a super app. . . . . . . . The developer quickly responded . . . . . I did what was suggested. . . . . . .It made no difference

Years of location information gone for no reason. I didn't change a thing on my phone but app decided it couldn't do anything without being reinstalled. Pen & paper more reliable. To be clear, I never uninstalled the original. I turned it on and it couldn't recognize where it was. I directed it to the SD card that it couldn't find for some unknown reason. After I did that, it acted like a new, previously never used app. (?)

Update 10/2018: I still use this and on my main phone. I've used it successfully in Tokyo, Taiwan, S. Korea, Germany, and navigating Yellowstone National Park. It is often not quite as good as the big name data plan napping software, but it is still pretty good and my go to option when signal is week or nonexistent. 2015: I've used this on a spare android I've picked up mostly for audiobooks & as a backup phone requiring just a sim card insertion. However, on trips to Costa Rica, Honduras, & Belize it was very good. I didn't have a data plan in these countries, but preloaded the maps, rented a car, and drove across the countries for a day to a week w/o issues. A couple times locals had better suggestions & a few times we got turned around, but using the free SW & free maps is very polished for the price.

Thoroughly awful. Totally unintuitive. Ridiculous interface. 0 stars. Update 2 years later: 1 star. Still the worst and least intuitive interface of any satnav app, and I have used many of them. Also, I input where I am and where I want to go and CoPilot, MapQuest, Navmii, TomTom, OSM, Sygic, Google Maps, Here We Go all immediately present two or three routing choices. I enter the exact same addresses in MapFactor and it says "Route not found." I really want to like this app, but I can't.

It used to be an awesome app. They kept making the UI and the performance worse. Now they have added super obnoxious and intrusive ads, such as loud autoplay videos. I will be looking for an alternative. I suggest the designers to get revenue from less intrusive ads. Ads that don't turn the user into a sitting duck. I.e. ads that allow to use the app while displaying the ads, ads that don't pay sounds. Respect your users, they are your real source of income.

Best described as 'LOL'. I PAID for this, btw, so I expect it to work. We're all looking for a Google alternative. I have 4 old GPS units (my 1st one bought back in 2009) and they all work. The wife's car has one built in, works. Google works flawlessly. This app's interface is the exact opposite of intuitive, its load time is nearly 20 seconds (Google is immediate) and it's so slow that I pass turns, THEN it says "oops, make a u-turn". Just now it failed to navigate 2 hrs away. Enough.

The mapping works offline, which is why I got it. I then purchased some of the upgrades, like multiple routes, and that worked great... Until one day the app reported that I no longer had the upgrade and is prompting for another purchase. This had happened twice now. The app has also wiped my addresses and will not let me import them from my contact list, either. If you need the offline mapping, get this, otherwise PASS! I've used the same Google Play account since Samsung Galaxy S3 came out.

Used it today in the the mountain forest roads and it work wonders. I didn't think it would show the roads up there but it did, and was I relieved. No more paper maps for me. Updates: I'm trying to love this app, but all the knick picking cost for features that should be built in is steering me away, especially when Google Maps does more for free.

I think it's great.. but am I missing something? It doesn't allow me to put in addresses, just street names. That's renders it useless unless you're just looking fort a specific street. I'm using it on my Android car radio. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Do I have to update to the TomTom maps, or is does it allows me to type in specific addresses in the pro version of this app? Which I'm not sure is available in the play store on my car radio. It's Android 6.0.1 TomTom maps do not even include some zipcodes that have been here for 20 years or more. Didn't find that out until after I paid for the offline maps thru TomTom per your suggestion. Also, your premium features, when I tried to purchase them, it would say site is unreachable. Then I tried with a new browser and after entering my credit card info it says "purchase no longer available" You're customer support was great, but regardless, almost everything within this app either didn't work or gives errors. I bought a new radio with built in updated offline gps maps. This app has too many bugs.

I have 7.0.51 with TomTom maps on a Samsung Galaxy A71 5G UW. Pro: My Places load onto the map faster because I switched the Map Navigation Mode from 3D to 2D. Con: The last 2 updates have caused navigation trip accuracy to dip from decent to terrible. On a test trip to home, at every intersection, it prompts me to make a right turn. This is the opposite (and incorrect way) to getting home. The app's storage cache is about 1/2 a megabyte. Please investigate. Thanks.

I've had it lock up while simulating a route but it's been rock steady while navigating. my only real irritation is that when it interrupts my audio player the player doesn't resume after the navigation instructions. pretty much impossible to use this and listen to an audio book. But for a free navigator that works well offline it is great.

Been using this app since 2013 and it worked great. This spring I noticed that distances were way off compared to other navigator apps. Then, during a trip last week the app bugged me with "Recalculating the route" voice notifications every second when I used it on dirt roads and wouldn't follow the exact route. That was soo annoying that I had turned it off altogether and missed my turn. I realized it too late which cost me extra 2 hours of driving :((

Decent details only wish you could put in actual street number in phone version. Years later I continue to use this program as one of my primary nav programs. Love the fact that you can get maps from around the world for free. I've also seen where this program works better than the one in the rental car! Overall, a nice product (...but still wish there were more street addresses in the database!).

A really nice GPS app with a lot of features. I really like the scale on the map, very helpful! So many features it takes some getting used to. Upgrade to premium package failed with phone connected to ethernet cable, a lot of apps do not support all of their features when phone internet connection is through the ethernet cable for some reason.

Update 201811: updated to v4.0.85 and ability to multi-touch map and see distance line has disappeared on my Galaxy S7 yet it still works fine on Galaxy Tab E and LG Tab. Hoping this can be corrected although not a major issue. Update: > The latest version as of early January 2018 caused problems on both my phone and tablet. Detailed maps disappeared and left me with only major roads. The navigation engine also seemed to have problems finding a solution for long journeys. I reverted back to the previous version and don't seem to have the same problem with street detail after clearing the app cache but routing a long journey still appears to be very slow. Otherwise still very good. < Very good in it's own right but even better when considering the functionality and cost (paid app & OSM maps here). I also use Copilot and, while it's very good as well, the map update schedule doesn't even compare. I also use the PC based version but the mobile version is much easier to use. I've seen people complain about the app and OSM maps but can't imagine why. Installing OSM maps has even added new life to several of my old Garmin handheld and mobile units. Everyone should applaud the hard work and incredible results offered to all of us by this team and those who make OSM maps available. Many here are too young to appreciate what is offered and the occasional shortcomings. Go buy a paper atlas and some gas station maps and rethink your complaints.

Garbage! Maps too old and no way to add new data in the app. Google Maps is easy to edit in the same app and is constantly being updated. These maps however do not show roads that are at least 2 years old I didn't check back any further. These maps are just too cumbersome to add new info to and the proof is in the fact that the information is extremely old. People add to Google Maps because it's easy to do on the fly which is why it's more recent. Wish it wasn't so but it is..

Buyer Beware! You cannot turn of the voice navigation prompts. So, while driving with a sleeping baby and soothing music you will get a loud "Turn Left in 500 Yards" voice prompt that you CAN'T turn off!!! The screen is beautiful. I actually like the highway interchange navigation better than Google Maps. But seriously!? You can't turn off the annoying voice? -- The programmer responded with ways to adjust over all volume controls. But still does not turn off prompts. I stand by my review.
