Update after 12/1 update: App is still seriously screwed. Took a 3-hour ride and the Bluetooth heart rate was locked at 108 after 10 minutes of activity. Further update: Since my previous update, I switched from a Pixel 2 XL to a OnePlus 6t and the problems are exactly the same. I have to wonder if the app doesn't have a major bug if you're paired with a bluetooth heart monitor? Anyway, after years of great results, neither my wife or I can use the app anymore since the data is incorrect. Update after 10/26 update: App is still trash. It worked flawlessly for years but now can't show accurate speed and distance. Thanks Strava for being able to do that perfectly on the same exact phone. I've used this app for years and now it is trash. I'm running it on a Pixel 2 XL running Pie and patched up to the current security patches. Not sure if a recent MapMyRide update borked it or an Android update but it just doesn't work half the time. Today when I turned it on, it wouldn't register speed or distance. Epic fail. I had to reboot my phone - during a ride - and start the app again. Now, I was getting distance but the speed is just completed screwed. MapMyFitness, what horrible thing did you do to this app? It's completely useless.

Used for 8 years. Used to be great, but in 2019 something really changed. No longer accurate with actual speed during ride, keeps running when paused. Have tried everything to remedy, contacted support, still no good. But after 8 years and all my data in it, hate to lose everything. Still hoping it gets fixed, but after 8 months of waiting, had to write this negative review.

This app was working great, however it has stopped in the middle or beginning of my rides. Happened once and thought a fluke, but has been happening more often. I close it and reopen, but still doesn't work. Believe it helped to turn off phone and turn back on, but really don't want to do that while riding. When I is working, really like it. Has updates along the ride, shows stats as well. Like the photo feature too. Edit 9/2022: appears the issues have been corrected, fingers crossed. 6.23👍

I haven't explored all the details of how it works, and if there is a paid version then I only have the free version, but it reports miles covered and speed and such, so it is pretty cool. I like how it maps it so you can see what you did and where. I'll add that you need to go into app settings to have it auto-detect pauses. We did a slow, casual bike ride with our daughter and it didn't pause when I stopped until I fixed that in settings, but after that, it did really well.

Great app. I wanted an app to track my mileage on the bike trail. I loved how it told me every mile how far I'd gone and my average speed for the mile. After the last update, my app no longer works on my Pixel phone. I'm stuck with an orange screen and can't see my previous workouts. Ok, so it works great again. I had to uninstall it, shut my phone off, and reinstall it and it works again. I didn't lose my workouts either.

I hadn't used the app for a number of months. When I resumed, the "current speed" indicator had gone wonky. I can be heading down a hill, quickly gaining speed - with the "average speed" showing a small increase as well - but the "current speed" indicator shows a sustained and steady DECREASE in speed. Makes it impossible to monitor my speed and try to maintain a minimum. The rest of the app still works fine.

Perfect app, works great... BUT there is a problem with the audio saying "workout started" and "workout finished" while the person's phone is silenced. It's kind of awkward when I finish my bike ride, go indoors and hold the button down to hear it say that, loudly, in front of family. Aside from that, I would recommend a way to search for an address or location using the app, instead of using Google Maps.

I use this App to drive my horse in carriage, which requires my full attention, so I really appreciate the clear vocal alerts it gives along our route without me having to visually check to see where we are at a certain point. I also love the stats on speed, distance, and time lapses between mileage! Another feature that I personally like for both is sharing our adventures with friends on social media and the detailed map displayed of the route we finished!

I have used this app for over 15 years. I've tried others, but I keep coming back. If I could have one improvement it would be separate default settings depending on the activity. On a bike I want updates every mile and more volume due to wind noise, but running I want updates every quarter mile and less volume. Annoying to have to change with each activity. Add activity type to the settings table and get this done.

I seem to have nothing but trouble with this app. I used it for a long time without issue, but then I would get caught in a Save Workout loop. Even after selecting to discard the workout it would just take me back to the Save Workout window. The only way out is to uninstall and reinstall. More recently I'm getting to my destination only to find that it stopped tracking about halfway, making it pointless to record the rides. Today I'm back in save workout loop and have once again uninstalled.

After getting a new pixel 8 pro, I can no longer log in. I try to reset the password and never get the mail. I've used this app for over 10 years and now I'm locked out. I just created an account with the same email address. MY DATA IS GONE! No way to contact them if you can't log in. Since they are having so many issue, I would avoid this app.

It started with the upsells almost immediately. This just a gateway store for athleticwear. The app is unintuitive. I can see spending a few minutes signing up so it keeps a record. First ride? No easy access to the ride route history. That's an upsell. Criminy, just don't even get me started. If you can't offer me at least a minimum of usefulness free forever, well there's no reason to leave the app on the phone. Goodbye.

I don't have an Apple watch, and this app is amazing for tracking distances and paths. I highly recommend it. The best part is If you're walking around and unfamiliar location, you can retrace your steps to find where you came from. It's easy to lose your bearings walking in unfamiliar areas, I've used the map to find my way back numerous times

08/09/2018 - Have been using Map My Walk for hikes and started using this now that we can bike again. We like it a lot! It gives us what we need to have a productive ride, appears very accurate, and love the auto pause feature! 07/04/2024 - This app still works fine for us! Don't know what other people are having so much trouble with?! We've used it for 6 years and wouldn't use any other.

I love this app. I use it to track both cycling and walking. Setup for a workout is quick and easy. It keeps track of all the important indicators and it maps my location with other useful information during my workout. I love the overview calendar and the ability to edit details of the workout after the workout is saved.

Update: The next version corrected the problem. Changed my rating from 1 to 4 It used to be very good. Now it is only tracking where I am when the screen is on. On a short ride I just took, it showed me crossing creeks 7 times, none where the actual bridges are. I only crossed twice. It showed one straight line from our turnaround point to home

Ever since the last update it constantly shuts down pauses. I don't get my complete tracking. I'm outdoors and a highly populated area. 100% of the time I've had this app for years. Never had a problem but since the last update it absolutely stinks. I have a pixel 5 XL and again I've never had a problem with this app until the last update. It's constantly pausing shutting down. I'll be halfway through my ride and it'll just start recording even though it was recording at the beginning. I

For 2 weeks now Map My Ride has been unreliable, stopping during my walks and bike rides, where it barely tracks any of the ride/walk anymore. I've uninstalled/reinstalled, updated the app, and nothing works. Anyone experiencing this issue? This was my go-to app but I'll have to use something else without a fix. Easy to use, I can follow friends, there are options for cycling and walking, and I love that it keeps my stats. I also like that I can save each activity with a description and image!

The app previously worked perfectly. But, recently, it somehow switched to calculating my cycling speed to include the time when I'm stationary. Ie stop lights, restroom breaks, etc. Which, obviously, means it now requires me to manually pause the app, every time I stop for more than a minute. Why is this? And is there any way to switch the settings back? Thank you.

After last update, app no longer runs in background when phone goes into sleep mode. Turned on all permissions I could find to keep it on, but no dice. It stops tracking. Unless you leave app open on the screen, but then you can accidentally hit the pause button. Need to revert back to previous version. UPDATE (4/12/24): New update fixed tracking issue in previous s/w update. Hopefully new updates will be regression tested to ensure all functionality is working before publishing. Love the app!
