If all you're looking for is to count macros, this is the app! It does take some usage to discover all the features, but well worth the time. I like being able to create a recipe and then consume a portion of it - makes it super simple, just build your recipe (the bar code feature is great and the database well populated), then portion out the final product for your meal(s). After using it for one day I upgraded to premium; the app is really that great!

Started using today and so far it's awesome! The bar code data base is better than noom and fitness pal. I quickly scanned most of my fridge items. If it can't recognize a bar code it scans the nutrition label and pre enters the info!! Already started building recipes. Super easy and intuitive to use. I'll continue to update my review as I use it! I agree with another person's review that adding a workout tab would be highly valuable. Samsung/Apple watch or interfacing with Orange Theory.

This app is awesome! I've been using others like MyMacros and MyFitnessPal for a while now but never liked either of them. I decided to look for something better and discovered Macros First. Wow, what a night and day difference in terms of user-friendly features! I love being able to add things to my "kitchen" in the app and find *my* items easily and clearly when I search. I love how the app converts anything to grams for you if you choose. So much better than the other apps!

I've only been using this app for three days, but it is awesome! Even though I'm not premium, I have all the features I need. I can set a goal for my macros, and create meals from a food list. I can easily scan the barcode of a food and it will fill the information in for me! This app lets you save common foods and meals so you don't have to repeatedly put in the same information. I am loving it!

Holy hell this app is SO much better than the protein tracking app I was using before. I just hope they don't start blasting users with ads like my last one! The barcode scan has been 99% accurate, and the ability to choose partial servings and have the nutritional values change accordingly keeps me from having to do the math. I haven't paid attention to my carb and fat intake much, but now that I can see how many grams I'm eating, I know I haven't been getting near enough of them for my goals.

I just found this app, as I was looking to replace MFP since could no longer enter macros goals on the free version. I love this tracker so much better! Since going plant-based, I just want to make sure I'm getting enough protein and not too much fat or sugar, so this makes it sooo easy to track now, and so easy to see where I'm at. It's exactly what I need ... Love it!! Thank you!

This app is so easy to use and I love how all the information is so clearly displayed. The barcode scanner is clutch, and I love that I can save and copy previous foods/meals so I'm not wasting a lot of time trying to log everything. I used to use MFP, and I prefer this app. The premium version is definitely worth it, especially if you have different goals for different days. Ex. Training vs non training days, or cutting or maintaining weight. Really happy with everything!

Edit: Eventually, the app did open on my phone, and it has been usable. I like the barcode scanner feature, as it does make tracking easier. Wish I could have avoided the tech issue though. This app was suggested to me by a couple of friends. However, I've not been able to access it at all. For a moment it would be a white screen with the logo but would not progress any further. After Uninstalling and re-installing, it's now just a white screen of death.

Moved to this app from Macro Tracker, which is buggy and lost its food search function, making it essentially useless for daily meal planning. before that was Oaty, which is intrusive and impossible to edit to a customized goal. Fitness Pal was prior to that, with limited utility and bugs. MacrosFirst is by far superior to them all. Once I got a handle on navigation and interface, it took me less than an hour to get all of my regular items added in. It is exactly what I've been looking for.

This app makes tracking all my macros so much easier. I used to have "MyFitnessPal" long ago. From what I recall it became tedious logging everything in. Half the time barcode scanner didn't work correctly. Foods not in the data base never logged in properly. I LOVE Macrosfirst! So much easier to navigate, barcode scanner works ALL the time for ANY item. I can customize my needs ie add fiber, sugar etc.

EDIT: A few hours after posting my review, I received an email from customer service with instructions on how to fix the problem via deleting data from the app, and now it works fine. Kudos to customer service! App won't load. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times over the last few days, and it still won't open past the opening screen logo.

I love MacrosFirst. I tried MyFitnessPal and the calorie recommendations for maintenance were soooooo low. I downloaded this at the recommendation of a friend and it's been a game changer. It helped me eat enough when I had to change my diet for health reasons, and it helped me lose weight sustainably this year when my goals changed. I love how customizable everything is, and their customer support is fantastic. Easy to use, good UI, free version has all the info you need. Love it!

I've always recorded my food analogy style as most apps are more trouble than they are worth, until I found MacrosFirst. This app is insanely simple to use and accurate, you can create meals and goof around with serving size to make that meal hit your macros perfectly etc. Also the customer service is second to none, if you have an issue they will fix it promptly, 5 Star all the way around.

PHENOMINAL! I was using another app I paid for for years and didn't love it. I was constantly having to add the foods to the app even though they were quite common, very annoying. There were a ton of other issues, but I just thought they were all like that. I did a course with Biceps After Babies and she suggested this app, totally free so I thought why not and decided to check it out, OMG it's incredible!!! It makes tracking a dream for me!!! Thank you for an awesome app!!!

Update: I've upgraded to the subscription. it's darn near perfect. the only thing I wish it had, now, is a way to connect to my Garmin Lily 2 Active. I hate the other macros tracker (you know the one), but this one is amazing. All of my previous concerns were addressed and improved. Fantastic macros app, it's so easy to use and accurate.

Amazing app, been using it since I started the bulk and have gained 40 lbs. I had always thought I was eating a lot but then I got the app and realized I was far from what I should be eating, since then I got much stronger. The new update will take some getting used to but is definitely an improvement. The app has almost every food you can find but it doesn't have quite the variety when it comes to food I find/hunt in the wild some are hard to find but I do make it work. Also free and ad free.

In depth, accurate, and easy to use.The only thing I can say is, if you're looking for a macro tracker, install MacrosFirst. You won't regret. Smooth running and efficient. It had some bugs before these last couple of updates but they have since been fixed. Am very much looking forward to purchasing premium soon.

eta: last time I tried it, allowed it to sync with another app - either that fixed it, or it was tired. works now. looks very useful. original: app just puts me in a loop. i enter my email address, it only gives me the choice to "open mail." when i click on the button, it takes me to my default email. when i go to the email i use more often, and click "log in" it takes me back to the screen (or maybe it's 2 screens later) when my only choice is the "open email" and here we go again.

This is THE best free macros checker I've ever used! I've yet to scan something that they couldn't find. And my favorite feature, although it might sound trivial to some, is that it will automatically give me the option to measure servings by grams, ounces, tbs, tsp, whatever! Not like MyFitnessPal where those options are limited or you have to do the conversions in your head. I'll probably try the paid version next year to track my sugar intake better.

Only used the app two days so far. It's fairly easy once you figure out a few things (ie when creating food for your kitchen you can't scan the barcode and have it auto populate like when you're searching). I love how it's color coded so it makes it very easy to see. Some features are behind a pretty significant paywall ($80/yr). Disappointed in that respect. However, all the main features I need are accessible in the free version. Thank you for that! Highly recommend either way.
