More About LTE Discovery (5G NR)

LTE Discovery is a powerful signal discovery and analysis tool with many advanced features and customizations available.
Key features:
- Identifies LTE band for Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and several other countries (support for more carriers added with the crowdsource feature and user aid)
- Identifies 5G (for supported new devices)
- Identifies EARFCN and Band for any country/provider when using a Qualcomm processor and ROOTED
- Live band identifier and signal data in the notification bar
- Refresh cell radio (reset data connection) to connect to best signal available* (Note: Google added restrictions in Lollipop and above, so it may require root or be unavailable)
- Automatic refreshing of mobile radio for different conditions
- Alert notification for LTE bands and GCIs (connected and disconnected)
- Save LTE logs
- Automated visual logger (Sprint + Pro only)
- EARFCN band calculator (range and precise UL and DL frequencies) (Pro)
- Wide range of settings to customize your experience (Pro)
- Advanced LTE, 5G, 4G, 3G, GSM, CDMA data (GCI, PCI, TAC, RSRP, RSRQ, band, EARFCN, frequency)

Disclaimer:
- This is an advanced app with some features specific to only some devices/carriers. Many thanks to the community for the support and the questions and feedback.
- "Best signal available" doesn't mean this app can make LTE or 5G appear where there is none. There is no such thing as an "LTE signal booster" app, what actually happens is forcing the device to search again for the best signal rather than staying connected to an older, possible stale connection.
- Not all devices/carriers are supported for LTE bands and other advanced signal data. These are limitations of those devices.
- At this time, the in-app map is only used for showing current location. Though, Sprint+Pro users may have more feature. Support for more carriers is currently in active development.
- From user reports, Verizon sometimes provides tower location, but they are typically inaccurate.

If you work in the industry, feel free to email us if you have any knowledge that may be able to help us. (Our email can be found in-app)

By resetting the mobile connection, you can fix many common network related issues like: continuous low signal, data disconnection, poor call quality, signal instability, and more. You could also fix these issues by restart/reboot your phone, or you could just let LTE Discovery reset your radios in a few seconds. But, better signal quality is not a guarantee, especially if you are in a carrier zone with little coverage.

RATINGS: If you like this app, please support us by rating it 5 stars and helping with a +1, or let us know how we can improve the app. We are always working and striving to improve the app.

SUPPORT: If you notice any problems, please use the "Send debug email" option in-app and provide us as much information as possible about the problem and how we can recreate it.

Great app that gives you all the information about the tower you're connected to plus shows all of the neighboring towers that your phone is picking up on along with their signal strength. Lots of apps like it, but this app is laid out particularly nice and clean.

My biggest issue with all of these tower finder apps is that every one I have tried point to a completely different tower than the other apps. Seems like nothing is consistent. Also,it does not give you a bearing to the tower you are supposedly connected to. Just an arrow which who knows what that is pointing to. All in all, I have yet to find an app that is actually useful in this category.

I've had this app (pro) since it came out. Working great on my OnePlus 6t A10 -Corvus rom. Recently had ALOT of issues with Metro by Tmo. Since TMo got their hands on Metro it's been problem after problem! No data/LTE, slower LTE, and throttle me to hell compared to the 5-6 years I used Metro PCS before Tmo owned them. Tks for being one of few devs who continues to support your work. Highly recommend this app! Imo it's the best one available!! πŸ‘

Great app, love the interface. However, I think the readout of 5g NR bands could use some work. When I have 5g, which should be n78, sometimes it will display a different frequency, like n77 or n48. While these frequencies technically could be correct, they use different ranges. It would be nice if this could be more accurate. In case it is relavent, this was on a pixel 6 pro. Otherwise, this is a pretty good app.

The app used to be useful. I used the map to see which tower I was connected to. I was pointing antennas and found that made the job easier. Now, the map shows me where I am (believe it or not, I already knew where I was) but it just says 'Disabled (beta, early preview.)' I can't find anything in settings that says how to turn it back on, but the app is no longer of any use to me at all. If you know where you are and signal strength (your phone tells you that), having the app is pointless.

Everything possible about your connections presented as simple or complex as you choose, WITHOUT ADS or selling your info. Stock is enough for most, but for ultra-geeks and pros varying levels of extra functionality are available for a modest one-time payment, no f-ing subscription here! IMO It's the best and cheapest for the job; I'd highly recommend it to anyone interested in available signals and where they're coming from, which as an example is perfect for finding out what repeater you need!

Been having serious issues with the app. If I treat to reset the signal in the discovery menus it continues to spin over and over without stopping. Does not do the countdown like before. The only way I have been able to stop it is by uninstalling and reinstalling. But it keeps going back to this issue! Sad because it worked so well for a few months!

NO support of carrier aggregation. phone can be connected to three different bands at the same time but this app does not indicate any of that at all completely distorting the picture and missing the point. Must show all aggregated bands and bandwidths to be of any use. do developers even know how 5g works? showing only the anchor lte band is useless!

this application, i will forever see as my life saver for the remaining time that i own a phone on Sprint. I'm running a Galaxy S5 on resurrection remix (android 9), and this phone's modem has always been finicky at best; my service has now been at a very stable 4 bars in an area that i typically get 2. one thing i absolutely wish worked is the cell radio cycle itself; i don't like having to cycle airplane mode as it turns off the hotspot too, but not rating low as I'm sure it works for others.

Awesome app! Detects Band 12 as well which my area just got. Update: Hey Simply Advanced............can you PLEASE add an option to detect Band 71 too? My area just got it, but your app doesn't have it listed. It would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've found other apps that can detect it, but I'd prefer to use yours. But if you don't then I can't anymore which would suck. Thanks!

The day after I posted the review below, my widget started working again and LTE Discovery reappeared in my PlayStore purchase list. I guess this is the place to speak up. Rating has been upgraded from ⭐ to ⭐⭐⭐⭐. It was an okay app but got better when I paid for and received the Pro version. Unfortunately, my Pro purchase disappeared from my PlayStore list so when I changed phones I'm back to basic features and an inoperable widget. I contacted the author 2X but received no response.

Completely useless. The arrow that is supposed to point to the nearest/strongest tower instead points to me 80% of the time. When i do get it to point away from me, if I turn 10Β° the arrow turns 60Β°. It refuses to point in one direction no matter how I hold or turn my phone. I was trying to align an antenna, but this app made it worse instead of better.

Great Utility! Really is packed full of valuable information however you must explore all areas of the app to uncover ALL details. Not a problem though. The Signal Overlay feature is my favorite part of this program. Having your current signal strength constantly displayed and being able to move it anywhere you want on your screen is wonderful! Thanks Developers for creating this amazing and very useful tool!! Definitely worth a Five Star Rating. And, Five Thumbs Up as well! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

An excellent app to find out which bands I need in case of upgrading my device or during service ups and downs. Detracting a star because I have had a problem where the app HAS to be started once to detect anything for the overlay, but, then, once it is closed, the overlay disappears. It would be good for the overlay to remain running even when the app is closed down. Update: My mistake. There is a setting that was checked that allowed the app to close down everything when it was closed. Unchecked it, and it runs in the BG now. 5* across the board.

This app does not identify the exact location of cell towers on the map. It gives the general direction and distance of one cell tower around you, but does not tell you where the other towers are. It gives some sort of signal heat map that generally follows the main highways, and gives the impression that there are no signals anywhere else. The signal strength indicator is not based in real time. Data consumption rate has increased a lot since installation, and now losing LTE signal frequently.

Great app. Very useful for finding/verifying which frequency band your phone is using/receiving. Also it shows you the direction and approximate distance to your connected tower. However, it only shows which band my phone is using about half the time. Which is the only reason I need this app. Soooooo.....half of the time (maybe a smidgen less) it would receive a 5β˜†+++ rating. The other half of the time it would receive a 0β˜† rating.

Nice premise. Very interesting. I've discovered more about what it does over time. It's a little hard to be sure I understand what I'm seeing and can do. Biggest annoyance? Using the log viewer. I can't understand how the list is sorted and I don't know how to resort it. When I reached 1000 records months ago, no newer data shows up. No clear way reset it. No way to know what data is really being collected and uploaded. No way I'm going to purchase top option just to see how it works

**If you think it's not working, make sure it has location permission. It WILL work after that.** AMAZING app for knowing exactly what band you're on. Used this to install and troubleshoot our new signal booster, plus determine the issue if devices & LTE modem are slow. I was able to see they were connecting to a "faster" band which had extremely poor quality strength and signal. Highly recommend for troubleshooting speeds, using a signal booster and those relying on cellular data for internet.

Wow! Zero ads so far, I highly recommend this application if you need to know the configuration of your device. Easy to read and navigate throughout the app, showing all available info on cell towers and satellites available. I installed this app to verify my phone service was being metered by boost mobile. Boost is so so so slow and it's not my wifi connection or the signal strength. This is a choice made to limit my speeds. Time for a class action.

Great App!. First, I like the fact that you can have your phone's signal rate, strength, and Cell location etc., with the app's overlay ability on the top of your phone's screen at any transparency of your choosing. Second, I like all the many signal metering choices, or options you can apply, or choose to monitor at any given time rate. *Tip; Besides just clicking on and off, you must know that behind those choices there are many, many more options to choose from i.e., you must click on the option's link in order to get behind and open up these many more options. To the developer (s), fantastic job! Please keep up the good work, and develop others.
