I love this app! ❤️😃 It has a lot of variety! It has Cantonese, Thai, Swahili, Punjabi, and other languages which are often overlooked by language apps. But I think it would be better if it allowed users to test out of easy beginner material. I'm intermediate in both Portuguese and Arabic, and starting the lessons from square 1 feels a bit redundant. If I could take a test to prove I'm intermediate, I could start learning advanced lessons faster 👍

I like this app a lot for the diversity of languages it offers, but I have a few suggestions. 1. More interactive lessons/activities. It feels a little bit boring to just be looking at the words and then repeating the same sentences over and over. 2. It would be better to have more types of activity in one lesson, like speaking into the microphone, listening and typing, and typing translations between both. 3. Include grammar and culture notes in each language, or you don't learn to use it.

Lots of fun using this app to learn Irish! The interactive part is great; you listen to an Irish speaker say a sentence and then form the sentence yourself from multiple choice words. You can go as slow or fast as you like, also have the sentence repeated again and again. It also sends encouraging reminders often enough to get you back for another lesson. I do spend more time using the app than I thought I would! ☺

This is an awesome app. It has great UI design and it's easy to use. I like being able to review the words and phrases I've learned after completing a lesson. I've noticed words and phrases are a bit different from the Hello Chinese app. For example, that app only gives 妈妈 as the word for mother, but this app uses both 母亲 and 妈妈 for mother. It also introduces more words with example phrases, which I like as mastering vocabulary is key to being able to communicate with my Chinese friends.

The best language help out there. Like many people, I got fed up with Duolingo and found this as a replacement. Ling is so much better especially since the customer support is very active and responsive. I come across bugs every once in a while but customer support always fixes them and I never have the same problem again. It is well worth the money.

I have used many apps for learning the Thai language and this one is my favorite. I love that it uses a combination of different learning styles. It teaches you sentence structure, reading, writing and listening. It might be a little difficult for a complete beginner, as I had experience with the language before. But if you're up for the challenge, I would recommend this app. To me it feels like a game and keeps me entertained as I follow my progress throughout the lessons. Great Product!

It's the best tool I've found for learning the language I'm interested in (Marathi), and it's got enough content that I will probably keep paying when the free trial ends, but the app itself has a couple problems - the speaking lessons are very buggy on my phone, and I also find it very annoying that when you are choosing words to translate sentences, the word you choose disappears so you have to pause after each word or you will click the wrong one because the one you were aiming for moved.

Note: I was given a premium account for the purpose of this review, but will try to remain totally unbiased I have been a French student for more than a few years now and WOW, this app does an awesome job at presenting things well for beginners. As you get to higher levels the app grows with you. It isn't perfect, and especially the AI has its flaws, but would pay for it if I was a new or returning language learner. Can't vouch for other languages, but French was awesome.

Cute design, lots of languages, but cookie cutter courses. Since the courses for all 52 languages are the same, I can't have confidence that the content is accurate nor natural. As this is a major design flaw and not a singular mistake, I would hope that the team behind this app is taking a proactive approach in fixing this instead of solely relying on user feedback. As is, it makes the app feel unfinished. I will happily give 5 stars when all the courses are tailored to each language accurately

not happy, overpriced. There are not many apps for learning Croatian, so I am trying Ling. The free trial seemed OK, so I signed up for the 1 year membership. I now feel that $80 is far too much for what is offered. There are incomplete features, some sections just say "TRANSLATION", "EXAMPLE", as if place holders were put into the final product and they forgot to add actual translations and examples. The voice recognition is pretty spotty. I feel like I overpaid.

Really easy to use with lots of lessons divided into neat categories from beginner to advanced. Reading, writing, and spoken exercises give a well rounded foundation in your preferred language. Ling is probably my favorite app for learning languages on the go. The free version offers enough value to convince serious students to go pro. Give it a shot. I'm glad I did!

Edit 8/7/2022: I got in contact with support and they were able to fix the speed. Still only 4 stars for now as the speaking recognition is very buggy. Otherwise, great app! Original review: Audio is too fast and not adjustable. The slow and the fast are the same track and things are buggy with settings. I just got the old app yesterday and am very disappointed with the new experience. I wpnt be using the app until the sound issue is fixed because it's unusable.

Using the Android version. It's great to finally have an app for Farsi. The UI is very pretty and easy to use. I think that the free vs pro versions could be separated differently. For example, separating them by having one with ads and one without ads like Duolingo. Or by features like having one with a listening feature and other things and one without, not limiting the lessons to two. As far as content goes, I think there should be a section to teach the Persian alphabet

I love the audio and sentence quality, bite-sized lessons, and fun dialogues at the end of each lesson. However, it would be beneficial to be able to review vocab at the end of the unit or multiple units. As it is, the reviews are unit by unit and are merely lists of vocab. Even simple multiple choice would be a massive improvement. I look forward to this feature in future updates. Update: thank you to the developer for considering this feature!

The app is easy and fun to use. The chat box option is a great way to feel like you are actually in a conversation. The lessons are filled with great vocabulary. I also love that there is a review option of all lessons currently covered. However the app would be better if there was also a review option for just the vocabulary, such as matching or flashcards to help master all the vocabulary.

It's pretty good. I'm learning Cantonese. I'm mostly satisfied, and am building a good vocabulary. However not all translations make sense and I have to consult a native speaker to understand. Also, it sometimes focuses on rote memorization rather than understanding. There are subtle nuances to the language that are glossed over and the dialog portions just throw you in the deep end. Lastly, the mis-translations I've reported still aren't fixed 😢. So it's ok, but there's room for improvement.

Editing from 3⭐ to 4⭐. They're still working on the speech to text issues, so that part of my complaint will remain. However, following through on a complaint ticket was easy to do and their response was timely, so I'm hopeful this issue will be resolved. Other than that it's a good app to learn with, esp compared to Duolingo. It's a piece-by-piece approach with different methods to learn the language, and they have a chat bot to practice conversations. Barring speech part I find it easy to use.

This app has potential and currently offers more languages than other apps. This is the only app I found that offers every language I am studying (for example Thai and Urdu are not common on other apps like Duolingo). Mondly also offers many languages but it will not teach you the writing system. I also didn't really like the Mondly UI. However, Ling UI is buggy and cannot properly size the text for a Google Pixel phone. The last letter is cut off all words and there is no resizing option.

Very good. The audio recognition could be improved. In Tamil, I sometimes get a 100 % and then return to get a 0% on the same word or sentence!. Especially present on borrowed English words- I am an American, and my first language has always been English!. However, I love your app. Keep up the good work!. I'm trying to reconnect with Tamil, which I haven't heard or spoken since age 8, 71 years ago

I think the overall value, as someone who will only ever purchase lifetime access for language learning, is the best on the Play Store. I purchased Drops years ago because they were the only app offering languages I was interested in, but they only do vocabulary and as a mostly fluent Hungarian speaker, I found many of their translations flawed. Ling seems to not only listen to feedback but also consult native speakers so that the curriculum is correct and relevant. Cantonese is going great!
