Lovely concept, gives an audience to a lot of aspiring writers, but the app repeatedly breaks down and crashes. You also run the risk of an entire review you've been writing for half an hour disappearing if you go to a different tab for research too many times. Some of the functions really need updates, like an easier way to see how many of the people you follow follow you back for example. The stats you pay for also don't always update correctly. Overall, vastly superior on PC.

I have never seen an app automatically open up ads in a separate browser without you clicking on them first. There are also ads that cover all the edges of your screen, rendering the app unusable until the ad disappears. This is unacceptable. It makes the app incredibly annoying to use and opens up your device to security risks. Then they have the nerve to charge an insane $20 a month to just remove the ads. I want to use this service, but they are doing their best to push everyone away.

This is fantastic for movie logging and discovery. However, a recent update has caused this app to automatically open ads in a separate web browser which is very annoying. I am fine with in-app ads. Additionally, this update introduced a prompt to enable notifications that appears every time the app starts. The only options are to allow notifications or ask later. Very annoying. If not for those issues this would be an easy 5 star.

Personally love this app. Stylish look, overall easy to use, and great database- even the weirdest random horror films I watch seem to all be there. My biggest issue is that hitting the plus button in the bottom right automatically takes you to write a review for the film you searched. But I hit the plus because I want to ADD a film to my watchlist. Maybe this is just my weird brain, but it's annoying. I have also had the issue with ads opening in my browser, w/o clicking, which is troubling.

I love Letterboxd, coming from someone who describes themselves as a Cinephile this site is a godsend, but unfortunately the app has a lot of issues. Inconsistent is the word I'd use. Randomly crashing, not loading pages. These wouldn't be massive issues if they didnt happen so often. The desktop page works great, but Letterboxd really needs to work on the app side of their service because it's just been getting worse. I will still support this service, but these issues need to be fixed.

Been logging every movie I've watched with Letterboxd since last year. Since I'm a projectionist — movies are my literally my thing, and Letterboxd has made it super easy to keep track of stuff. Ordinarily it would get 5 stars, but I just cannot recommend it after the recent update. The ads are too intrusive now and harm the user experience. It is possible to remove them but $20 annually is just too much. Do yourself a favor and find an APK for an older version instead.

For the insane amount of time it took for this to be released, I'm extremely disappointed with the quality. It is very barebones and pales in comparison to the website. And better yet, the first thing that occurred when I went to log a film, it shut down on me. Hopefully future updates can fix this, and add more polish. Until then, I'll stick to the website. 1 year later: it has gotten a bit better. Load times are still very slow, and notifications for comments and discussion are non-existent. It's hard to socialise when the app does not support it. At least keeping up the film diary has gotten simpler.

Im obsessed with Letterboxd. Love lists, love the community, love the comments. But there are glitches. What bothers me the most is the lists - there are reordering options based on release date etc, but they don't save! I can reorder my list while I'm looking at it, but if I want my list to always present in a certain order, I have to individually move each film to it's spot. But the more time I spend in the app re-ordering, the more likely it is that the app will crash and lose all progress!:(

App is sleek, has a decent selection of films, and a decent tracking system. However, sometimes I'll be browsing a list and come across an issue where if I click on a film to read what it's about or add it, it'll bring me back up to the top of the list. It also happens sometimes when I turn my screen off briefly or if it times out. It's super annoying when I am trying to find movies to add to my watch list and often have to restart the app multiple times to stop it from happening again.

I was looking for an app that was also computer friendly so I can switch between my laptop and my tablet to track the movies I've watched and want to watch. I found this one and I love it. It's clean and simple to use and for the first day it was just amazing. But 2nd day in and I'm going through all the movies and marking what I've seen and it's all glitchy and I keep having to refresh. I keep getting the 'Gremlins are in our server room' page and it keeps happening. Please fix this!

The main home page is really empty (which I find quite odd), and the account verification system doesn't work properly - but this app is great otherwise. Clean & responsive UI, easy way to view movies & their reviews, and a neat way of documenting your watch history. You can even add custom tags to all your reviews! Great place to track & review movies, but I do hope the 2 issues I listed get fixed. Gathers *way* too much cache though. Please fix that.

The latest version purposely lowers user functionality in hopes to annoy people into paying for a membership. Letterboxd is now a shell of what it was. Now, I strictly use it for personal records. I can no longer look into what movies are popular or what the consensus is on those specific movies. All that's left of this app is empty space, ads, and my own profile. I used to enjoy Letterboxd. And no, keeping the top 20 movies available to view is not keeping the feature. You used to see hundreds.

I love lb so much on pc, but mobile app on android gets bad, my only problem is a big one, so I'm going through a list and after going in and out of a few movies it will randomly send me back to the top of the list and get really slow. I've been patient the couple years I've used the app, but after trying to go through a list of 10k plus entries and halfway down after looking at movies hitting back and being sent to the top is too much. Fix it letterboxd please 🙏🏼

Really like this app. The idea of having every movie in one place to save for later watching and rating is a great idea since I love movies. Lately, it has not been pulling anything up. Not sure why. I also agree with another commenter on the annoyance of being taken back to the top of the list after having scrolled way down the list. It is frustrating.

Quite, I found a site like this year's ago, but forgot the URL. Excellent thinking on part of the owners for developing an app, as the website displays in an unusual way and can be frustrating to navigate via mobile. The app fulfills its purpose, I only wish I did not need to link my Google or Twitter to set a profile picture. Another side note, right now the server is experiencing issues. Beyond those criticisms, I have only positives to gush.

My favorite app, im leaving out a star only so I can make some minor suggestions. We could really use a translate feature for reviews, as there are many reviews in other languages that I can not read. It would help reviewers reach a larger audience. It would also be really cool if you could turn on notifications for specific movies so the app could notify you when that movie is in theaters or when it is on streaming services you have.

If you're thinking of getting this, you probably already know what it is. Nonetheless, this is just a great app; does everything it's designed to do in an extremely sleek way. Great at organising, noting down and reflecting on the things you watch while being able to see your friends do the same. The free experience is also totally passable, with ads that are extremely unintrusive.

Love the social media service, but specifically the app? It's a bit awful, a lot of stuff it just doesn't do well or right. Like why is it so difficult to see my own reviews for a specific movie, you would think you could just go to that movie's page and there would be a little button. Overall the website is far superior. Choosing favorites on the app, or making ranked lists, is a futile battle against dysfunctional saving and poorly designed code. I love what the app stands for, but it is bad

Once I found this app years ago I was so thrilled. It's all I ever wanted. All my notes of movies to watch could finally be put into a customizable format. Very easy to use. Love the interface and the stats option. I just wish you could easily mute people you don't want to see reviews from. And I really truly wish there weren't TV shows on there. That's probably the most annoying thing. They should be somewhere separate.

Hands down the best app for Movie fans! Its extremely easy to use, and it's a great way to track your movie watching experience over the years either through logging, rating, or reviewing. The social media aspect is really fun if you like to connect with other fans, but it's completely optional for those who don't want to add another social media to the mix. I used to use IMDb, but the community, app, and website have changed drastically over the years. Thankfully this app came to the rescue!
