More About Learn Japanese. Speak Japanese

Speak Japanese faster than you ever imagined with Mondly’s proprietary ILA-method. How? The secret is to make it simple. Have you ever heard a song in the radio which had you bopping your head and wanting to sing along?
The first step of learning Japanese is pretty similar. You listen to the sound of native Japanese speakers and repeat some of their words.

Mondly’s state-of-the-art speech recognition shows you how well you already speak and where you can improve. It’s fun and doesn’t even feel like learning. Especially because Mondly by Pearson uses your mother language so you never get lost in translation.

The second step is even easier. Take a break. Your lesson is never more than 9 minutes long and here is why: Your brain needs a rest to store the new information. And while you’re busy with your life, Japanese words and sentences get anchored in your long-term memory.

The result: You find yourself effortlessly knowing what to say and when. Don’t worry about the exact timing. Mondly by Pearson gives you control over the entire process. You receive friendly reminders exactly when your brain is set for the next dose of knowledge.

The third step is all about you. Because now you’re ready to create your own phrases and adding your individual touch and personality back into the conversation. And when you want to practice, Mondly’s interactive chat-bot becomes your pocket tutor.

There are over 40 practical, real-life situations which take you to the restaurant, shopping, exploring the city and many more.
But that’s not the only reason why Mondly by Pearson gives you the confidence to speak Japanese. Because the HandsFree mode lets you practice without looking at the screen. Just connect your headphones and you’re in Paris, chatting away with the locals.

Need a quick boost of motivation? Check your progress with the advanced statistics and intelligent reporting. It shows you how far you have come in your journey to master the 5,000 words and phrases Mondly by Pearson offers you.

We all learn in different ways so here are some of the other highlights Mondly by Pearson offers:
• Well-structured grammar drills which integrate seamlessly into the content of the lessons
• Verb conjugations to show you the underlining structure and further boost your confidence
• Reading and writing games to complete your skills and give you full independence

So what does the ILA-Method stand for? It’s Immersive Language Acquisition and it means with Mondly by Pearson you pick up Japanese in the most natural way possible. But don’t trust the over 100 million users who have given the app a 4.7/5.0 rating.

Here’s what the press had to say:

» “The new and sexier way to learn languages” - Huffington Post
» “Closest thing to actual immersion” - TNW
» “A practical approach to language learning likely to be widely adopted.” - Forbes
» “The new way to learn languages” - Inc.com

Join the revolution and speak Japanese now! There’s a new free lesson every day and no ads.

Pretty terrible application, without having premium at least. There are plenty of mistranslated words and akward sentences. They do not introduce or explain anything. They use one word for say plane and then all of sudden their using another word for the same word, leaving you to decipher the usage of each form. The lesson are short, easy and too simple. Just pick images and sentence blocks. They repeat the exact same sentences many times in one lesson. I find this app helped me learn nothing.

Ok so the apps good but during the speaking exercise or "Hands free" (I think that's the name they use) you can't turn off romaji so it's kinda annoying. So if possible in the next update could you make it so you can turn romaji off in the hands free exercise? as you can turn it off with other exercises. Or at least have a option to enable furigana in the speaking exercises. Also a lot of the stuff seems to be locked behind a pay wall.

I'm a veteran of language learning apps for Japanese, because I need to learn and don't live anywhere I could go for more formal classes. The truth is, none of them is perfect. Mondly is good for teaching you everyday vocabulary and grammar, and is mostly easy to use and fun. It falls down occasionally on the chatbot, and I've located occasional errors, but the fact I can identify the errors suggests I'm making progress, so... Better than DuoLingo, and probably on a par with Busuu.

I love this app, it's great and I've been using it for a while to do daily lessons & I add random weekly and monthly challenges to keep me on my toes but SO OFTEN after spending a significant amount of time doing a monthly challenge I don't get credited the points so it's all for nothing. Now I have to slalom through the monthly quizzes to avoid ones I don't get credits for completing. I've reported bugs repeatedly but I never get a response nor does the problem get resolved. Come on Mondly.

It's Japanese learning is good as well as it supports Hands-Free mode so you can check your pronunciation and stuff. But the thing is without a subscription, it's almost completely worthless because there are only ten chapters at most. After that you can only do the daily challenges, which doesn't have same level of speech recognition as normal lesson as well as in daily challenges, You can only learn combination of nine total words as well as phrase.

This had been a 5 star app for me, but the sound quality seems to be buggy now and it cuts out half the time, and almost always ends in staticky noises. Its frustrating since I have payed for it, and I had been worried that my phone's speakers were failing. But this is the only app that is making the crackling noises while it is vocalizing. Honestly, If that was fixed I'd be pretty happy.

The app isn't terrible, but I feel like it's execution isn't the best. I already speak Japanese on what I consider an immediate to advance level. I feel like there needs to be a way for people like me to test into a higher level. Then on top of that, my Japanese Keyboard kept glitching out everytime I attempted to type a word. So it would immediately just go back to English. Which caused me to get everything wrong. The button that switches you from Japanese to romanji doesn't work either.

Buggy translations (voice not matching text which also does not match the English translation), chat bot is unusable (doesn't "understand" a phrase I say and I can't use alternative phrases that would be typical of the context). Better than duolingo since it isn't constantly trying to train me on hiragana and katakana and isn't reteaching me things i already knew over and over

Low customizablity, users only get the choice between complete romaji or hiragana/kanji with no option for furigana. Makes the learning experience completely useless, since you're either reading English characters and learning nothing, or being shown kanji you don't know and are learning nothing. Also, all spoken responses are prewritten, so you're just reciting, not learning. They are testing your ability to read, not speak.

Very true to description: learn short phrases with 5 minutes of practice daily. The basic lessons can be repeated every day a new lesson is available all day. Presented uniquely for easy learning however not enough content to learn the whole language. For that you have to pay. However there is an a great feature that allows you to converse to practice your speech. This app is great addition to use with a language class or another program.

I love that they take something so complicated and they split it up into manageable chunks to allow you to get your head around it. Makes it a little simpler. It has many options when it comes to answering quizzes. You can use kanji, you can have it shown in romanji or if you think you know how to say it you can do it that way which really let's you practice speaking it.

Don't install this app unless you're ready to start on it IMMEDIATELY. It constantly harasses with notifications you can not turn off till going through the excessively long intro. I use and have tried a lot of different language apps. The setup on this one really needs reworking. I finally uninstalled to stop the lame prompting. Maybe I'll try it again in a few months, but there are definitely plenty of other alternatives with a better interface.

downgrading my rating to 2 stars. way too many issues, especially with the daily lessons, make it not enjoyable. While the learning style is solid and useful, the context is terrible at times, and randomly it will ask in daily lessons to spell a word you just leaned, like astronaut in Japanese, literally 10 seconds ago. And even if you're right other times youll be hit because there were 3 same letters "out of order" But the real rating killer... is the constant "special offer" harassment.

I think this will actually work for me. I've tried so many apps in the past, but this is about putting sentences together and becoming fluent. The conjugation goes right alongside phrases and vocabulary building. Conjugation and sentence structure is what is usually lacking on apps, but this is great. I'll be upgrading to premium soon. I wonder what helpful tools there are. Good job, team! Thanks. I'll write my next review in japanese lol!

Interesting app. I don't like the lesson structure. It seems to jump all over the place. There are a few simple lessons for beginners, then when you go to do speaking lessons, they teach things that were never discussed or taught. I wish there was a more gradual progression with the language for true beginners. Also, it doesn't go over katakana, hiragana, or Kanji but expects you to translate the sentences. Or, you can switch to romanji but that is never recommended by Japanese.

I have a major issue. Why is the only choice: romaji or kanji? Why not kana? With only kanji, I don't have the chance to know how to pronounce the kanji. And anyone that knows anything about learning Japanese knows that romaji should be abandoned immediately. The function of the app seems to be good, but I will need to continue with the trial for a little longer. Edit: You lose another star because even though notifications are turned off in app, you still send pop notifications.

So far, so good! I have been using another language problem that shows me pronunciation of characters and words and it's been fine, but I've appreciated that Mondly shows me the word in letters, speaks it aloud, and also allows me to see parts of speech! Previously I was struggling to grasp the grammar and sentence structure uses in the language, and although I've only been using Mondly for a couple of days, I've seen a lot of that type of content! Thank you for helping expand my understanding!

I think it's very well done. I wanted something for my phone & user friendly, Mondly is. Very effective in training your ear. Review is blended well with new material. I also like that you can bounce around and dive in to so many different areas. However, lessons can be overwhelming, grammar & structure not explained, demanding rote memorization. Early requests to translate full sentense, in writing, English=Japanese. Seriously?? Repetition & daily use is key. Star ratings vs other users is BS.

I enjoy this app, been using it for many years. can pick it up whenever I am ready and learn at my own pace. Not only have I been learning Japanese for 100's of hours, but I can also study any language where I might want to use wherever I travel. It gives you agm good, varied and effective way to be able to speak and understand another language. Even allowing you to learn in the language's own symbol systems, if you want to do that, too! I upgraded to premium and it has been well worth it!

well, I think the development of this app could be worse, but also way better. I go from simple imagery matching to conjugated sentences without an introduction of any kind. the idea of trial and error is definitely visible here, but error over and over again does not help learning a language when you first start. I have experience learning languages as I have learned Chinese and Spanish. I self taught myself Chinese, and had a teacher for Spanish and neither was trial and error so constant.
