I've been using KODI as my primary media device since 2009. This is one of the best (if not the best) open source media players hands down. It has played every single strange media format I've thrown at it, to the point I dont even question it. If its a video file Kodi will most likely play it. It takes time to configure, which allows for a customized experience tailored directly for your needs. Its simple but consistent UI in Estuary is aesthetically pleasing to the eye (over the old Jarvis interface) And the fact that its free is amazing.

Don't know what the hell is going on over the past couple weeks but I have not been able to use Kodi in about a month. Been using it on a Samsung S22 Ultra plus for 6 months flawlessly and now I get some message about a bug but the developers trying to fix then my phone puts it a "deep sleep" automatically. Not at all pleased.

Just did the Kodi 19 update, Absolutely hate it. I loved it before this update, was simple and easy to find anything I wanted to watch... now however that is not the case. Hard to find shows I watched before, hard to get it to play anything and it crashes all the time. It doesn't show a description of the movie/TV show. Been trying to get it to play one TV show for almost an hour now, and only been able to watch one episode since 5am. Its terrible!

100% Does NOT work with my device. The start up screen starts to load for less then a second or two & then goes completely black. Force Closed Application. Restarted Phone.. Cleared Cache.. Cleared App. Data. Tried adjusting my application settings. Background Data usages. Uninstalled. Reinstalled. You name it, I tried it.. Nothing worked. I love Kodi. I am BUMMMED. I want my KODI !!!!

When it works it's great, but over the past few years that's become more and more rare. It CONSTANTLY freezes and crashes, and I have to force close it more than probably every other app combined. I can't do anything with it anymore because of its extreme fragility, and so it's become worse than useless. Downhill and problematic since Krypton.

I like the app, the only issue i have with it is each of my anime/tv series folders on my drive has an individual image for it, when i started up my old 4k box, it should show the image instead of a blank folder icon. This app shows folders list, no icons. The only way to get the image as the folder is to access my drive threw the "pictures" part of the app. I really wish it was like that with the Movies/Tv part of the app. Looks so much nicer seeing all the different icons

I wish it was easier to update the movie players better. It plays it good for a certain amounts of time, then it gets hard to play the movies. Just wish that there was an easier tutorial to updating it and maintaining the applications. Besides those problems, its an awesome app to have when on a low budget, when it comes to watching movies and/or tv shows.

I have been reading alot of the reviews on this app; I too agree there is a huge crash problem. However; my advice to those who know their devices... (As a dev) it is possible to set your device to install from unknown sources from a web browser and find an older version of the Kodi app like Leah 18.9. By doing so you won't have as many crashes and it will help with some of the bug issues.

I've tried multiple add-ons and can't get anything to play at all. I've tried different titles also. I've restarted my device. Cleared Kodi cache. Tried with VPN on and off. Tried LTE and wifi. Tried updating the add-on. It acts like it wants to play the video. A loading box will pop up for a few seconds then disappear. I used this app a couple years ago and it was great. Now it seems to be useless. The UI has always been a mess. They try to make it look like an entire OS. The keyboard is trash.

This latest update is a total nightmare. My Nvidia shield just automatically updated the version 19.0 and not only did it break most of my add-ons but I can no longer view any of my media over the network from my home media server. I should have checked the reviews before uninstalling and reinstalling the app because now I have lost all my playlists and all my add-on configurations and it is still broken!

Fantastic idea. Messed up my phone completely though after downloading the add on onto my SD card. My AT&T note 4 had the root counter tripped, booted into a "custom" safeboot, lagged horribly and wouldn't connect to the network. After removing my SD card, phone went back to normal. I'll be removing those Kodi files off the SD. Wish it worked, because it was awesome!

love it when it works. sometimes the add-ons disappear and i have to redownload a build. it's not too complicated because i have a kodi configurator but it can be frustrating. it also takes a LOT of room to install the app and the build that makes it work. otherwise, great app. i tell all my friends about it. if these few small issues could somehow be remedied, I'd give 5 stars in a heartbeat but they are not serious enough to make the app an uninstall.

Aside from erasing and then making it nearly impossible to remap to an existing home media server, it's also completely useless after the latest update. It's cumbersome UI no longer supports the best skins and themes available, it does not seem to be able to download and support any required dependencies in order to properly function. Every attempt gives a "not compatible with this version" error. Developer's completely blew it on this one.

Edit: Okaaaay, switching the phone to 60hz (standard refresh rate) allowed me to enter the app. Changing the APP'S refresh rate from 60 to 48 allows it to work on my phone. Probably has something to do with Variable Refresh Rate, so check that first. Now that I'm in, the UI looks awful and I'm stuck in landscape. Features over Plex seem interesting, but fairly niche on a phone. Original: Doesn't work on S20+ running 1UI4 and Android 12. Dumps me into a black screen. Plex seems to work better.

Anyone who gives KODI a bad review citing the inability to connect to (( whatever )) is wrong. KODI will connect to virtually anything via any network protocol. Like any powerful app, it requires a bit of time and thought to set up, so it's not for the lazy or stupid, but if you want a power packed media player, this is it. if you want an app that does everything for you, keep looking.

Plays everything I throw at it. Has a built-in file browser. Sound sync works correctly, (most players don't sync correctly.) Though x265 files play choppy on most devices, that's the hardware. Extremely configurable and frequent. The bad; vlc has auto find server. Kodi doesn't, so one has to configure their server information themselves. The gui may be confusing at first. The text on most skins is very small on my small TV.

Since the release of Jarvis I have had lots of bugs like freezing, no startup, different button issues (shield tv) such as menu not coming up, links stalling or failing to open all together, and constant buffering on occasion. The only thing that seems to help is clearing app data and starting fresh. Please fix this so I dont have to find another app to stream from my pc. The experience on Isengard was flawless, maybe it was the recent marshmallow update. Whatever it is it needs to be addressed.

This app used to work great on any Samsung phone I had, until now. Samsung S22 Ultra, and every time I open the app, I see 'preparing for first run' and I see the version info, and the opening picture, then it goes black. I uninstalled and tried downloading 19.4 from kodi.tv, same thing. I have it on my S7 tablet and firestick and it works fine. Just not my phone. Help would be much appreciated! And I will change my rating. I'll keep searching for a fix for now.

Without this app, my experience on my projector would be mediocre. This is the only app that allows me to move the videos (with black bars) to the lower end of the screen. When watching on a 184 inch screen, I don't end up hurting my neck, but I can now look straight. NO OTHER PLAYER ALLOWS THIS!! And then you have all the best features of a video player. So Thank You Kodi! Just one thing. I see the options to zoom in, but it doesn't work. Would be an icing on the cake if you could fix it.

Getting better and better. Tireless work by devs to keep the best android media handler up to par. Sure, it has it's quirks but if you learn how it works most if not all issues can be eradicated easily. I've found after 15 plus years from xbmc till the present, the key is don't overload the core with add-ons you don't need or use. Find ones that work for you thru trial and error and remove ones that don't. Keeping it uncluttered it will sing along with ease. Cuts the cord. It deserves 6 stars.
