What is Killer Sudoku

Killer Sudoku is a true legend among number games and puzzles. In a nutshell, it’s a perfect blend of those fave brain-twisters Sudoku and Kakuro. Absolutely free!

This number puzzle goes by many names: Sumdoku, Addoku, Cross Sum, etc., but the rules are equally simple across the board. Your goal is to fill the grid with numbers like in classic Sudoku while making sure the sum of numbers in the cages (areas separated by dotted lines) is equal to the number in the upper left corner of that cage. Still sounds complicated? Let’s review the Killer Sudoku rules in detail.

How to play Killer Sudoku

✓ Fill all rows, columns, and 3x3 blocks with numbers 1-9 exactly like in classic Sudoku
✓ Pay attention to the cages – groups of cells indicated by dotted lines.
✓ Make sure the sum of numbers in each cage is equal to the number in the upper left corner of the cage.
✓ The basic rule of Killer Sudoku is that the sum of all numbers in each 3x3 block, row, or column always equals 45.
✓ Numbers cannot repeat within cages, a single row, column, or 3x3 region.

Minimal ads, but if there is any, they interrupt you in the middle of a game, right after a move. It's annoying. If it isn't in the middle of a game, it's before/after doing an event or daily which I don't mind. I like that there's an option to turn off losing after making 3 mistakes. I also like the skins for the boards, they're nice but I'd be nicer if there was more options.

Been playing for quite some time. Like others, the ads are a bit intrusive while popping up in the middle of a game, but it's not that bad. Would really like to see some way to populate EVERY empty square at start of game with ALL POSSIBLE "note" values by just tapping a single button once, rather than manually picking a value and swiping across a row or column to fill them in.

I enjoy the actual game, but the ads in the MIDDLE of a puzzle are incredibly annoying. I understand having them at the beginning of a puzzle, but right in the middle?? I'll have a series of entries planned, and the ad will throw me off. Again, I will reiterate. I don't have a problem with the fact that there are ads. I know that the game creators need to make money somehow. It's the placement of them in the MIDDLE of a puzzle while I'm focused on my next steps.

An interesting twist on the Sudoku formula. The lower difficulties are a little too easy with the math and can easily done in ~5min. You can make a limited number of mistakes, but can watch ads for extra attempts. My only complaint is how frequently the ads show up. Extra life? Watch an ad. Win a game? Ad. Start a new game? Ad. Want another hint? Ad. They kill your momentum and with my ADD they kill my train of thought. TLDR: Cool Sudoku spin, but too many ads.

The game is fun and challenging, but the free version is infested with ads. The ads really take away from the enjoyment of the game. Any time you finish a number, it interrupts with an ad. At minimum there are 8-9 ads a game, not including the ones every time you pause or lock your screen.

I like it completely! I just wish you'd change one thing: when I type a wrong number in (for example, 7) it is wrong, it still erases the "7" notes I had in other boxes of that row, column, etc. Then I think oh there's only one number there so I type it in and get two errors for the price of one! No biggie, but it would greatly help! Thanks!

I would give this game a 5 star but the one and only input option causes me a lot of mistakes takes I get a mistake almost every game be cause the numbers are too close it's super annoying you can beat your time when you have to be Cautious clicking numbers I've bin play for 2 years now. Ads are getting ridiculous. It's every few secs There's an ad doesn't make sense. It's killing the fun of the game.I understand that it's needed to maintain the game. But it seems like you're just being greedy

Love the game too many ads. I've been playing on and off for several years but starting this year the number of ads have gone from 1 or 2 a game to 4+. So going to uninstall because it's too much and v annoying. I get the need for revenue - but that's excessive. Oh and the ads are always the same so boring as well as annoying.

I played daily and it used to be a great game. The ongoing trend is shorter and shorter times between ads, now you can't play a game without an ad every 45-60 seconds. I get it, the ads help everyone play for free, but when you spend more time watching the longest ads possible than actually playing the game, it's time to move on. They really are trying to force you to pay for ad removal. All they've really forced me to do is uninstall.

Of all the Sudoku apps I've downloaded, I am enjoying this one the most. There is a daily Sudoku puzzle, as well as tournaments that rotate. I can stop the game at anytime, and come back in to pick up right where I left off with no trouble. The tools for making notes and placing your guess are great. I like how the boxes are outlined so the numbers contained add up to a certain value that's noted on the outline. It does help when you get into the harder levels, and is like a game in a game.

The daily game is fine, but any time I play the challenges, there is a significant delay between pressing a number and it appearing on the board. I find myself having to wait all the time to make the next move and it's extremely frustrating. Like I feel like I could easily have the games be less than 3 minutes, but if I'm waiting 1 second before each move, that adds 81 seconds! If I try to play by not waiting, I sometimes confuse the game and get mistakes not my fault.

I'm fine with ads and understand the need, but after a recent update the ads are too invasive - they play too frequently and some of them can't be skipped after 5 seconds. Also, they are playing in the middle of games now instead of in between games. Finally, some of the ads sound pornographic and I have to scramble to turn my volume down. The app is extremely well done otherwise - very responsive, clean UI, and seemingly bug free. Ill be finding another sudoku app instead.

To be clear: I COMPLETELY get the need for ads & truly appreciate being able to play for free, but now they're excessive! I love the game & used to have it at 5 stars. But it went from 1 ad after you finished, to 1 partway through and 1 after (which was fine), to ads after every 1–2 minutes of play. That's a LOT when you're playing on Expert, which can take more than 10 minutes sometimes. It's disruptive and makes me lose my flow. I'm trying other creators until Easybrain reduces the ads.

Update: the number of ads is now unhinged. Literally every 3 minutes in a puzzle means an ad break. Also an ad when you hit the app, another when you load a puzzle, another if you have to pause and come back, and another to get your final stats. Just finished a 14 minute puzzle and had no less than 6 ads. Original: Too many ads. The game is well programmed but the amount of ads you have to watch to play is getting absurd.

The latest update seems to have limited the number of times you can undo. I only like to play expert but on especially difficult ones sometimes I try it a solution and may need to hit undo many, many times. Tonight was unable to do so. May have to delete the app as I don't want to fully restart reach game if I can't do unlimited undo's.

Was a fun game, but ads are out of control and privacy tracking is horrible. Used to have maybe an ad during the game and one after, but now has ads interrupting every two or three minutes. Horrible for privacy: The app has let 21 different companies track my phone and usage over 3,000 times in the past few days. There are so many alternatives, why keep using this one?

I've played this game for a long time but the ads recently have increased a lot. also are there no longer unlimited undos? when you play on expert mode sometimes you need to go 50 moves deep to figure out it you are going the right direction. really disappointed that I can't use the undo button like I used to. it would be different it there was a counter to show how many you have left but there's not...

This did have five stars. Now there are so many ads, I have to uninstall it. When you open the app, an ad plays. When you choose a puzzle, another as plays. During the game, one to three ads play. When you finish a puzzle, another ad plays. My average time per puzzle is 5 minutes, and I get 4-6 ads. I'll pass on this one.

I love the game. I hate the ads. There are way too many ads. Sometimes, I only have a little bit of time but I can't finish the game because the ads are too time-consuming. Make two or three moves and there's an ad. Figure out a difficult square, there's an ad. For the first time that you use all of one number (e.g., all of the 5s), there's an ad. Also, the ads are of varying lengths. Some are quick - 5 secs. Others are too long, and I have fallen asleep. I quit and good night.

It was a great game until a week or so ago when ads tripled. It takes me out of the game every couple minutes and throws off what I'm working on. It takes a few seconds to get back into the game. It has ruined a really great experience. The challenges are worthless because of ads. It's more of an advertisement loop than game play. At least the ads are short.
