More About Kentucky Route Zero

Available exclusively for Netflix members.
Unpayable debts. Abandoned futures. Mysterious travelers. Journey down a secret underground highway to find community in this mystical adventure game.

At twilight in Kentucky, as bird songs give way to the choir of frogs and insects, familiar roads become strange. It's easy to get lost. Those who are already lost may find their way to a secret highway winding through underground caves. The people who live and work along this highway seem a little strange at first but soon become familiar: the aging driver making the last delivery for a doomed antique shop; the young woman who fixes obsolete TVs surrounded by ghosts; the child and his giant eagle companion; the robot musicians; and the invisible power company lurking everywhere and the threadbare communities that struggle against its grip.

Features:

• A complete story. Originally published episodically over a span of years, all five acts and the interludes can now be experienced together.
• A striking visual style that draws from theater, film, experimental electronic art and the history of video games.
• A haunting electronic score and a suite of hymns and bluegrass standards recorded by The Bedquilt Ramblers.

From Cardboard Computer and Annapurna Interactive.

Good concept amd quite fun game but it's confusing because there's no target list to achieve in every chapter. You just have to explore randomly to find the target. I ended up have to check the guides online and find out there are things that I missed and have to play chapters again.

Interactive and artsy, but I can't proceed to Act 3 no matter what I do. Seemed bugged.

Writing from a Pixel 8. It just doesn't open, and closes immediately. EDIT: It works now! Original review from March 2024.

It crashes on load when it gets to the Netflix authentication. This happens on about half of Netflix games. I know it's not a problem with my account because l some Netflix games work just fine, and I have a pixel 7 pro so it shouldn't have any problems running the game.

An absolutely phenomenal experience. Seeing one of my favorite games on phone really made my harsh day better, and I can't believe, I will be able to continue the surreal experience of this beauty on my handheld device. Great sound design, amazing storytelling, breathtaking music. This game is the definition of perfection.

Not your typical game, more of an experience. There is no clear objective, so you just meander your way through. As such, when you get stuck or encounter a glitch, it can be infuriating. Definitely an interesting concept for a game and it has a unique style. The game takes place entirely at nighttime, so you'll need to crank the brightness. It wasn't until I consulted a walkthrough that I discovered there's a colorful version of the game. I'm not sure how I feel about my experience in the end...

I would give this game five stars if it opened. I played several chapters but one day it stopped booting. Closes itself in less than a second. All other recent reviewers are right. Netflix, Annapurna, yo. Fix this, you're back to 5 stars and I'll edit my review. A beautiful and relevant game, breaks my heart. Play it elsewhere, this version is broken.

I want to like this game but there's some bugs that need to be worked out. The characters on screen are really tiny, while the back ground is huge, making it almost impossible to see what or where you're supposed to click, and I have a large phone. Also the sound seems to drop in and out, especially using BT headphones.

I really wanted to love this game: it looks great, the story is engaging, there's a real sense of mystery and atmosphere, and the soundtrack is perfectly pitched. But it's just too slow. You can wander around different locations and still not feel like your really getting very far, and some locations you get taken back to for seemingly little reason. Maybe I'm just too impatient, and something like this is maybe better suited to a proper gaming session rather than casual play.

It works perfectly on my phone (android 10) but what I hate about this game is that when you are left wondering what to do next it doesn't do a good job of guiding the player. It's always trial and error but not in a satisfying way. I was playing Creaks today on pc and it does that job really well. No words, no handholding. It only makes it easy and intuitive for players to figure out what to do next. Play that game and take notes.

Completely broken. When you try to open it it immediately closes itself so you're not able to play. It's just a waste of storage space. If they fix this and actually make it playable maybe my review will change but since there are people from January saying the same thing I doubt that this is gonna be fixed anytime soon.

The graphics are amazing. Beautiful. The gameplay sometimes is riddled with bugs and dialogues that wouldn't trigger. The dialogues are too long, too stretched. I bet most people lose interest because of that. I almost did. Overall the premise was promising but the execution was poor. Alas it is what it is, and it's not for everybody. As for me, 10/10 I wouldn't play that for the dialogue anymore.

Nice aesthetics but I've still literally no idea what's going on and I'm hours into it 😂 plenty of reading though most of it seems of little value. Dude slowly looking destined to a life a skeleton in the brewery. Utterly bizarre

I've already completed this game on console, so I must add: it's a lot more fluid than mobile, obviously. But it doesn't disappoint. It's one of my favorite games of all time, and I am forever grateful to Cardboard Computer for making this masterpiece of a game. I've never played anything that compares in depth or gives the immersion feeling that Kentucky Route Zero gives. At first it does require a bit of patience to get through the texts, but when you start to appreciate it, it's surreal.

Dropped the game in act 4. Tons of senseless dialogues. Completely no understanding what's going on. The game just wastes hours of your time. Though I love visual style and singing scene in act 3.

Loved the storyline, thoroughly enjoyed the characters, engaging premise. I had no dialogue issues luckily. Definitely recommending to anyone with a spare hour.

The game runs and plays great on my phone. Just be aware that it does a lot of background downloading without telling you so leave your Wi-Fi on or risk having it pause between acts without giving you the reason as to why. The reason I've given it 3 stars is that it's not really a game at all. It's a visual novel with some mild point and click aspects. The plot isn't that great, doesn't go anywhere or have much of a coherent story. It was made by art students and you can tell.

It took me a little while to figure it out and almost deleted it but stick to it, it's worth it! I think it's more of an interactive story, you choose what's going to happen while trying to figure out what the heck is going on. All I can say is whoever made this game had a very creative imagination! My only issues are having to repeat a few things because it didn't save and everything is so dark, I would like to see more in the design. Overall it's a good game, different and thought provoking!

this is an amazing game, but the lack of a manual or autosave means I am currently repeating a 20 minute scene I've already almost finished twice, just because the window was minimized for a moment on my phone. additionally, once the game has been minimized and then maximized on the screen, it loses all audio. some scenes are so slow moving, and the audio is a necessary part of the game. please fix this because I want to love this game. the story is incredible, the characters feel so real.
