Italki is an amazing resource for language learners. I have had both the experience of being a teacher and s student, and I have been very satisfied with both. It really is an excellent resource, and has clearly been thought out with both teacher and student experiences in mind. I strongly recommend it as a service for you language learning needs. It is a great app and site. Similarly, it provides really good value for learning languages quickly and well. Highly recommended!

This is the best choice for actually learning a language, instead of playing a video game that makes you *feel* like you're learning. I've been on the app for 1.5 years and have probably spent >$1,000 dollars with them. But I think I've learned more than if I'd taken 3 years of college classes in this language. The money has been incredibly worth it.

Brilliant idea. Wish it was around when I was learning other languages. From experience I can tell you most learner's speak better after a couple semesters and having fully immersed conversations than learner's studying the most advanced classes in a school. It is awkward at first, especially for your first language you learn. It takes a few hours of struggling but then you start learning it in real way versus books. Just don't make mistake when difficult to switch back to first language.

The customer service is really quite terrible. I used a referral link in order to get a $10 credit, and for some reason the credit didn't go through, even after purchasing $30 of additional credits and waiting the requisite 48 hours. When I contacted customer support, the Beijing-based representative was curt and simply kept repeating that they had no record of my link (even after they asked for the link and I provided it) and closed the ticket. I thought that was pretty rude and callus.

The app and classes and teachers are great but the app does not work over bluetooth. Evrytime I have a bluetooth device for audio, the app bypasses it and forces speaker audio without option to switch. It makes listening and comprehending that much more difficult in a loud environment. Edit: Customer support immediately jumped on the case and ended up telling me they didn't want to try too hard to fix so I should use desktop app instead.

It's good overall. One problem is you can't sort My Teachers by language (like on the website). The tutors are a mixed bag. Some really don't know what they're doing. I wish I could hide teachers I didn't like, don't work for me, or am not interested in from the search results. That would save me time looking for new teachers. Some don't use my preferred communication tool and it's a waste of time trying to find that out every time (you find out after attempting to book a lesson).

This is a great program! If you want to learn a language you have to start talking and interacting in it. The community tutors are a great way to do that. They provide good instruction and great opportunity to practice. Most of the negative reviews I have seen are that they are phasing out the language exchange function. If that is what you want, use Tandem, which does it better. This program is for paid tutoring sessions that are usually very reasonably priced and well worth the money.

I us italki on my phone and laptop. Both seem to work just fine. I haven't tried italki classroom on my app, I don't even know if its an option. I prefer a bigger screen for that. All the features I've used work without problems so far. I'm working on Mandarin with an instructor and I'm so happy I found her!! She is amazing and I'm actually ahead in class and I want to speak up and answer questions. I look forward to learning another language with an italki instructor. So happy I found this!

ITALKI classroom disappointed me. I was very excited to use the recording feature. I had about a 20% success rate. Customer support didn't offer a solution. It would seem like my class was being recorded. When the class concluded, the pop up screen to save didn't appear or it would just spin. I switched to Skype - no problems at all.

iTalki has gone from being from of the strongest language learning apps to the absolute worst. The app itself is bloated, slow, and not the least bit intuitive. on my newest version of Android there are bugs that dont even allow me use filters to find a language partner. If I select the language, it doesnt let me continue on to the next filters. As a teacher, it is impossible to change ANY TEACHER SETTINGS on the app, and the mobile site automatically directs you to the app. Impossible to use.

I've been using Italki for about 2 years to learn Japanese, and I've found several amazing tutors that I work with routinely. Italki classroom is good, and if there are issues, they permit you to use outside platforms such as Zoom or Skype, which is great. I don't really use the app for lessons, but for messaging and scheduling, it works just fine. My experience on the platform has been pretty seemless over the many lessons I've done. I recommend Italki to all language learners I know.

No way in app to contact support. App said I had coupon if I spent 100, but when I paid I got 0 for the coupon. Very sleazy. Also when you pay they add on another service charge of 4 or 5% depending on payment method. Scheduling is clunky. This is the main purpose of the app, but it is tiresome to use. You have to book one lesson at a time and pay for each one as you book. There is no way to book a series of lessons in one go.

It was a pleasant surprise to discover that italki offers several payment options, and in this way I can more easily manage my budget. I was already able to book 3 lessons and I paid per lesson, without any complications. Now, when I’m sure I want to keep the same tutor, I’m considering booking a package of 10 and I’ll receive a cheaper price. Very good!

Got this app because I wanted to upload files directly from my phone to the messages. When I found out I couldn't do that I was disappointed. Good platform but the app is missing this critical feature. Edit: reply to my comment misses the point. I'm aware that you can share files if you're a premium member. The feature works fine on the desktop site. But I take pictures of native materials with my phone and want to send them directly to the teacher from my phone. The APP cannot do it.

I don't know what the problem is but all of a sudden I can't upload pictures in messages. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. This issue is on all of my devices. Screenshots of my homework and vocabulary were the best way for me to get feedback from my teacher. The app is a bit buggy but it never bothered me before. But this issue is quite frustrating

I have been using italki for a couple of years in order to learn Spanish. It's an ideal way to learn a language because you can select what country the teacher comes from. I chose Venezuela because that country is having such difficult financial issues, so my weekly lessons can also help someone who could really use a few U. S. dollars. I also like the fact that I can select a teacher who is not fluent in English, so it forces me to learn in a more immersive environment.

I love the idea of matching up with teachers all over the world, and actually having conversations with people, get real-time feedback, and enjoy the flexibility of a real person on the other side. I also love the ability to find the teacher who is right for you. Specifically. I tried one and it wasn't a good fit, and then I tried another. Who is perfect for me. Scheduling and purchasing of packages could be friendlier and more intuitive.

This app makes it easy to finally reach your language dreams at your own pace with easy scheduling, finding the right teacher who's a good fit for you and reminders for your lesson. I particularly love how easy it is to schedule sessions. I also really appreciate it. The free trials to see which teacher is the best fit for you. I highly recommend it. I've used it for Italian and currently using for French.

Once you find the right teacher for your personal goals, italki is perfect! The trouble is that there are so many great teachers on the app. Worth it, the app makes it easy to connect with a teacher and keep a schedule. There are lots of features on the app too that I have yet to discover. Highly recommend!

Wonderful resource! I am picking up new vocabulary naturally as we go through the lessons and conversation. I even got to be a part of the story and dialogue with one of its characters. My tutors have been patient and could pick up when I got lost and helped me get back on track. If all goes well, I'll be looking for iTalki to book lessons for when I'm on vacation or even twice a week during the school year. You break more ground in your language learning when you book 10-20 sessions at a time.
