Used to love this app, just used it for personal ideas, not professionally but really enjoyed browsing the photos. But recently had to do a factory reset on my phone and was gutted that when I logged back in all my ideabooks were no longer there. Had spent years building these up! Have emailed customer support but no answer as of yet. ** Have just amended review back to 5 stars as I received a reply which has solved the problem and I'm all back up and running. Many thanks for the support.

Wants access to contacts and wants me to sign in and provide personal and location details...why? Not giving that stuff to this app

I feel like when I first started using the app, there was a lot more information about the designs, such as paint colors and where things were actually bought. The reason I removed so many stars is the scroll functionality. All of the pages don't scroll well and you often end up clicking on pictures or similar item tags. Doesn't happen in other apps, so it's got to be something wrong with Houzz. It's so frustrating to use, I just rage-quit eventually.

No longer usable. Can't log in via email link or with Google. Oh well

Use caution with Houzz "pro" recommendations. We feel in retrospect that the good contractors are not on this app. Houzz's contractor "awards" are a bit dubious and likely paid for by the contractor. CCB complaints tell a very different story from Houzz's recommendations.

11/27/19 I originally gave the app five stars. Recently, however, the app says there is no network connection when there is one and everything else on my phone is connected. This is VERY frustrating! Update - 12/18/19- I was told the connectivity problem was fixed, but I still am unable to connect most of the time. Going down to one star.

The app is not easy to use, rarely functional, hard to navigate. I spent quite a bit as a designer last year and was never able to use it. The floor plan tool did not work in a room with furniture. The educational videos are buried in a place that is not obvious. They ask for your clients contact information and i feel that is uncool. So not happy, bad investment.

Terrible app. Glitches all the time. Also a terrible website where nothing works. Uploaded photos don't appear. Can't put spaces between paragraphs so everything is in one long paragrapenter. Can't add photos to original post, only to responses. Sometimes text won't enter. This website sucks royally since Houzz took over. I've been away 5 years, so by now the kinks should be ironed out, but they are not. It is literally the worst forum design on web or app I've ever used.

P.S. In later iterations of this app, more problems have cropped up. Now I get frequent notifications that there is no network connection yet all my other apps function just fine. I'm TRYING to check a shipment status and can't. Also, Houzz is increasingly resembling an ad showroom for professionals in the design industry. Too bad nearly EVERYTHING is too pricey for me. You could make room for low-budget real people, y'know...

Houzz was my go-to app for the past few years while we were planning and building our home in another state. The feature of saving ideas for our architect and decorator was crucial to planning and made a difficult process run more smoothly. I rely on input from Houzz for new ideas, problem solving, and price comparison. The easy app puts all this in my pocket!

I used to really enjoy thos app but the new layout is too focused. I'm not always looking for anything specific. This new layout doesn't foster browsing and day dreaming. I like it. There are lots of interesting ideas and images. I enjoy being able to save hs things that attract my attention.

Difficult to find your recent posts. When you click "recent activity" it shows nothing, even after you have just posted. When you do view your posts, they are backwards. Most importantly, there is no option to "EDIT" your posts. If you go on the actual website, it still brings you to the mobile version and during editing, your texts keep deleting as you type. I gotta say, this is the worst app for posting on a forum that I have ever used and it's been like this for a long time.

I signed up through the app less than an hour ago. Now I'm signed out, and it won't let me sign back in. Before I was signed out, I was unable to edit my profile. Several menu items were also broken. Touching triggers a very fast loading notice, then it disappeared and nothing happens. I am at home with a strong WiFi connection. I want to like this app, but right now I don't think I can even use it. Developers, please get some testers and UX people and pay attention to their feedback.

I really like this app, it is easy to use and looks professional. I do wish that my ideabook list could be organized alphabetically because I don't like how it organizes by the last one I viewed. I also don't like that every time I delete a photo it flashes and reloads the whole board and then I have to find my place again.

Extremely Annoying EACH and EVERY time I save a pic to a particular board, I receive and must circulate through a ridiculous process of (something to the effect of) save to board, share with a friend, allow houzz to access contacts, then, skip, then save. UGGH. Ive search through settings and cannot see a way to shut off this process EVERY TIME I save something. SO Annoying. There should be an on/off for this option!!

It was working so well, until I accidentally clicked save. I spent 2 HOURS working on a floor plan and it was a wonderful experience. But then it said saving design. I thought it would be easy to just continue working on it but unfortunately, it saves it how you have it cropped in the moment so all that hard work was thrown away. I decided to move to paper.

I discovered Houzz more than 10 years ago on my Fire and was mesmerized by the full-screen, beautiful images that inspired ideas for my own home... until they stopped supporting the app on that device. I had to install it on my phone from Google Play. Now I am forced to look at images of homes and literal landscapes in PORTAIT mode only, instead of in landscape mode. It feels awkward and unnatural. I am definitely missing the old version.

The AR capabilities are neat... but the constant requests to allow access to my contacts is obnoxious. Even when I select "don't ask again" and deny permissions on the android prompt, the app still asks me to go into my settings and enable access to contacts every time I want to save a picture. and then always takes me a "share" screen which I have to back out of. I don't want to send the pictures to anyone, and I certainly am not going to give a furniture app access to my contacts.

2020 Edit: the filters no longer work. I get completely random images and have a hard time using the fiilters with any success. I find the fewer filters the better but then I am scrolling through a huge list. Edit: filters work great! Thank you! I love this app. Previously; I like houzz a lot, but would love to be able to filter by realistic and dreaming...

UPDATED: while I still like this app, they took away the feature of looking at similar ideas. Not sure why, but now when you click a photo you like, it only shows that project. The similar projects or ideas was a great feature. I hope they bring it back!!! 2016: Love the ideas and articles... helps when I need to see how to finish a project and see a picture. Has kept me from making mistakes by letting me see what it looks like before I attempt things.
