OK. has many issues and glitches. Can't use the app offline, even if you download the book. about once per week I get signed out randomly. I was about 30 minutes from finishing an audiobook and the app chose to delete the download. It also doesn't connect properly when I use headphones and pause it. it won't re connect and play. I am thankful that this exists but user experience is lacking.

The app closes all the time, randomly. Most of the time it holds progress but not always. Every time I answer the phone I have to go back to the app to play the book again, it doesn't just auto play. Even if I pause the app through my headphones for only a minute I have to pull the app back up to select then play the audiobook again. Plus, the selection of books is very poor.

I do enjoy this app, I wish you could create tag lists. For example, a list you would like to read, have read, suggested by friends, fiction vs non-fiction, books to read later, etc. The favorite option doesn't let you create various lists. It would be helpful to see what you have listened to. For example if a book returns before you finish, and you pull it up at it will show you when you had last checked it out and start you at the point you left off, as Libby does. Overall an enjoyable app.

Honestly, a fantastic source for extra reading material. However, the amount of downloads dropping from 10 to 6 was hindrance, not a deal breaker but a reasonable annoyance. That's not the reason for lowering my review. It's the fact that when my book is paused or if I open the app, the audiobook loses my place. That's so frustrating. I thought it was my phone but I've talked to numerous people with Hoopla and they experience the same inconsistency.

This app has been amazing. Combined with Libby I rarely can't find the books I'm looking for. Being able to skip and rewind from a connected Bluetooth device would be nice though. And when playback is paused for a short time, the app goes into sleep mode and is no longer able to be controlled from a connected device. You have to open up the app to re wake it. Libby doesn't have these issues. But overall I have been very happy with this app.

Update: Ebooks work correctly now. I use this app daily for audio books and ebooks. I love it! I really like this app and would love to give it done stars, but there is one big problem with ebooks. Everytime I close and reopen an ebook, it opens about five pages too far forward. So I have to rewind and find my spot. Not sure why but it is pretty annoying. Other then that, good selection and well executed concept.

Has a good selection of books and I enjoy how the app functions however it constantly pauses my book though. Doesn't matter whether I leave the app up or in the background it pauses it randomly. Which is super annoying when I'm driving and can't unpause it. Dropped another star off as it's now randomly restarting my book from the beginning after it pauses itself. It's becoming super difficult to use and yes I have almost full signal when it happens.

It has been lovely so far! The videos are great, the ebooks are easy to find and check out. Automatic returns are wonderful! And if you checkout the same title of ebook that you may not have finished before it remembers where you were before! The search feature is nice also, where you can highlight an unknown word and search for it to learn more about it!

Has more books than libby, but has a infuriating problem that when you pause your book using the pause play button on your Bluetooth the app does not remember where you paused. When you resume play it takes you back to the last place you were in the book before locking your phone screen. Definitely the most frustrating thing about this app. If this is fixed I would give it five stars.

I really like this app. My only complaint is that trying to look through your reading history is really cumbersome. I like reading manga and comics on hoopla. Trying to remember what volume or issue I last read can be very hard, especially if it takes hoopla months to get the next volume in. Maybe there is some way that you guys can improve that? Also would be nice if hoopla had the regular book editions of some stuff. It's frustrating that some of the books are audiobook only...

Love it... it needs a few tweaks, tho. The app has a tendency to NOT be able to come back to where I was before I paused the audio book. I have to try to remember to frequently set bookmarks so it's a bit easier to find where I should be. Also, only 4 books per month? What's up with that? If these 2 items ever get corrected, I will change to 5 stars!

I love the app! Being a senior with mobility problems, this app is a real blessing. I love going to the library, but the app makes life so much easier, and more enjoyable. I do wish that you would increase the number of items you can borrow per month. I run out of reading or listening about 2 weeks before the month's end. And I return them immediately upon finishing a book or audiobook.

This is by far the worst audiobook app I have ever used, the player is terrible as it does not pause when you get notifications or updates from your navigation programs so then you have to go into the app to click back the 15-second rewind button which is not ideal when you're driving plus the app always closes if you have to click into something else. The selection of books is pretty good though but the app is just awful not sure why things won't just pause for updates

So I really love the app but lately it's been crashing it's been very frustrating. Lots of times I listen to hoopla in the car while I'm driving and when I have to like stop it and sometimes uninstall the app and reinstall it it really really gets annoying when I'm trying to drive. So if they could fix it from crashing that would be great.

Generally enjoyable app. Love the content, libraries are amazing- but hoopla is the app, not a library. Navigation is fine. Search filtering useful. Love the ease of linking a TV to your account. Android widget is pretty annoying- it's huge, only has a play button and back 30 seconds button and says "no borrowed audiobook titles" even when it is in fact playing a borrowed title. Sometimes this fixes itself, sometimes not.

Overall, I continue to use and mostly enjoy Hoopla. Recently, Hoopla made an update that has made it impossible to listen to a book while driving. The least interruption (phone notification) causes the book to continuously back up a few seconds at a time all the while emitting a tone as it backs up. It is a huge distraction to try to correct while driving and resume the book. Therefore, I can't listen to Hoopla while driving. I have asked for help and the programmers will not fix this problem.

Great selection of content, app could be faster. Doesn't allow me to restart playing a book after more than a few seconds pausing without launching into the app again and seeing the text for several seconds of "Brought to you by your local library". Very annoying to pause and have to relaunch every time. Doesn't run in the background properly.

I'm updating my review. I want to tell you that I love hoopla because you have such a wide selection of wonderful audio books. However, after a update you had, My hoopla decided to not work properly in my work room. We can turn it on , after we get in the room and if we for instance have to turn it off on our headset it will not automatically come back on. We have tried to reload the app, looked through our settings looked through your settings and we cannot figure this out. This is happening...

I think this may depend on the library, but it has a great selection of audiobooks, especially nonfiction, and the player works great. I cancelled my Audible subscription after moving to an area with a library that uses it. I don't read ebooks on it quite as often as my other library app since I can't get them on my e-reader and don't like reading on my phone/computer, but I have read some and it works pretty well. One of my most-used apps.

Review updated. Was 5 stars. I really love this app because it has more selection of the type of books that I enjoy reading/listening to. But for some reason recently when listening to audio books, it no longer shows to chapter your listening to. It only shows how far you are in the book. Sometimes I want to back track in the book but it is difficult to gage when looking for a particular chapter. This is very frustrating.
