More About Hard Time
Each day, you will find your health and mental state slipping away. Both can be restored by sleeping - which is also a good way to pass time. You won't always be permitted to sleep, though, so consuming food and drink bridges the gap. These, along with many other activities such as reading or watching TV, can also help to improve your mental state. If you "lose your mind" you will break down and will temporarily lose control of your character (almost certainly getting into trouble!).
Your character also has a set of attributes that you are challenged to improve:
- STRENGTH indicates how much damage you can inflict or absorb. You can improve it by fighting or lifting weights.
- AGILITY determines how fast you move. You can improve it by jogging in the yard or scoring baskets.
- INTELLECT reflects your knowledge - including fighting skills such as counters. You can improve it by reading books.
- REPUTATION is how much other prisoners respect you. It can be improved by accomplishing tasks or intimidating others.
There are also opportunities to earn money - whether you work for it with a broom, trade items at a profit, or run with a gang. Having money increases your opportunities to grease the wheels and make your life inside easier.
You may find that you need to go to the toilet from time to time, in which case you must race to the bathroom! Alternatively, you could find a toilet to sit on or grab some toilet paper to spare your blushes. Failing to do so will damage your reputation and mental state.
I regret that there is more to this game than I could ever explain here, so I hope you enjoy figuring some things out for yourself.

BASIC CONTROLS:
(*Look out for tutorials within the actual game)
The game uses buttons where letters like GTA represent what they do:
G = Grapple / Throw weapon
T = Taunt (interact with handheld props)
A = Attack (on its own to kick, with a direction to punch)
R = Run
P = Pick-Up / Drop
OTHER CONTROLS
- Press ATTACK and RUN together to launch a powerful attack.
- Press any button with any direction (or none) in a grapple to trigger different moves.
- Press RUN and PICK-UP together to set fire to a small object (which can then be used to set fire to a large object).
- Touch the clock to pause the game and bring up options to exit.
- Touch any speech bubble to speed through conversations.
PERFORMANCE
- If you find your device struggles to display lots of characters, considering keeping the "Population" option low.
- "Speed Up Frame Rate" sleeping will require good performance at the default frame rate.
- Head to the "Display" options to tone down other features.

I don't understand why we can't our characters for free anymore. There's no problem with the ads because I just put my phone on airplane mode but I feel it's best if there's an option to skip the long ones.This isn't a big problem but I feel it was best to tell you that I was given a black character named "Fight Figga" and I just feel best if you think twice about the names you give(just to be on the safe side)I always been a huge fan of your games and I hope you at least consider fixing few!Ty.

1. It's really annoying when wardens and other inmates hurt and even kill my character! 2. Back then, you can start your career and customize your character, his/her abilities for FREE. But now, you have to pay 3 USD to do that. 3. Unskippable ads are really upsetting for me and also annoying as well. Please remove the ads 4. Improve the graphics, it's already 2022! I will rate 5 stars if you fix the game.

The game is really good however it has its flaws. For example 1. Player losing control system is really not needed and it is very annoying when it does that 2. Not able to aim when shooting with a weapon 3. No gore like the other games needs to have a gore system where limbs can be destroyed 4. It has less map layouts needs something like bars stores and etc because when you finish you have nothing to do 5. As a warden you cannot arrest and go to court and lose pay 6. No paycheck as warden.

The game is fun, but I have trouble getting back up off the ground when in combat and getting out of locks is hard as well. Another problem I have is that when I create a new character, it's female and when I change the gender to male the female body is still there. And that bothers me. Overall I give it 4 stars because of the original concept and hilarious scenarios that can happen but those problems I just mentioned kept it away from 5 stars.

All of Mat Dickie's works are the definition of it's so bad that it's good, the controls are quicky but you can learn them with relative ease, I always loved the wresing and the amount of costumising you could do to characters in this game, it may be low poly and look terrible but under the rough surface there lies a hidden gem of a game. Truly you should too try it and see it for yourself. In addition you should buy the VIP packages to the games you're going to play since they add more features

To MDickie I wanna say that your game is amazing to play and i wanna suggest that please add the old version of the Hard Time 2D because its amazing and make sure it doesn't lag because i hate the game if it lags... Also please some free customizable Character that you can freely customize your character before starting the game for everyone just like Super City... Thats all i wanna suggest but i hope you want my suggestion :)

Completed the game, the controls were a bit wack but got used to. Encountered some glitches, like when I'm in a call (literal call) and enter another room and everything goes on the top left side of my phone. Rather than that, the other inmates and wardens have Bipolar disorder(hope you get what I mean when you play this game). I like the real life photo-graphics with the in-game graphics (hope I made sense). Also I found a way to cheat the game. But overall I enjoyed this.

(Been playing on and off since 2014) I must say, your games are some of the best. Great time-passers. My favorites are this and SuperCity. I wish there would be more updates or if more reviews could be responded to. Although I've learned to accept this, the AI characters can be a real pain at times with the fighting and the player not having multiple options. More realistic AI characters would be great, but then again, I'm playing either way. Keep up the good content!

The game is really good but the ads are frustrating which i deal with a lot and customizing your avatar wasn't always for money and was free back then but now you have to pay to win basically to access more stuff. I do like how the game is pretty interactive for a 2D game but some bugs need to be fixed like NPC interaction is weird sometimes they attack for no absolute reason with no explanation and NPCs ask if they wanna fight when I'm at low health and is not fair at all.

Nice simple prison simulator. I like how you have a cell and your uniform matches that block. The stats system is good and the missions make it interesting. The map is well designed and I especially love the basketball hoop. One thing I don't like is the toilet mechanic, I find it immersion breaking. One can imagine going to the toilet without a sudden 10 second timer popping up, otherwise the character has an accident. It was funny the first time but after a while it's annoying.

Dear Mat, This is not a Terrible game. However whenever an ad pops up( I wait for skip button to appear) I click that or tap rather and it returns to game mode and freezes in portrait position (the game screen itself) and i have to hard restart the phone by holding power key and then waiting for phone to load just so I can get back to the game . Please fix bugs. Thankyou!

It use to be better, where you could customize your inmate to some extent. Now they have changed it to you cant change anything at all without buying the upgrade, there is unskippable 30 second ads every time you go to sleep or load somewhere new, i decided to buy the upgrade but it doesn't even show up in game, even when i hit restore purchases

Sorry for the low rating, but things in this game could be improved significantly, like for instance, prior of purchasing V.I.P, you should be able make your own character, and more improvements could be a better A.I, more scenarios (it's a bit repetitive), escape routes other than the fence escape and the shovel escape, and make the prison more interactive, like after half n hour, there isn't alot of fun things to do unless your going to repeat what you did before. Overall, the game is alright.

Played 4 years ago, then picked it back up. I had so much fun with this long ago when I first downloaded it, now I'm kinda disappointed to see nothing has changed. you updated and added some new characters but the gameplay is the same crazy difficult until overpowered and boring. Making money is still easier in jail then out, you can't start conversation npc has to, and really can only get arrested for assault based crimes, add auto theft, "distribution" ect.

I used to love this games. The ads were around then but this new pay to edit thing is new. In the old hard time I could choose to be a female and it made me excited that females were getting included. Now we can't choose our characters so we must be what they put they as or keep resetting. This game and Pop scene have really upset me. I know 2.99 isn't a lot but it's still sad that I don't get to at least choose a gender. 😭 I've been playing since I was like 12. Wish we could fix this.

A pretty good game for the most part. I always have lots of fun getting my stats up, doing challenges and more. But once u get past those first 10-20 minutes of fun, it becomes a very tedious game. There isn't anything to do, no challenge and barely anything to keep you occupied. Even when u manage to escape or get released, there isn't anything to do. There isn't a point to being a warden because if you attack a prisoner, even if they have a weapon or something, You get arrested.

very good! Very minimalistic concept done to the T. It's a very engaging experience for the player, and the insanity it brings makes it truly a HARD TIME. The Wrestling Engine used on this game makes NPC's easily agitated and aggresive, causing the experience to take an interesting turn when you accidently kill someone and go insane and lose control of your character. Overall, a pleasant experience

I really like it, kills time and I don't feel bothered by gameplay or become bored of it. Simplistic and easy to get a hold on the ropes as there are some things in gameplay that I might not yet be seeing, which I've been discovering. If I could make a suggestion of things Id like to see in this game, they are conceptual and don't have to be the concrete idea, but I think it would provide some type of goal in the gameplay (not like a quest system or story completely overtaking the game.) 1. Our own ability to initiate a conversation! I know there are some very rare points where our own character initiates a conversation with other characters, but we don't have control over what they say. I also already am aware that we have two dialogue options when prompted which is more of a yes or no style, but I think it would improve user experience if you gave the player the ability to initiate their own conversations with the AI, in some way or another. 2. Jobs! Like when you get out of prison in the game and there's not much that you can really do, besides the usual, going around and fighting until you end up in prison again. We should have the ability to make our own money with other criminal ways and more ways to go back to prison than fighting. Maybe robbing or other things, which this idea can be hypothetically linked with the one above in different ways. 3. Our reputation doesn't just mean fear or represents our in game fighting power! Maybe it can represent how we stand in gangs, and the higher reputation the higher ranking you are. Basically, we can have the ability to, either based off of our in game reputation or by another constant, like gang respect or something similar, rank up in different factions and potentially become the leader. That's all I really have for some ideas that could possibly be innovative to the play structure of the game and make it more immersive of a simulation. While I know that it's just a simulator, and these things aren't truly accounted for because of that, it would make this game innovative towards other games of the same genre; make it truly stand out amongst other simulators and bring more people in. I've loved this game since I was probably 12 or so and I am now 20. They've updated it a few times throughout the years and although them taking away character customization from free players was pretty annoying I can still enjoy the game. However one thing they still haven't added that would be super cool is a game volume slider or toggle in the options menu not just a music volume option. I'd love to be able to listen to a podcast while playing or perhaps music but the game is just too loud.

Would be much better if the game didnt paralyze you mid-fight for involuntary hugs and trap you in a cutscene while fighting for your life every single time one of the NPCs has an opinion about something. It'd be alright if it paused everybody but the AI is still free to get up, run away, or actually snatch weapons out of the players hands. Can only play this in a good mood lol
