More About Grocy: Grocery Management

Grocy is a self-hosted groceries and household management solution for your home. Go to grocy.info for more information about the project.
Grocy for Android uses Grocy's official API to provide you a beautiful interface on your phone with powerful barcode scanning and intuitive batch processing, all what you need to efficiently manage your groceries.

This app requires a running self-hosted instance of the grocy server application. It is a companion app, therefore it cannot run standalone or manage products itself!
You can try and test all features using the demo option available on the login screen.

Features:
• Stock overview
• Shopping lists with offline support
• In-store shopping mode with big UI elements
• Fast barcode scanning
• App shortcuts
• OpenFoodFacts implementation
• Master data editing
• Dark mode

Furthermore:
• Open-source: github.com/patzly/grocy-android
• No ads or analytics
• Material Components
• Small app size (~30MB)

Contribution:
If you run into a bug or miss a feature, feel free to give feedback in the app, send us an email or open an issue on GitHub.
Like the grocy project, Grocy Android can be translated, too. Please go to our GitHub page for more information.

Compatibility:
Grocy Android requires at least grocy 3.1.3 on your server.
It is also possible to use the grocy Add-on on a Hass.io server. Our FAQ on GitHub explains how to do that.

This app supports https encryption if your server uses a certificate which is signed by a public and trusted certificate authority (CA). To meet this requirement, you can use a free certificate from letsencrypt.org for your server. Old Android devices can have problems with newer CAs because their internal list of trusted CAs can be outdated if they don't receive system updates anymore.
Grocy Android also supports encryption if your server uses a self-signed certificate. In this case the certificate must be stored in the Android user certificate store.

We'd like to thank the developer of Grocy, Bernd Bestel, without whose great work this app would never have been possible.

Please add ability to attach pictures to products. It seems to be supported by the server, but not this app. EDIT: I am not familiar with the API. I take it does not expose ability to upload pictures?

A terrible experience, not loading at all, just keeps loading and loading forever. And yes i should use Google play ranking for issues reports because people want to see accurate ratings not only the five stars ones, and that's why there's ranking and 1 to 5 stars so don't tell me to "do not".... you have such a great apps like Doodles, look for my review there, but this app is not working at all "with my device"!

Wow, okay... Met with server URL and API key entry fields. Then selecting "continue with demo" which responds with a server error version mismatch warning gobbledygook message. As a fellow developer, I apologize for the type of person who writes a piece of software like this.

Latest version of this app is v2.2.1, and it does not work with demo server v3.3.1, nor with HA add-on which I find tragi-comic. The app informs you that the versions needs to match, which is not possible as it seams the dwvelopement of the server and client app are not synchronized. As I have said I have tried and failed to connect to my Homeassistant Grocy add-on with valid API key. Btw. my HA add-on IS latest v3.3.1.

Seems to work well, unfortunately can't use it as the app doesn't seem to like ports other than port 80. Please allow us to change which port is used!

This connects to my locally-hosted Grocy instance in Docker. It has most of the functionality of the website, and seems to be more responsive as well! Thank you for making this free app; looking forward to updates! You both are excellent coders and I would like to donate (PayPal, GitHub Sponsor?)

Negativity will cook your goose. Word of advice , NEVER, respond to a user with a negative response. You're likely to get more negative or lose the user entirely. Be apologetic and kindly explain the technical issue and work to correct the situation. Ultimately play store will review it. Sometimes the user doesn't get the issue . That's OK, you'll help them to understand ,you'll be happy ,they'll be happy and other users won't see that negativity. - Professional Developer MPC

Useful but missing a few key features in the chore department: * Needs to allow changing who completed a chore when completing it to avoid everything being "done" by the service account that the communal tablet is logged into (The Chore Tracking web UI contains a "done by" drop-down that this app lacks.) * Also missing is chore notifications - even when housemates are on board with grocy, nobody realizes they have assigned chores without notifications

Intuitive to setup and works like a charm. Great helper when dealing with barcodes and Grocy inventory. Offline shopping list support!!! Under active development so new features (and occasional bugs and their fixes) come regularly.

Brilliant and useful companion app! Would it be possible to add 'transfer' functionality? It would be so useful to be able to scan something as it's moved from the pantry to the fridge without having to use the web interface.

The app works great! It was very easy to set-up. I got the app so I can use the barcode scanner since I coudn't get that feature to work when I was using the homeassistant app. The app makes it so much easier. I hope they keep adding new features.

Normally don't write reviews but I love the app but wished the shopping list would show columns like the server does. More over, when I add a custom field, it to would carry over. On the server I added an Isle column so I would know which Isle an item is in instead of searching for it each time I go.

I usually don't write reviews much but after seeing two bad reviews for this excellent (and mind you FREE) app for an excellent (and also FREE), I couldn't help it. Thanks so much for giving me the perfect solution to multiple problems I had in my household! Keep up the great work and please don't be discouraged by bad reviews. As a developer myself, I know how frustrating it can be. So again, thank you!

Works great with the home assistant add-on of grocy. I like the shopping mode, the items are easy to cross of and sync fast when shopping together. I would love to see some features added: - recipes - automatically add items from the shopping mode as purchased items - fast scan mode for purchasing (like for consuming) Thanks for developing a good grocy app.

I have tried many shopping list / pantry management applications in the past few months, and Grocy combined with this application turned out to be the most convenient solution. The shopping mode is awesome, and the barcode scanner - which, for some reason, I thought I would never use - also works really well. And to top it all, this is all open source. I love it. Thank you for creating and maintaining this application!

Overall the app works great, with some features missing but listed as coming. I was surprised by the scanning feature picked up some foods automatically. One thing that I noticed was, when using a Nabu Casa url to log in it looses the images of the recipes, which makes it harder to sell the idea of using the app to my girlfriend.

Very nice interface! A handy way to scan items into the server instance. It updates almost instantly. The only feature I could think of to request would be an offline shopping mode. I created a shopping list on the server and it populated to my Android, but when I leave my local network, the app indicates "Offline". It would be very handy to be able to work from the list and enter items as "Done" or, better yet, "Purchased" so the price could be entered at the store. Then, when back on my network and connected to the server, the current price would be included in the upload.

Great app overall the only improvement I can think of is the ability to set a custom URL for the server instance so I can use a redirect service to access it remotely. Edit:it doesn't let me edit the server URL field, long pressing does nothing and tapping it tries to open it in a browser. Edit2: your "brother" blew me off and said that I should inquire here
