Grimvalor is probably the best in this genre, but it isn't without flaws. The environments are thoughtful, well crafted, and look incredible. They are a bit too redundant in appearance. Act 1 doesn't look much different to act 2, 3, or 4. The challenge presented by the developers, is near perfect, in my opinion with my only gripe being the inconsistency of dodging and dashing. In comparable situations, you may dodge in one instance, but dash in another making some deaths feel undeserved.

Not a lot to the story, but man is combat fun and challenging. Especially when you get to playing the new game+ mode. The enemies and bosses become way more challenging than before. The hidden pathways are also a fun bonus, but they are easy to find. I hope when this gets a sequel, they make them a bit more difficult to aquire. Highly recommended overall, whether you have play pass or you pay for it. Well worth it!

Wow, above and beyond expectations! The controls, terrain, and play flow are clearly well thought out. Just the right amount of development in both story and character, and the bosses are plentiful and challenging. Also, the mood and feel are intriguing and dark. And to be able to bring it all to the players for a set price is incredible. Bravo!

For $7 for the full game, it's fantastic. Platforming isn't frustrating, controls well, and combat has a lot more depth than expected, and for playing in NG+, you will need to learn to abuse I-frames to beat some bosses. It's sort of like Dark Souls, in that it isn't easy, but it isn't unfair. I actually wish there were more NG+'s, as I really enjoyed NG+'s higher difficulty and changing map layouts, giving a more Metroidvania feeling and newer experience than just running the same thing again.

Control and graphics, audio are amazing!I think this is the best platform game on Android so far!! I haven't found another as Good and easy to play. Haven't seen any game stutter or any other problems! Great game-I bought it within seconds after trying it! I recommend it!!! I'm having a problem making the toon jump to high places and mid-air jumps. I there a fix it or a tutorial for the controls?

Very fun! One of the better, more polished metroidvania games I've seen recently. The animations are smooth, attacks feel weighty and satisfying, enemies are decently varied and the upgrade/leveling system is well-thought out. Mobility plays a key role in this game, with dashes and dodges and such. And its done well, to boot. Def. reccomend to anyone looking to play a solid metroidvania with a little spicy challenge.

A gaming experience that kept me engaged from beginning to end. At times, the difficulty of some of the parts, especially when trying to 100%, was downright frustruating. But at the end of the day it made completion even more sweet. The graphics were amazing and the controls were seamless. I highly recommend for anyone looking for a great beat em up style game that requires some very creative puzzles. Try it for yourself!

The sheer quality and presentation is ASTOUNDING! I've not finished the "free" act yet but I am already impressed! The controls are simple enough to learn as well as the gameplay. It can be challenging but is definitely rewarding. This game focuses on combat more than platforming or puzzles. Not sure if the level up points you can attribute to one of four different stats are supposed to cost one point per, but feel as though the cost should Increase.

Fantastic game! Excellent tutorial, & runs like a dream, with gorgeous graphics & sound fx/backgrd music. Good story & exciting intuitive game play. Love how 1st act is free, instead of entire game being "free", but full of Ads & high priced in App purchases. The only thing I don't like is Customize Controls is grayed out, & doesn't work on my Galaxy S10+. & I'd like to switch places of the Jump Button with the Dodge/Dash button.

So far, I'm only a few floors into the game, and the mechanics and combat is as familiar as it is refreshing. The game will remind you of others you've played; maybe in story, maybe in combat, maybe through the other, more miniscule mechanics. But overall, it's a unique experience contained inside of a mobile game, that with the premium pass is free, which makes it even better. Edit: Just finished. If you grind to get it all, it'll be an overall satisfactory and tough, but completely doable.

Just finished the free trial and I plan on buying the whole game. The free trial gives you about 2-6 hours of gameplay (depending on skill level) that you can repeat infinity. Story and graphics are amazing. Movement controls are great, but I won't call them perfect. Every (non-boss) enemy can punish mistakes, yet most aren't so tough with the right strategy. Bosses are very hard, yet you can tell they're beatable. Even if you don't want to buy the whole game, you should play the free trial.

It controls very well for a touchscreen action game and the combat is solid and feels good. Graphics are good. It feels polished enough that it seems like it would have been a PSP game years ago. Phone games are mostly shovelware or ports, this is a well made mobile game. Main problem for me is running back to pick up drops from killed enemies. It'd be better if they absorbed into you like a magnet instead of having to go walk onto it to grab it. Slows your momentum to go back and get the drops.

Pretty neat side scrolling action platformer. You fight hoards of zombie like demons and level up w light RPG elements as you take on a story that so far is extremely vague. Not at all challenging (so far, only just past the opening of the travel portals) so makes for a decent time killer when you want to just hack and slash at things old school SNES style. It does seem to get a lot of "inspiration" from Dark Souls aesthetically but is not at all that type of game. Try it, it's fun.

Overall an amazing game. The combat and platforming is very entertaining with enough difficulty to keep you focused. My only qualm is sometimes when you dodge through attacks you'll do a regular dodge instead of the one that makes you invincible for a bit. It can get frustrating when it happens a couple times in a row.

Awesome game one of the best I've played in awhile,,I beat it on regular mode and now I'm playing NG+ mode and it's a real challenge the odds are really stacked against you and you have to go straight for the kill on each level no hesitation they send everything on the board at you ,,it's really challenging and fun even if you're not winning love it

I actually really like this game. At first it takes a little grinding to get some good attack powerful after that it's pretty chill. The dashing doesn't get depleted so that's pretty cool, because it leta you dodge as much as possible. It's not just as simple as just slashing away but not too complicated that you can't keep up considering you only have to fingers to work with since it's a handheld game. The game itself looks really good. Very clear imagery. Feels like megaman zero.lol. but dark

10/10 A lengthy free trial because they know their game speaks for itself. And only 5 sec non clickbait ads to boot during demo only. I 100% NG and NG+ in just 4 days because of how excellent everything is put together. It's beautiful, has simplistic controls with great diversity for inputs, great rhythm of combat and the increase of difficulty as you progress is well thought out. The optimized load times and general play are highly polished. This is the gold standard. Edit: Lvl 1 run complete.

This game is very fun. The combat is top-notch for a mobile game. If you're a fan of metroid-vania games then you'll love it. NG+ is for sadists though. There's a difference between challenging and straight BS (NG+ is more the latter). All in all, this game is awesome and I loved it; I just can't recommend NG+ unless you're the type of person that needs to be challenged beyond all belief. One bossfight started with 3, turned to 9, then the real boss showed up and spawned more ads...I give up lol

Grimvalor is an amazing game with huge potential. It's controller compatible and is easy to pick up and play. There is just one big issue for me. the biggest issue, in my opinion, for this game is the lack of new content. Sure it's fun the first few times you beat new game+ but, it's always the exact same levels and dungeons (with progressively more difficult enemies). Due to this, at least in my opinion, the game gets stale. If a new update comes out with new content I would raise my rating.

Awesome metroidvania! Great controls, tough as nails (first boss took me a few tries but i was getting better each time), and a nice run mechanic to get you around faster. A prime example of a game made by a team that knew what they were doing. Runs great on my Retroid Flip and the controls were mapped automatically. I'd put this game up with any of the classics. Get it, must play!
