Almost always works as advertised and intended. That being said, why doesn't this app have search history like every other app on the planet? If I want to search for a book that I had previously looked up a couple days before, I have to type it all out again. I mean, it's not like it's PHYSICALLY difficult or anything, but come on...there's a reason everyone else has the feature. :| Thank you for all the hard work and (relatively) timely updates.

I enjoy being able to see people's reviews and search books, but it's impossible to search for friends. When I go to the tab to search for friends it only wants to look through my email contacts. I can't actually type in their name and search unless I'm on the desktop version. You would think this basic of a function wouldn't be an issue but it's a major one. Can never find anyone on here unless they share it directly with me.

Well this last glitch seems to be fixed, but nothing has changed really with this app. I have been using StoryGraph which has a lot it could teach Goodreads. Actual ways to find books related to what you want to read, finding books by moods, a better lay out. Tags make books easier to find. The only thing Goodreads has that StoryGraph doesn't yet is the lists. A dark mode that actually works would be great too.

I love this app to look up reviews and to keep track of what I've read. But it is not accurate. It literally has 3 books listed that I've finished for 2024, but my goal for the year says I've read 1. I've tried everything to get it corrected with no luck. My total for last year was 15 books short. I counted manually to get my correct count.

As an ARC reader, it is necessary to be able to quickly copy and share review url's with others. This is a function that I have had no issues with while being an iPhone user. Upon switching to an android phone I can no longer complete this basic function on the go with the app installed, as attempting to sign in on my browser just opens the app. Really disappointed in the lack of functionality and unnecessarily difficult UI for the android market.

I really like how you can follow your friends and see what they're reading. It's also really nice to keep track of all the books you've read plus dates when started/finished. But for some reason on Android my status updates only post 50% of the time. When I go back to my profile after updating my spot in a book, most of the time it won't even show up on my profile but the app has saved my progress anyway. It's hard to tell if it's just on my end. I don't want to double post and clog others feed.

I shouldn't have to jump back and forth between the app and the web version because the app is missing key functions (like viewing editions). This is literally an unfinished app, which is mind boggling when you think of how many people use it, and how extremely wealthy the owning company is. It would cost Amazon pennies to make this app great and enjoyable for the users.

I use this app everyday and it does wonders in helping me to discover and log books for my shelves. I've noticed, though, that there are so many aspects missing from the web, such as being able to look up book editions and reply to comments. Makes it a little harder to maintain communication with other members. Wish that was made easier for Android users. And now, the cover scanner doesn't work. Loved that thing. It was insanely useful. A good app, but it can be better.

As others note, this app is full of bugs. Most notable to me is setting one's birthday. Tapping the left arrow for minutes on end to arrive at the correct year is absolutely ludicrous. Surely, in the big wide world of app developers' tool kits, there is a plug in that allows easy entry of month-day-year. So many sites include such an easy to use function. Please get your act together.

BOOKS STILL WON'T SCAN, DESPITE GOODREADS SAYING THEY "FIXED" THE PROBLEMS RELATED TO IT. 👎Scanning books rarely works for me, and half of the time when it does, it thinks it is a completely different, unrelated book. Entering ISBNs never works for me unless it is a very popular book or the occasional random stroke of luck. My wife can search other editions easily on iPhone, Android it is either non-existent or buried.

I love the basis of this app. Social media for books, how lovely! Sadly, the app kinda blows. When I try searching for new books by genre, I click on a book to read the description and when I hit the back button it sends me back to the beginning of the search and have to research every time. So I don't use it to find new books that way anymore. It's not the most user friendly. There's SO much potential here, and based on the number of people who use the app, you'd think it'd be running at 100%.

It constantly logs me out. Also it's extremely rare to win a book. Even if you enter damn near every giveaway. I also wish they'd add a feature to see the giveaway you entered easier. It's difficult to go through 60 pages to find the giveaway that just ended. The scanning feature is awful. It's the worst one I've ever seen.

For such a widely-used app, I cannot understand why such little attention has been put towards improving user experience. It's ROUGH -- hard to navigate, unreliable/buggy, and could be made really simple and elegant for the types of interactions you take on the app, but instead is dated/unintuitive. It sucks since this is definitely the most popular so nearly everyone uses it, but I'll be exploring a new option this year since other growing apps are definitely focusing on experience.

It's good for tracking my books, but not much else... everything else has to be done on the website. Just poor design, not user friendly. Plus, the giveaways are getting ridiculous. 1 copy for over 4,000 entries? There needs to be a minimum amount of copies (maybe 50 for physical) given away because the odds just keep getting worse and worse and it's really disheartening, especially if people are taking the time to enter these every day.

I've been using tgis app for years and have really enjoyed it but for some reason it stopped counting the books I'm reading toward my challenge goal. I've read 12 books but it has only counted 2 towards my goal. Also, it's very hard to navigate and often freezes when I try to scan a barcode.

This either needed to be kept as a website or the developers needed to be able to actually emulate their app based on the web coding. So many features are missing, the app is insanely buggy, and it's interface feels old. It isn't smooth and streamlined. The only reason I use this app is because NO ONE LIKES CHANGE. There are so many better apps out there that will allow you to take your goodreads data and transfer it so you don't lose your past information. So goodreads doesn't even try anymore.

This app is extremely janky and poorly optimized. I've had tons of crashes and errors. It also leaves a lot to be desired in terms of available features. There are a lot of things that can only be done on the actual website, for example changing your edtion of a book. More than anything, though, it's the crashes that are driving me crazy. Makes it hard to get anything done.

Coming back to this app after a couple years, it has seriously gone downhill. It was never so atrociously slow. Things take ages to load and sometimes never do. I posted a progress update for a book and I honestly couldn't tell if it posted. It was very hard to find in my profile. Especially since everything I tap takes a whole minute or more to load. There aren't a lot of apps that make me want to pull my hair out like this one

A little weird when it comes to the books you are currently reading. I have one now that isn't showing up so it says I have 0 books that I am reading and have to search for the book. When I click on it it says that I am already reading it but doesn't show and doesn't allow me to update pages. This only happens every once and a while. But overall I love goodreads!

Goodreads is a must-have for book lovers! It helps track what you've read, what you're reading, and what you want to read. The personalized recommendations and community reviews are spot-on. Joining book clubs and participating in reading challenges keeps things exciting. The app is user-friendly and perfect for discovering new favorites. Highly recommend for anyone passionate about reading!
