It's very hard to play with these controls and I found myself constantly falling off the map trying to work the poor analog stick. It's not unplayable like ESWAT, but it sure doesn't help that the controls on a phone game are awful for a phone.

The game is still as good as when it first came out. However, on a phone, the controls don't work out. Especially since there was a soecial move you could do by pressing two buttons at the same time. Movement was better on the console as well. The save feature is a bonus.

awesome to relive this game on my phone, but still many bugs. it's almost impossible to do the rolling attack (pushing a and b at the same time). this version cant easily handle these simultaneous button presses for some reason. also, when is golden axe 2 coming out?

Not going to give an emulation 5 stars because of it's good original game. Instead of filling up the side bars with ads it decides to cover your health bar so you never know when you're at death's door step, this is just irritating to say the least. Other than that, fairly decent emulation.

You just TOTALLY destroyed these (prior) fantastic games... Perhaps add MORE adverbs? Or you think these pieces of #$$#* are big enough? Deinstalled BEFORE I choose to player, because ACCIDENTALLY clicked twice time "x" button after 30 secunds adverb, so...the game has been running demo, and one option was to see another 30 s. adverb. This is good example how to NOT MADE a game.

Awesome game! However, I have noticed more adds. They come in the middle of gameplay, sometimes one after the other. It became real annoying real fast. I usually lose connection after the adds as well. If it weren't for this, I would give the app 5 stars! But as it is...

The controls are not phone friendly The instructions as to which actions are controlled by what movement are also not user friendly. I played this game at the arcade and, while I know that a phone cannot replace a full arcade machine, the experience was very disappointing.

Saving function doesn't work, every time you wanna save it you have to watch an ad but the ads dont work so it won't save. The controls are exactly like the original which is good, except its touch screen so you have no idea if your pressing it, making the game much harder.

Gday. Great game. However, for the special move where you push buttons A and B together, it's very hard to do on a mobile phone or tablet. You need to create another separate button to do the special move using just one button as its impossible to do as I said before.. If you fix this, game would be perfect..

This retro beat-'em-up has been available in the Play Store for awhile now - but has now been turned into Golden Axe Classics; this is notable because it now includes all 3 original titles in the series, including (of course) Golden Axe 3. I downloaded this immediately - specifically because it also includes this third, rare title... Golden Axe 3 has a unique, pastel-like look to it, and a greatly improved move set and more balanced gameplay compared to the previous two titles. 5 stars! 👍😃

Ads are intrusive. I would just pay to disable them but there are other problems as well. The game sees my 8bitdo bluetooth controller but not all the buttons, nor the d pad or analog sticks. I couldn't move or map the start button to the physical start l button. If these issues get resolved I would consider buying but not in it's current state.

It's a classic a great one at that, remember the good old days where I'd be around 5 years old playing this on the megadrive, you've done a great job of bringing it back. Although I will admit the controls are terrible especially for people with bigger hands, if you could rescale them manually I wouldn't have a problem at all.

It was awesome just hearing that little tune lol.. I remember that game Soo well. Controls are horrible I couldn't get past the first 4. If you can manage it B and C at the same time does the spinning attack for the swordsmen. Too bad, I was Soo excited. Unplayable. 2 stars and only because the song took me back and made me smile. I needed it. Thanks

This app is quite comparable to other versions of these games, and the ability to save and rewind is an added plus. The on-screen buttons aren't perfect and the on-screen D-pad is hard to work with, but my 8bitdo Bluetooth controller works well. (I just can't use special attacks with it.)

After purchasing ad free, uninstalling, and reinstalling after a while, there is no way of restoring purchases. all of the remove ad buttons don't work. The games say ad free, but none of the ad free features work. When I start the game, I get an ad, when I try to save, it tells me I need to watch an ad. Loved the game trilogy, disappointed with the app.

Golden Axe is awesome because it's an imaginative action video game series, with key fantasy elements inspired by the role playing tabletop games that were rising in popularity at that time at it's core, but it's also a side scrolling action arcade style beat em up (like streets of rage), it's co-op, up to a total of 3 players, your characters each have their own unique magic abilities and special attacks / combos, there's real actual choices (which path to take), that you have answer to make it to your destination. I could blab on and on about it's great qualities, but I'm sure that most people won't read this. Either way, thanks, it was nice to play this game again.

Controls are terrible! They make the game not fun for me and I love golden axe 1 & 2 on Sega Genesis. This mobile version should not have replicated the original controls, instead make them better. You need to be able to move around freely. I could only play half as well on this version. I fall off cliffs, can't jump kick and hard to get the potion guys. I could not beat the first game after two tries. This game stresses me out. I am going to delete it without playing the other ones. Fix & lmk.

Seriously, fix the controls. I played for maybe 5 minutes then gave up on it. The original arcade game was definitely hard but this emulation makes it nearly impossible to do anything. You try to dash attack, you get smacked down. You try to get close to do a normal attack, you get smacked down. You try to do a jump attack, you get smacked down. Chasing the gnomes to get potions? Good luck.

Golden Axe was one of my favorite arcade games of all time. This (adapted to Android from the Genesis port) *could* be a great game and nostalgia fix, except that the "joypad" control is almost impossible to use accurately. The player character moves so slowly across the screen in response to the controls that it's an exercise in frustration to do much of anything except basic attack moves. The bonus scene sprites are too fast to ever catch, and the mounts are virtually unusable.
