Via a web-based map for a predetermined period with anyone you choose who does not have the Glympse app
Within the Glympse app for a predetermined period for those who, like you, have the Glympse app downloaded.
Sharing your location with someone is referred to as "sending a Glympse." A Glympse goes out as a link via text message. When recipients click on the Glympse link they can view your location on a map in real-time using any web-enabled device for as long as you choose to share with them.
Send a Glympse to let friends know you are on your way to meet them. Request a Glympse from a colleague who is running late to a meeting. Set up a Glympse Tag with your biking club. Create a Glympse Premium Tag for an upcoming local Santa parade. Those you share with can view your Glympse from any web-enabled device, no sign-up or app required.

Glympse Private Groups
Glympse Private Groups is a feature in Glympse that creates a private, invite-only Group. You give members control over who can be a member. All members of a Group can share their location and request the location of other members – all visible only to those in the Group. Private Groups are ideal for sharing with family, carpools, sporting teams, groups of friends and more.
Glympse Tags
Glympse Tags is a feature in Glympse that allows you to quickly view and share location with multiple friends on a single, shared Glympse map. Glympse Tags are public spaces (similar to Twitter/X hash tags) where anyone who knows the Tag name can view the tag map and add themselves to that map. When you view a tag map, what you are seeing is a map of people who have chosen to join the tag map (example: !SmithFamilyReunion or !SeattleCyclingClub).
Glympse Premium Tags
Glympse Premium Tags is our premium offering in Glympse that provides customization options to personalize and brand the Glympse experience. You can create a one-of-a-kind experience by uploading your logo and branding, map out certain routes you plan to make stops at, as well as other branding elements. Glympse Premium Tags is ideal for events such as community parades, Santa parades, food trucks, marathons, and so much more.
The browser map viewer for non-app users may not be entirely accurate in regions such as Japan, China, and South Korea. Various factors, including mapping data limitations and regional restrictions, may result in imprecise displayed information in these areas.

Excellent app, no complaints thus far....! You can't text through the app, but you can share your location with more than one person at a time, which some people might consider a creation of a friends group, in a sense... Also, the different views- street/satellite/terrain and traffic overlay- make for a really awesome feature... I'm not sure if there are any similar apps like this one available, but if there are then they need to offer at least these many features as this app does...

I used to love the app. However, around when I got the Flip 3 5g, it stopped working correctly. When I try to login, after I enter verification code, nothing happens. Just endless spinning circle. Also, the widgets don't work anymore. Will change review when it works again, if I can wait that long. This has been a problem for a hot minute.

App works fine, but the widget stopped working recently. No matter what tile I tap on nothing happens (Send / History / Favorites). It literally does nothing. I think it was around the time my Samsung Galaxy S10 had an update, so not sure if that has something to do with it? Hopefully, I'm not the only one, and the developer is able to fix with an update.

Superior app. Does what it says. I've used it for years and most of my friends do when traveling. Especially those at my destination who want to keep track of my progress. The module that's supposed to report who is watching and how recently quit working some months ago. If I could rejuvenate this feature I'd rate it 5 plus stars. Tested on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9 wiith same results.

It stopped working on my old phone. I tried to uninstall and reinstall several times without success so I stopped using it. Then I got a new phone and same thing. My friend sends me a link and most of the time it doesn't open, I get a "glimpse has stopped working, send feedback" message or if it does open, it takes me to my location and stops. I tried sharing my location back and it just keeps thinking. I have tried this with various connections in various states. I give up

1 * is overrated, considering the constant crashing and horrible stability. It crashes 99% of the time that I connect it to or disconnect it from my escape with sync and Android auto. It also likes to randomly crash nowhere near my vehicle. Point being, my certainty of it working is always slim, and I am sick and tired of submitting feedback for crashes. Samsung Note 9.

Holds it's own with Google Maps- and then some! Thats rare that I find anything close to G-Maps, but this does that and actually leads everybody else in making your location easily accessible through a map screen right in the text window (I am using a Verizon specific texting app, so not sure if everyone else will be as compatible, just to be sure). I like the way it lets you instantly allow someone you are trying to meet up with know exactly where you are and where you are headed in real time.

Downgrading from 5 stars. I don't like that I have to go into SMS to send the text. Bring back the automatic send. Also, when viewing a Glympse, the information does not update. The position on the map "freezes" for hours. I have asked people to cancel Glympse's and resend but same result. I think I'll have to see how sharing on Google maps works....

Until several days ago I had nothing bad to say about this software, but a few days ago, after a system update, the app simply stopped working and has not worked since. Have rebooted phone. Have uninstalled and reinstalled. Have verified the app has access to all the permissions it indicates are necessary. Nothing helps. It's dead, Jim.

Great way to keep someone informed of your progress. Very useful in my business of tuning pianos. Customers will usually let me know if I missed a turn LOL I'm back to lower my rating because Glympse added a "Waiting for connection" to SmartDevice notification with no way to turn it off. VERY annoying! No, touching and holding doesn't work. Bad app, no biscuit.

Update 7/11/19: stops updating location if the person looking at someone's location has the slightest weak signal ~Only a couple of problems~ I especially like that it shows the speed of the vehicle your watching. There's a problem I don't like tho, you can never close the app only minimize it , or else you have to ask for another request to follow again or go back and hunt down the link they sent previously. (Unless you happen to delete the text!)

07/01/2019: Recently went on a 3k+ mile road trip & used Glympse to keep the home folks informed of my whereabouts & progress. This is a great app for this purpose! I did forget that each recipient needs a to be sent a separate invitation in order to be able to follow me. Great app! 😊 09/22/2017: I haven't used it for myself yet, but I have tracked friends & family. It really helps to know if someone is close to arriving at their destination or if there is a potential problem. Love it!

Tried to start using this again, but doesn't work. Like others, it just hangs at the confirmation code. Then, I hit continue as guest and it lets me in the app. Once I get in, I can't connect any apps (like Facebook). Haven't tried sharing location via SMS because I won't be using the app. I sure hope an update comes soon. Seems like the last "update" in March broke everything.

2019 update! I still love this app, but I'm disappointed that no upgrades have been done. For instance... How about the option to click on a location someone has shared with you, to be given the option to navigate to it? ****************************** My family uses this app almost daily to check in, stay in contact while traveling, or keeping up with roaming teenagers. Such an applicable use of GPS to streamline lives.

Updated: They cant leave a good thing alone. No longer sends SMS to receiver, have to send text manually. Settings set for silent yet the thing chimes. App disappears after sending invite... No clear way to correct this in settings. Used to be easy to use, now these important settings are either hidden, locked down or missing Old review: Handy. Easy to use.

Awesome! I've used this for many years now. I even can share my location before getting on the plane, and then put my phone in airplane mode, and it will show the speed of my plane and where I am located over the satellite map! Flawless from my experience. Satelite view, map view, or even topographical view so my friends can see the mountains all around me!

App is useful, but needs a lot of permissions to work. I go back in to settings after each use and turn off permissions, for privacy reasons. After I save a favorite, it continues to ask if I want to save as favorite, which is confusing. Also, if I extend the time to share, it usually automatically reverts back to limited amount of sharing time. Can be confusing if you modify the destination or try to add a recipient after starting the route. With some refinements, it could better.

It's certainly a useful app. More often than not it's very glitchy. sometimes the speed says I'm going 70 when I'm definitely only going about 45. I've noticed some times that the blue line that follows behind you does not always accurately reflect on the map. I've also noticed that it seems a little bit hard to actually get the group settings to work but that could just be me and my phone and not the app.

Must have been an update recently. Nothing works as it did before the change. It was easy to see all a person's info along the bottom of the map; the icon for the person was small and didn't cover things up; and it was easy to move between people on different maps. Now, you have to tap on several different things in order to see a person's info, and it covers the map up. The icon is large covering up a lot, and it's not intuitive as to how to move between maps. Please change it back!!

I have used the app for several years. The lastest update has created all kinds of glitches. For instance, I picked up someone at the airport 75 minutes from my house, the app showed me parked waiting. However, it never moved until after I returned home. The new contemporary look creates more steps than before and isn't user friendly at all. Definitely a lag on updating location. Looking at different options now
