GCam Tool

More About GCam Tool

GCam Tool automatically moves photos taken with Google Camera to any folder you want, even memory card. It can prevent flipping of selfies so that the front camera photo is saved just like how you see it in the preview.
It also automatically moves portrait photos taken with Google Camera, to the correct gallery location. Here's how it works:

When you take a portrait photo (with DSLR like blurred background) with Google Camera, it takes the photo in burst mode - one regular photo and one blurred photo. These photos are saved in a new folder (created every time you take a photo) inside your photo gallery.

GCam Tool simply moves the photos you want (regular, portrait or both) to the location you choose and deletes the rest.

✔ Prevent flipping of front camera photos
✔ Choose which photos you want to move
✔ Select custom source and destination folders
✔ Batch move multiple files
✔ Rotate selfies further for Xiaomi phones
✔ Option to delete the sub folder created by Google Camera

Frequently Asked Questions

Prevent front camera flipping is not working
After you take a front camera photo, please check it in a third party gallery app like QuickPic or Piktures. The gallery in Google Camera is sometimes slow to refresh the flipped image. But in reality the image must be flipped correctly.

Why is GCam Tool getting stopped/paused by itself?
Some phones aggressively kill apps in the background in order to save some battery. Please visit www.dontkillmyapp.com to learn how to make sure GCam Tool doesn't get killed by the system.

Photos are not moved even though the options are enabled
This could again be a case of the gallery in Google Camera app not refreshing photos correctly. After you take a selfie, please check it in a third party File manager (Solid Explorer, ES File Explorer) or gallery (QuickPic, Piktures). They must be moved.

Ok I checked with third party gallery and can confirm it is still not moving
Some modded Google Camera apps save portrait photos in DCIM/Camera itself instead of creating a subfolder inside DCIM/Camera. Open Google Camera, find Settings -> Advanced -> Save all portrait mode pictures to same folder and disable it.

I need to save only portrait photo (background blurred bokeh). What setting should I choose?
In Settings, under "Portrait Photos", please enable "Move portrait photos to target folder" while disabling "Move normal photos to target folder". Now only the background blurred photo will moved to target folder while the normal one will be deleted.

What's the deal with Motion Photos?
It is a proprietary format developed by Google where a video is embedded inside a photo. There shouldn't be any issues with moving motion photos to target folder but if you enable "prevent flipping of motion photos", such motion photos will be converted to regular JPEG files and will, as a result, lose the embedded video.

What's the difference between Auto and Manual mode configuration?
To prevent selfie from flipping, GCam Tool attempts to identify from which camera a photo came from. To do that it accesses the camera module and reads parameters of front and back cameras. But certain phones do not provide this data correctly. In such cases, GCam Tool will instead read the parameters from photos which you select in Manual mode.

This app worked great with the Pixel 3! I recently upgraded to the 5 and the subfolder clean up seems to have broken. I'm holding out hope that once the phone has been out for a bit, this will change!

EDIT: Developer got in contact with me and sent me a .apk that fixed the issue. thank you! While the Pro version does move the files onto my desired path, it does not seem to fully delete the originals.

I mean it works, ish, but its buggy, I cant view images from inside the camera app 50% of the time, sometimes they flip, sometimes not, it leaves behind flipped images aswell. (Yes I purchased Pro)

I'm mad..2 euros is nothing but thats what you get for paying..nothing. photos dont flip no matter the settigs. Update, i searched the web for answers. Turns out everyone is having trouble with the flip setting. I strongly urge you not to buy the pro version!!!

Works some of the time. Note that you will need to avoid "clearing" all your apps or at least remember to restart gcam tool afterwards. Otherwise it's pretty hit and miss and it rarely cleans up the folders leftover from portrait mode in the pro version.

Bought it to prevent stock app on pixel 3 from mirroring pictures back to normal but it doesn't work and I'm tired of fighting the settings. It's such a simple thing to take a picture, flip it horizontally and save it.

I give it 5 stars because it works fine but sometimes prevent flipping does not work especially on portrait mode and sometimes my captured photos were deleted even though I don't delete it. But anyways I hope by the update it will be fix. Nice job to the developers.

Works ok for portrait mode but if you have the delete folder option enabled, it deletes all your burst photos before you get a chance to pick one. Needs updating to handle the various camera modes besides portrait. Otherwise it could be pretty useful.

Only lets me choose the downloads folder as the target folder, doesn't seem to do what I hoped the paid version would, unfortunately. No portrait photos being moved, I just seem to lose them from folders entirely. Seems to work for others so might be just a glitch for me, but feels like wasted money :(

Working well so far! but I'd really appreciate one extra option (even if it was only in the paid version). I'd love to be able to set it to automatically "Start" monitoring when the app is launched. I want to integrate this with a Tasker profile but right now it doesn't work as I have to manually press the button.

Great app for what it does. One suggestion, I would like to have option for a 15 to 30 second delay between taking the picture and the move or flip operation happening. This helps to review the pictures just after one takes them and delete them if not needed.

The app is not doing as intended, I've even paid for the full version with still no luck or reply from the developer. My pixel 4xl stores both the portrait and non portrait copy still. I've read all the instructions here and googled for help. I've emailed the owner of the app for help with no reply. Happy to edit this review if someone would get back to me to help with their app! Very frustrating.

Not working with Pixel 3. I have tried using the app several times. Even rebooted my phone before using it. I reinstalled the app & paid for PRO & none of it seems to make it work. It always get stuck at analysing the folder & the app just crashes! Also unable to change with folder that I want to select. It's hard stuck at the default set by the app upon download.

Froze my phone, freezes when analyzing camera folder. Even paid for full version since free version doesn't do any copies of the folders. Full version also freezes phone. Emailed app developer, no response. would appreciate my money back. Thanks. Edit: App developer worked with me to resolve issue. Issue resolved. Thank you. A+ great app.

Almost all the pictures I'm taking with this app running show they are taken at first (in a preview) but then later on when I go to the gallery they are eirher not there at all or only show up as a black/blank photo that sometimes flashes the actual photo for a split second. Please let me know how I can fix this. As of this moment I cannot recommend an app that tricks you into thinking you're saving precious memories but is actually deleting them :(

Just purchased the Pro... I find this app cery useful. But with the last recent updates, I find that the notification of the app running stays on.. I was able to get this notification off by clicking on it pausing and resuming the app.. Now it only goes away if I click on pause. And I really really find it annoying that it stays on the whole time if the app is running. I decided to purchase the app yo see if maybe by doing so this notification would go away but it won't... Please please fix it! Thanks

Works perfect on my pixel 3a. You'll have to get the paid version to really get the benefits of the whole app, but it's worth it. Frustrating the google stock camera doesn't have the option to mirror the picture already but this app helps that problem. Hope you guys keep this app around and keep adding updates to it! (it tends to crash from time to time)

Using this with the Google Camera port for LG G6. Purchased the paid version. It works sometimes but half of the time it just gets stuck trying to move the photos and clear the directories. It's pretty unreliable. Perhaps the photos are getting stuck because the camera is still post processing the photo? Maybe the app needs a configurable wait timer? Log messages to help with debugging? So close to being a great app but can't rate it highly because it's so unreliable.

S9+ on PIE. I think I'm missing something. When I try to change Target Folder in settings, only Recent and Downloads folder show up and nothing else. All permissions are turned on. Please help. Bought the Pro thinking it'll fix this issue but nope. Edit: user error. I had external drive turned off from disabling all bloat using package disabler pro. app works as promised

Upgraded to pro so i could batch move my portrait photos on my Pixel 3. Everytime I try to do the move, the bar for the "analyzing camera folder" moves slightly, then freezes. Eventually I get a system message saying that the app has stopped working. I have done this 10 times already in the past hour. Its very frustrating to pay for a premium feature, only for it to not work. Please help.
