Very good app for focus, has helped me on more than one occasion. I will say though, the audio it plays, if you choose to play it, sometimes glitches out on my Galaxy S9. It will sometimes just shut off and refuse to play even when my volume is on and the sound option is on. Otherwise though, its a very good focus app, great for people like me who get easily distracted by their phones.

I love this, it has legitimately helped my focus and productivity a ton during this pandemic. I had a lot of trouble focusing at home when my college went online, but this is simple, clear, pretty, and very satisfying. The free version has all I needed but I upgraded just to support the people who made this. I use this daily, even months later. I've recommended it to family, and I'd recommend it to anyone who needs some help staying motivated and focused during all this!

[Edit to add: I'm lowering my rating because the devs have stopped adding new species. ☹️] I've used this app for over 3 years to help me put down my phone & focus. At first it was great but after I aquired all of the interesting trees it got boring & I no longer feel motivated to use it. I've given it a lot of thought & think the app needs the ability to do things like design trails, add streams & waterfalls, etc like an actual forest. It also needs more well designed, detailed tree species.

Works perfectly. Prevents me from accessing phone and gamifies the process. A lot of fun to build perfect little forests. Allows me to leave little notes about the work completed, which is also a nice touch, and i appreciate the tags. Paid version allows you to create lists of allowed apps, a great option when you need to use phone functions for work. One of my favorite time management tools for sure!

Used to love this app. Was disappointed when they added a premium version and locked some trees, but I understand the decision. HOWEVER, they also took away trees that had already been purchased by people without premium accounts, which to me seems ridiculous. They did refund the coins, but now that I've unlocked all the trees with the free version, there's nothing to work for. Considering switching to another app.

Changes my mindset about focus. I somehow switch to focus work much more easily when I think "I'm going to plant a tree now" (positive) instead of "I'm should stop doing this distracting thing" (negative). I paid a little extra for pro so I can set an allow list with apps I need for work - worth it. Unfortunately a known bug I reported months ago is not fixed (ringtone sounds when a session completes). I'd like to use this for bedtime, but then it starts making noise at 1am (overriding DND!)

Amazing experience, love how rather than setting limits for time spent on a device, it helps with self regulation by incentivizing time spent OFF said device. Being able to make app exceptions and keep track of what different focus times are for is super helpful. The planting reminder doesn't work though, and that's upsetting because sometimes I need to be reminded that I have this app in order to remember to use it.

This app has greatly helped me in creating better study habits and eliminating procrastination (I'm a high school senior for reference). Part of the reason is because, rather than simply completely blocking usage of apps, it allows you to choose to break your streak, forcing you to actually consider the consequences of procrastinating. My only gripe is that I feel like the ability to whitelist apps should be free (although it is only around $3, which isn't bad). I'd recommend it to anyone.

The app is decent, but I observed a significant issue: it's quite easy to navigate away from the app while it still runs in the background. This loophole doesn't effectively aid in maintaining focus, as one can use other apps without interrupting the timer. I think there's a strong concept here, but there are areas that could benefit from further development and improvement.

Nice at first, decided to purchase Pro version to make personal tags and unlock more things, cuz why not. But I have to make a separate account for it, which might not sound too bad, but it is honestly annoying/inconvenient for me. Now the shop is locked, period. Before I could at least purchase a few things, now I can't at all. And I don't really want to make an account for it, so it mostly makes me want a refund/not use the app as much :/ It is an alright time management app, though.

The concept for this app is really cool and I am definitely more productive when using the app. It has decreased my phone usage by a lot. However, the biggest problem I have with it is that almost everything is locked behind a pay wall. Features behind the paywall are: achievements, friends, most analytics of your focus time, creating custom tags so you can accurately categorize your time focused, and the majority of the plants that you unlock with coins, and signing up for an account.

I've been using Forest on and off for years and it's wonderful at its job. I often struggle with focusing on tasks and it's helped immensely with discipline. Something I wish was a feature is combining the allow list with the tags, or having an option to pick the allow list when starting a session. I have different allow lists for different tasks and often forget to switch and need to cancel my timer midway through. I do love this app and will continue using for years :)

I really like the app because it's a cute way to keep track of how long I've been in class or studying! My biggest complaint is that a LOT of the more expensive plants don't have any cosmetic changes as time goes on. Since it takes so many coins, I'd assume that everything about it would be... More, but some of them are honestly more plain than the 300-600 coin ones.

This is great! It's definitely helped me to be more focused on work and motivated to stay on task. However, I wish there was an option for it to make it so that I can't open up other apps without killing my tree. If there was a way to just completely eliminate my fun apps during focus time it would be five stars. But the app is really great and it's fun to see my trees grow!

UPDATED 4/25/24: I really liked this app but it doesn't work anymore. In spite of controlling my Allow List I can still open any app and forest doesn't interfere. Hope they'll fix this. This app is super helpful. And I like that it vibrate without making another noise when the timer is up. Plus, the different tree/plant options are so cute.

This app has been amazing at keeping me off my phone by not only blocking all the apps I deem to be distracting, but also having so many cute trees to choose from. However, as of late, all it takes for Forest to stop showing on top of my distracting apps is for me to swipe slightly left from the bottom of my phone. I don't know if this is due to the latest Android update or if this is a bug from the app, but it's genuinely upsetting how easy it is now to access distracting apps. Please fix soon!

Amazing app, works as described. However, whenever the tree has finished growing, the "background noise" (beach sounds, cafe in Paris, whatever) plays full blast on my speaker until I turn it off. It's been a huge annoyance, especially when I'm in study groups or in the library. I would love to know how to fix this distraction. Edit: I stopped using the app because of this glitch. Even after the update, my timers are still ending with random noise, even if I turn off the background noise.

The idea of this app is great! I subscribed to premium and once you do so, the points received are exponentially decreased. Free version 200-400 points per session. Paid version 10 points. Also there is no way to stop the timer after the session is up. It keeps running over. Lovely idea, yet it definitely needs some work

I have used Forest for a while but had to delete it simply because one crucial feature doesn't work: notifications. I start a timer to focus, but then the timer gets stuck and doesn't notify me that the session completed. This happens around 50% of the time. I tried all the fixes for Samsung phones from Forest's own website, but still I don't get notified. To my understanding, the fault is on Samsung and how it makes apps doze off, but that doesn't change that the app doesn't function properly.

I love the app. The functionality is amazing. It keeps me off of time-wasting apps. My review is more about the events. For the events to be included is indeed fun. But the time sensitive nature of them makes me want to rip out my hair and delete the app. I've used Forest for about 6 years and have missed EVERY birthday item because their free collection period for the events are generally about 4 days. It really ruins the fun of it when you're actually busy irl (summer) and don't check the app.
