How it works
Most aircraft today are equipped with ADS-B transponders that transmit positional data. Flightradar24 has a rapidly growing network of over 30,000 ground stations around the world to receive this data that then shows up as aircraft moving on a map in the app. In an expanding number of regions, with the help of multilateration, we’re able to calculate the positions of aircraft that don’t have ADS-B transponders. Coverage in North America is also supplemented by real-time radar data. Coverage is variable and subject to change at any time.

Tried the 1 week free trial, glad I didn't have to pay for it beforehand. Needed Filters & Alerts but couldn't get Alerts to work properly the whole week. The app should send an Alert when your chosen plane enters the map area selected. This would work on 1 of every 10 planes. The rest were on the ground when I got an alert even though I didn't adjust altitude settings to zero (or set them at all). Fix this and I'll be happy to pay your yearly fee.

I am using the free version of this app to keep an eye on aircraft fighting wildfires in the area, and it works great for this. Sometimes the aircraft drops off view, but that's technology and probably terrain issues. My only regret, which is unavoidable, is that it requires data, so if i'm hiking in an area without service, there is no connection and aircraft can't be tracked. But that's not the fault of the app at all.

During the trial period, I was very impressed with Flightradar24. It showed all local planes and helicopters. I subscribed. Since then, I'm very disappointed. Now it shows maybe 10% of what's in the air. My free "Plane Finder" shows more. I've adjusted the filters but still get nearly zero. Would like to cancel because it's now worthless.

I love this app when it works correctly. But for months now, attempting to pinch out to expand the map causes it to lock up. Now, not only does the simple pinch out to expand gesture lock up the app, but it locks up my entire phone, and I am forced to do a hard reset to get it working again. I am running Android 9 and have a fast internet connection. The above is completely unacceptable. To the above, the developer suggests screenshots, etc. Sorry, please read: I cannot. The Phone Hangs.

Absolutely awesome! If you've ever heard a plane or helicoptor, or looked up to see a jet contrail and wondered where it was going, came from, who owns it, what it actually looks like, how high/fast it is, etc., then I highly recommend this app. Very user-friendly, and accurate real time data for just about everything you'll see in the skies, including commercial, private, police, and most military transport aircraft. Only combat craft and a few old planes did not show up for obvious reasons.

The app's sensitivity to selecting specific aircraft on-screen for additional information is off. You can put your finger on a specific aircraft and the app repeatedly highlights an aircraft an eighth to a quarter of an inch away from where your finger is clearly sitting. And no; it's not the phone. No other app on the phone suffers from this incorrect highlighting problem. Other than that, it's a great app. They do keep making more features additional pay only, over time, though.

I do car service from multiple airports. This app has improved to become the best choice for me. I can track specific flights, or see all the incoming traffic to a specific airport. The paid version is well worth the extra information, if you fly more than a couple times a year. The $10 a year subscription gives me all I need, for less than a buck a month. As I track a flight, the location on the map is very accurate. Then it tells me what gate my customers are deplaning at. Great app!

I enjoy this app. I feel everything works well. I hope they will continue to add features like: 1. Filtering types of aircraft displayed. 2. Better persistence when following an aircraft (when you come back, that flight will be dropped off tracking, and gone off the screen if zoomed in too far.) I appreciate customer service, when I've had problems, they are fast to get back to me and are helpful! I recommend this app!

I have used both free and paid versions of this app. In the free version, ads are not excessive, which I appreciate. There are different paid version tiers, and I settled on Silver for the flight data I like to see. $10 / year is a great price for what you get for this tier. It's also intuitive to use at a surface level, and there's more to explore if you want to dive deeper. All in all, excellent app!

Best free tracker I've ever used! Definitely the most accurate one, and being able to watch the icons taxiing, taking off, and landing is really cool. My only issue is that it seems to not be very precise on the takeoff and landing areas. The icons will freeze at the beginning of takeoff, overshoot the runway every landing, and the altitude indicator will continue to read 800ft after landing. Still the best free app.

Great app. Fast, clear, easy to use, and yes, the free version is quite usable, with small, unobtrusive ads. But if you really enjoy planespotting (and want to thank the devs), it's worth it to buy the full package of features (the weather options alone might even take the place of your current weather app). I paid for the full version, and I don't even fly. Terrified of flying, in fact. Hate it. But I really enjoy planespotting, and wouldn't be without Flightradar24.

I'll keep my old paid version. It does the job. Too many nags to update, too many ads. To get all the features is too expensive and it's an annual fee on top of that. Upgraded version is not for the causal user. Also, the squawk feature won't turn off even if unchecked. Annoying. Had some trouble trying to track back to back flights. It only kept the first flight active in the search box and would not load the second flight even after it was airborne until about an hour into its flight. The old version worked fine. The rest of the app works great and is enjoyable. But not for the price.

Works again after map hotfix but really, what's the point? As a purchaser of the former pro version, I, like all the others, have been abandoned by the developer when they upgraded the app to require a paid subscription. Now, to keep the benefits we had as an original purchaser, they want us to pay again. And again, and again, etc, etc, etc. No thanks!

Yet again, another disappointment. I pay for a subscription to use this app, and for the past couple of days it hasn't worked. I recieve notifications as if its working and for followed flights and emergencies, but when I open the app it just crashes. Between getting ripped off after buying the full version several years ago and now having to pay for a subscription, and now paying for things that don't work, Flightradar24 is dropping very quickly on my recommendations and favorite apps list.

This app is easy and fun to use! I live near a flight path, so I filter for that airport & watch who's coming & going. I've learned the distinct sounds of specific flights as the sound bounces off the hills in my area to the point where I can hear a plane overhead & know it's Spirit airlines arriving from Vegas, or Hawaiian airlines arriving from Hawaii. It's so cool and a great conversation starter!

It's a cool app to track the air traffic flying over my house all day & all night, 24/7; I wish I'd had this app before I bought this house. Also, between this app, a satellite/ISS tracker, and a star map, it's easier than ever to pick out lights in the sky that shouldn't be there. Just point my phone at it, scroll through these apps, and if it's not identified, I snap a pic. Either the lights are in 1 of these apps or it's unmarked military or it's... other

Love this app. I fly standby and need this when I travel. It does have a free service to use Plus no nasty pop up ads. I like the 3D viewing But it's limited on that function. You can opt to pay a very little monthly fee. One thing I wished they included is an offline viewing of your travel when the phone is in airplane mode. Granted the airline has internet service at a fee.but when your retired those fees isn't important. Thank-you for the awesome service.

I absolutely ❤️ FR 24! Where I live, planes going to JFK in NY from Europe fly over my house. This app lets me know when they'll be in view so I don't miss them (esp. Emirates, Etihad & Lufthansa). I added the airplane names to the symbols for easier identification. For those of you who want to pinpoint a specific plane on your phone & are having a problem, pinch & stretch; that will separate the symbols & make it easier to tap for more info. EWR = New Jersey, not NY.

I installed the free version. Installation is easy, quick & painless. If you're just trying to see what planes fly over your location this works great. App runs without lagging, glitching or crashing. A dark mode feature for people like me who are very light sensitive would be a great addition to the settings of the app.

The new 3D feature is amazing and even more realistic with the planes and scenery. I've been using Flightradar24 for a few years now, and it keeps getting better. UPDATE: The latest update has made the app lag and takes time to load. 3D planes won't load and missing flight information. UPDATE: What's happened to the 3D feature? It hasn't been working the past few days.
