The controls straight up don't work. You'd think that a console port would have an on screen controller like every other port of every other action rpg, but no, it's all contextual screen taps that attack when I want to move and move when I want to attack. Maybe there's a way to change that in the options but I can't change the options until I finish the tutorial. Maybe there's a trick to how the controls work but the tutorial doesn't explain it. If I can't even play, it's not a game.

This game is so nostalgic. Graphics in this remaster is excellent. I brought the full version. For those to reasons alone. But I must say the controls for mobile are horrible. There is no local multiplayer nor can you roam cities towns etc with friends like the old days. You can only dungeon dive and only the host can receive anything. The game can with out a double be fixed with some major patch work. I really want this game to be good. Tighten this thing up square. You guys can fix this!

I'm really sad that I had to leave a bad review. This is one of my all time favorite games, and I was so stoked for the remaster, but this game is a bit of a mess right now. The touch controls are pretty good, but I wish there was controller support. I love the art, but I wish the graphic settings were a little more robust (The game is locked at 30fps, has a resolution cap, no antialiasing, etc even on high mode). The biggest problem is it wont even let you buy the full game atm 🤨😭 plz fix

This mobile port controls surprisingly well! In addition, the graphics look just as charming as the original, if not more so. Of course, the biggest elephant in the room is the multiplayer. While online co-op and crossplay streamlines playing across long distances, that long distance is hindered by region locking. Multiplayer is also restricted to dungeons only, which is passable, but ruins the immersion of travelling together in a caravan. General lagging and glitches are pretty rampant too.

Desperately needs controller support. It feels pretty clumsy to play. The moogle and chat button gets in the way -all the time- because it's at the bottom right corner of the screen, where actions like attack would be in other games. Solo play is pretty decent, but the multiplayer is extremely laggy. The worst is trying to pick up items and the chalice. Even when playing with friends in the same room+connection, there is a long delay when picking things up.

The original GameCube release was ahead of its time, but the mobile version is a bit behind. Skip the paid version unless the price drops significantly. Good: Touch screen controls work better than expected, when they work. It's a fun game. Beginning of the game is free. Bad: Waaaaay overpriced. This game is 17 years old. It should be $5, or $10 if it were updated and optimised. Long and frequent load times. Sometimes unresponsive controls.

Played on a Samsung S22 Ultra No issues with the game's performance. Touch controls are... okay. They work and attacking is fine. But picking up items is a chore. You have to wait for the grab icon to appear above an item. 8 times out of ten you're not close enough and end up swinging your weapon instead. Sorting through commands is even worse. You swipe left and right to change commands but it's so unintuitive. And forget about using defend - you're never gonna use it. Get the console version.

If you want to play multiplayer, this is 2/5. It's not working well at all. If you're weird like me and are ok with single player, it's probably 3/5. Game is still fun, but it's just not living up to what it could be. No Google Play cloud saves, people having issues fully purchasing, etc. Some new things like shared storage are good though, and allow alternate characters to start with better equipment so they don't have to struggle as much if you start them later on. OST is still amazing.

I played the original of this game back on gamecube. And tho the nostalgia is still there, there is plenty that could have been done to the controls of this game to bring it up to modern standards. Each of the combat commands are hidden behind a scroll wheel. Though it works well with touch screen inputs, it is ultimately unnecessary tasking in game. There is no point in scrolling to your defensive stance ever. If all the commands were moved to on screen buttons, the game will be much better.

After all these months, there is still no controller support. Good game to kill time on your phone, but DO NOT BUY this version. Not only are touch controls annoying to pick up items/magic, it gives consoles a clear advantage because you will never pick something up faster than they can. There have been more times than I would like to admit where I didn't get a single item/magic the whole dungeon. If you're enjoying this game and want to buy the whole thing, buy it on a console.👍🏽

Without controller support this is garbage. Move by swiping on the left of the screen. Attack by tapping/holding on the right. You have to swipe to change commands to, say, DODGE which is a gross oversight for an ACTION RPG. On screen buttons would serve better. Interested in multiplayer? If you go after a drop there is a moment where the item can be retrieved but the icon for Android users isn't available. This means console players will always grab everything before you can even think about it

The controls are fine, even slightly intuitive for a mobile game. If you intend to play this whole game solo, you likely won't run into too many issues. But, if you wanted the main selling point of finally playing multiplayer in this game after all of these years, stop. You can only do dungeon instances together (no team traveling), after which the lobby dissolves and you'll have to go through another few minutes of getting into another, and you don't get myrh/letters if you're not the host.

Beautiful graphics. Great sound. Controls are fine (sans difficult item pickup). 4 voice options per gender & race & you can turn voice off in the settings menu later. I'm upset about the multiplayer functions--only the host collects myrrh & memories, but other players do get to keep items & artifacts from dungeons. Just sucks tht you have to play through the same dungeon several times to progress together. Laggy cut scenes. No cloud save. Can't even buy full version. What is up?

Hey square, I really like this game however I have some issues. 1. Set the screen timeout to a least be same as the phone using it. I have lost out on artifacts at least three times and had to rely on autosave because it will crash the game when it happens on multiplayer. 2. Increase the radius of item pickup by a little. You can chase a piece of magicite across the map and never pick it up. 3. On multiplayer you can't fuse magicite anyway so maybe have a magicite inventory limit or something.

So happy that I can take my favorite game on the go! The new features are super nice and I love the mimic addition. But the app controls for the focus/magic attacks are hard to move and the multi-player setup is extremely disappointing. I can't enjoy the cutscenes or see towns with friends so the campaign experience is super lonely. Please update so I can progress with my friends as one whole caravan!

Takes me back(still need work) this game by far was one of my favorites for game cube and I wanted to play it again so badly. I think the controls could use a different layout so you can block and heal instead of stopping to do so. I was disappointed about having to buy the full version but I'll definitely be buy it. Please PLEASE make improvements to the controls and gameplay PLAESE

This has by far the worst control scheme I've ever seen on a mobile game, and that's a lot to say for a mobile game. You literally might as well install Dolphin on your phone and run the original on the emulator. The controls will be about just as intuitive. Plus the remaster is only in a playable condition during solo so not much a difference in multiplayer either. They want $25 for a generally worse version of a game that came out 10 years ago that happens to have voice acting now. 1 star.

Like others I don't want to leave a bad review because of how special the original is to my friends and I. The problem isn't the game itself but everything that drives it. The controls are not intuitive especially when you are switching between attack defense and magic. The lobby system is buggy because you get randomly disconnected without realizing it. Disconnecting before a boss is killed doesn't allow you to reconnect to claim rewards which results in no progress and loss of data.

My two major issue with phone version. 1 No controller support. Not that complicated to add in. Especially for a big game development company. Puts us playing with friends on console at a huge disadvantage. 2 it's literally the same game. The graphics look the same to me. It's "remastered" i feel all was done was a port then adding online...like come on. You couldn't even add more characters or family sprites? Lame. So either laziness or low budget or both. I had high hopes too.

This game is fine, it's fun and has a cool style, just like the original. It does, however, have a lot of things that are clunky. The multiplayer is a pain to get to work, and disconnects as soon as you do anything, like open up messenger while the game is still running. I've played online games that keep going while you have the app running in the background, so this is definitely an issue. Additionally, you can only play multiplayer for dungeons that are in the area you are currently in.
