It runs fine, even on my ageing phone (Galaxy A5 2017). A small number of areas do drop the framerate, but it's rare and probably not an issue on modern devices. I don't like touch screen controls much, but RPGs like this are better suited than most genres. The update for controller support is something to look forward to, but the game is playable without one. No internet connection required for saving or anything, which is good for me. Cloud saves (or Squall saves) are now available.

Even ater 20 years, since it's 1st release, final fantasy 8 still a great game. But, i won't say the android port is a good port. I have this remastered one, on my switch and i would said it's good because it use controller. But, on android? Meh, it feels like played on the emulator. They cramped the virtual button on the screen, so, it's feel awful to look at. Moreover, the button, especially the "B" button is not too responsive, so it it really give a hard time, when you need to cancel choice.

I have ff8 on physical (original ps1) on emulation, steam, and now on Android. However, as much as I tried to avoid criticizing the touch controls, it's indeed, terrible. This game needs controller support and also an update to the touch controls. Also adjust the game music volume and widescreen please.

Lg stylo 6. I have been periodically checking for updates and saw that they had released one. I immediately redownloaded the game to see if they had fixed the issues I had. They have. The Issue several people had with images overlaying appears to be fixed. I have updated my review accordingly. Thanks for putting in the effort to fix this version of my favorite game!

Decent port, but unlike the other Android releases there is no mobile save, so any progress in between savepoints will be lost when the game crashes. Also did not realize it wouldn't be compatible with my Samsung tablet, unlike all of the other Final Fantasy android editions. Ridiculously steep price for what is a bare bones adaptation.

Please ignore anyone who says it don't have the boosts like other ports as it does..it's just to be accessed u hit the pause button. This brings up all the boosts. So they are working on this game and as soon as cloud saves is enabled it will be complete and definitely it is the best version of ff8 available and worth what you pay. That's why the read of reviews right. It's worth.

To be clear this is basically an emulator shell with the game in it. That said, for me, it runs better than I've ever seen my original Playstation or even any emulator run it. I actually appreciate that they left the original game mostly intact because of the nostalgia as this was my favorite game in the series by far. It looks just like you remember, but creamy smooth lines and without lag.

Always been a fan of this one even with the annoying draw feature for obtaining Magix. Please add controller support! The on screen controls work well enough but the battle mechanic for your gunblade to "perfect hit" isn't really possible with them. Also an option to turn off guardian forces attack animation would be nice with how heavily you rely on them in this game!

I love ff8 very very much but I'm having a serious problem. All my controls are gone. There is no button or analog. It still works partially, but I can only walk around and access the menu by guessing where the button was. Driving the car is impossible without being able to see what I'm doing. All it says is I shouldn't get out now. I can't even get to the seed exam because of this. What is going on??

Faithful but rather small screened recreation port of the game. Requires a lot of RAM. If you don't have a high end device, don't bother. For the price it should've been full screened. Hence the 4 star rating. The graphics really aren't remastered and look low quality. Somewhat of a disappointment, but this is one of my favorites in the FF series. I was waiting for this one. I recommend if you can find a tablet with the hardware to play this game on.

This is a pretty fun game. The junction system gets a lot of flack, but if you treat Disc 1 as the part where you're supposed to familiarize yourself with that system, it starts coming together in pretty impressive ways on Disc 2. I've started having trouble getting saves to sync across devices. Saves on my phone are hours behind progress I've made on my tablet and I can't get them to refresh no matter what I try, which kinda sticks, but beyond that glitch, still fun.

Still my favorite game of all time!! The control mapping feels a little awkward. The graphics and gameplay are great on the Pixel 4a. No skips or freezing in the game. Would definitely like to see the autosave feature fixed in a future update. Overall a two thumbs up for the remastered Android version....(( P.S. Can't wait for the controller support to come out. It would be nice to have on the next update. It would definitely make the gameplay much easier!))

Its a great port of one of my favorite games of all time. If you loved the game on PS1, then this provides a great way to play it again anywhere. Would be 5 stars, but sometimes when you go do something else while the app is running, the app will reset and you will lose any progress since the last save. Other FF ports will autosave when the scene transitions and if this one did that it would be 5 stars.

I played this into the ground at release, and everything was great. Went back to play through again a year later, and now the button overlay is completely off the mark. Every button to the right of center screen (A B Y X R1 R2) has it's calibration off by so much you can't even touch the button. You have to tap to the right of every button to make it work, making the game almost unplayable with the small size and location of some of the buttons. Custom touch screen pad does not fix this issue.

My favorite FF game in their numbered series and arguably the best game since IV, eh maybe VI. Though I'm more than likely biased. It was more easily relatable to me than previous entries. As both myself and the protagonist (Squall) were both whiny emo teenagers. I throughly loved the how the Guardian Forces (GF) worked. From their special abilities, like turning items into ammo, to their integral role with the Junction system. The Draw ability has to be my absolute favorite skill.

After putting about 50 hours into this game I beat it. No issues with this version the entire way through. I really enjoy being able to use the 3x speed feature that was absent from the original version. Everyone knows what a pain it is to draw 100 magic each time you find a cool new spell but this makes it a bit more bearable. Not to mention tearing through 20 Tonberries in a row. This was a great game on Playstation and this version improves on almost everything from it.

My favorite FF game and pretty well done including the updated character models. I'd leave 5* except that the touch screen controls are off. In order to hit the button I have to press to the right of the circles. Trying to input the codes on the Timber mission is not going well. Please fix this, then I can update the games rating and review.

It worked fine on my last phone, but ever since I upgraded, the game has been buggy. I started over, and it keeps an image of the bed from the infirmary on the screen, blocking your character. You can't see anything or move around really. This is my favorite game of all time, and I really want to play it, but these issues are making it impossible. Even at the start screen, the finger doesn't move. So, you don't know if you're loading a game, starting a new one, or loading the credits.

Very nicely rendered, almost 100% worth it. Controls could be better, the calibration appears to be off because you have to tap just to the right of where the button is placed, even in a custom layout. I have a moto G stylus. Everything else is great! I owned this game for both PC and PS1 and am happy to be able to support the game and square enix again. I'd love to see some new releases with similar game and story mechanics. A fresh 50% nostalgia and 50% modern TBRPG would be spectacular!

So it's unfortunate that they don't fix the bugs they are aware of. I suppose they are unable to or it is not worth their time. Regardless, the game functions adequately. I am playing it on Beam Pro w/ XREAL Air 2 Pro w/ Gulikit KK2. I could emulate the original or even obtain the apk for this, but that would be a hassle. This downloaded and installed in one minute. It claims that saves are uploaded to the cloud. If this feature functions properly, it adds value and justifies the cost.
