This is gacha done well. Fans of the classic Final Fantasy series games (like IV and VI) will certainly appreciate FFBE. It is pretty clear that a lot of care was put into the story/campaign mode, especially the quality of the music and the background animation. The community is very supportive and there are all sorts of resources to help you reach your best. I ranked all the way up to 178 before I uninstalled the game due to lack of memory.

Great Square Enix game for those who need a throw back to the older Final Fantasy series. Great story and lots of events. You won't get bored. Just don't appreciate the random acquisition of characters. UPDATE: Too many new and higher grade characters coming too quickly. This makes game play in events hard to enjoy when your favorite characters become obsolete.

I absolutely love this game! Brave frontier was a great game too and them they made this. Adding so much more to the game with explorations and towns and bringing classic FF characters, oh my! .... But... the crashes! It randomly crashes on me here and there, when I'm in mid battle, in the town, anywhere! This game deserves a 5* but not until they fix the crashes.... they somewhat fixed.... every now and again like when does surfaces it will crash

A lot cooler than I expected, when you finally get a few familiar characters, the nostalgia kicks into hyperdrive. The controls are easy to use. Only issue I had was the long initial download when you first begin to play, but after that the download sessions are shorter. Cool story, revamped and old-school battle system becomes addictive and very fun. I haven't experienced any bugs or glitches yet.

Fun, fast paced, and addictive, but can be a little much to figure out at once in the beginning. It can take a long time to catch up to people that have played for a long time, but friend units and multiple difficulty levels help. I just feel that lately they've been pushing quantity over quality with a crowd of new units every week and repetitive events. Also, the size of the game has grown rapidly to fill my phone's drive.

I always enjoy this game, but it's irritating that 100% of the friend options the game recommends already have full friend lists. There are things you can't do in the game without friends and apparently it's impossible to get friends as a new user...or there's a bug. Either way really irritating...and looking at older reviews it looks like this bug has been around for almost 2 years. Yeah no. Deleting it.

Great game if you have a love of Final Fantasy! The game has its faults with some bugs when logging in. If I do not close the game by exiting and logging out of my account it freezes the next time I launch the app. Then to get it to run properly, I have to uninstall and redownload the app and data all over again. There has to be a fix for this nonsense.

A nice game to play casually. The main story is nice, as well as the story events happening every now and then. Unfortunately the meta is just constant powercreep. In order to progress to harder content you have to have the best units which are in huge drop pools of trash units with very low drop rates. Also recently the game has had more bugs than I've seen through my years of playing, many of which affect the actual gameplay. (Don't use play points as they're bugged in this game).

I have been playing Final Fantasy since I was a teenager and this game is a nice nostalgic trip due to the characters aquired along the way. Game play is quite similar to brave frontier, however, there are a few aspects that are very confusing such as the "Trust Master" and the moogles obtained that I just cannot seem to be able to fuse to anything and I keep getting a "Wrong trust" message. Good luck figuring that out. Overall, this game is nice.

Edited: Slowly and steadily ffbe has drifted away from what made it feel like a true FF game. No more involved side quests, and town areas have become much less interesting to explore. I wish i could still recommend this game, but no longer can. Was surprised how much this feels like an old FF RPG given that it's built for mobile. The Longer I play the better it seems to get. The story is progressing nicely and the trials are very fun to plan for and finally take down.

I've never been one to get addicted to phone games, but this game has finally done me in. I love the final fantasy series and the inclusion of classic characters, the simple but rewarding combat system, and the amount of content and replay value in this game is fantastic. It's energy based, requiring time to pass to keep playing, but there's a number of free ways to get energy back and get some very good play value out of what you have.

After several years the game has areas which need improvement. Frankly, it's too bloated now with too many side projects. I haven't even touched the story in weeks. Most of the timed events demand too much time to accomplish anything. And powercreep has left us with hundreds of useless characters and items. Overall, it's fun, but they need to reel it in a bit.

Fun and a nostalgic reminder of Final Fantasy. My only complaint is how fast the events go. If your not quick, and don't have the time you can miss out on some awesome units and items. I had to update my review of this, I am on the verge of quitting this after several years of playing it. The game like many phones games anymore has become far to pay to win for my liking, the greed is getting out of hand with these things.

Lots of characters, fun gameplay, plenty of events, and you really don't need to pay to have fun in this game. The monetization can be annoying but for F2P players there are plenty of options. Got prettu boring once reaching the end of the campaign, at that point either go for collecting for its own sake, or optimization. Which is where monetization gets frustrating. Still better than most games in my experience.

This game has changed since I started playing, and I no longer enjoy it. It was something you could farm away at, or play casually, and still enjoy. The power creep has gotten to where you're basically grinding all the time or whaling, or you can't do a whole lot. Great concept, well implemented, microtransaction greed sucked the joy out of it though.

It's definitely a great game and I find myself spending many hours a day just grinding in it. Well worth. EDIT (2/9/19) I'm having to reinstall my game for the 4th time since the Google Binding option became available. It's getting ridiculously frustrating having to do this so often because of how much data has to be re-downloaded. There was a time when I really loved playing this game but recently it's gotten difficult to even want to log in because of all the buggy things going on right now.

The game is ok. The story can be decent and sometimes just bad. Popular characters/series get more love than others. Takes a while to create a good team. Some challenges can be quite difficult but possible to beat f2p. Rates are ok, and there are decent rewards every once in a while. I come back to it often since I do like the style of the game and the challenges it can provide. I think its worth a try.

Six years later and I tried it again. I'm adjusting my rating to a single star following an uninstall, for one reason. Too. Many. Popup. Tutorials. Everytime I'd try to do something or investigate a notification, I'd return to the main screen and yet another unwarranted tutorial would arise. It's as though the developers believe the players arent smart enough to figure it out, or the systems are needlessly complicated for no discernible reason.

It's not bad for a free to play game. Graphics are nice, and it's always fun to get a chance to play with old FF characters. But the main characters are a little flat, quickly transitioning from overly dramatic/emo to completely flippant as they kill monsters and nearly die themselves at times. And it seems like the game allows for really strong teams and items that are completely unnecessary for the current story.

As a returning player after several years, there's A LOT to do, almost too much. That's not necessarily a bad thing though. The only thing I have an issue with is the text size on some units' names and ability descriptions - it's so tiny in some instances that I can barely read it! Maybe don't try to cram SO much info into such a tiny space.
