More About FAIRTIQ

With FAIRTIQ you don’t have to buy a ticket in advance, indicate your destination or struggle to find the right zone. You will always be charged the best available price, once you have completed your journey. It doesn't matter how often you switch directions, or even if you change between trains, buses and trams. With FAIRTIQ there are no hassles, no complications, just smooth and easy travel at fair prices!
How it works

Shortly before boarding a vehicle, such as train, bus, tram or boat, simply swipe the "Start" button in the FAIRTIQ app. Your final destination does not need to be entered.
If a conductor requests ticket validation, click the "Show ticket" button and the QR code will automatically be displayed in the app.
Once you have arrived at your destination, swipe the "Stop" button in FAIRTIQ. The optimised cost for your trip is then displayed in the app.

Companion mode: With this new function, not only do you get a valid ticket easily and conveniently, but also your fellow companions.

I didn't believe it first, but it definitely works as they promised. No hassle, just set up an account, and then swipe right to start the journey. Be reminded that this isn't good for a daily commute, its purpose is to hop on a ride every now and then only! You may use it for that anyway, but be aware of the cost.

My half-fare travel card has been registered in the app, but a full fare was charged. I sent several emails for complaints but they replied with statements copied and pasted from their website, useless. I had issues about cards before, which has not been sorted. I will use another app definitely.

Very easy to use, gives the best price available rather than having to guess which ticket to purchase with the endless amount of choices within the manual machines. Great notification when i forget to swipe off after my journey is complete which is much appreciated. Great simple app.

Easy to use, in theory. In practice, I've been having trouble geolocating myself. Sometimes it takes 3, worst case was ~7 minutes just so I can activate my ticket. I've never had issues with gps on this phone and this feature used to work a lot more reliable. Not sure what changed.

It's one of the best app on my phone. very good design, very pratical. No more hassle of finding the right ticket. Many times it gave me a daily ticket as I took the bus more often than initially anticipated, and it helped me saving money. Congrats to the team that thought and develop that app. I already convinced a few of my friends to use it.

The App worked fine for a while, until it apparently somehow turned itself off... While not even showing that it was not turned off! When I tried to show the conducteur the QR Code he could not scan it and I got fined. Upon contacting the support, which needed a few weeks to reply, my fine got doubled. Because appearently they are billing their customers for their Customers Service and without even doing anything???

Way better (and cheaper!) than regular bus tickets. Smooth and easy to use. Almost perfect as a ticket app; twice I found myself logged out or having to re-enter my credit card info, but this was a while ago, so hopefully this was just an early version issue.

Useful app with easy user interface. However automated functions not the best/can't be relied upon. For example, ending my journey between stations, when I was on a fast train and it never went slower than about 50kmh; or adding to my journey, stops I haven't been to just because I've walked near a bus that will be going there.

The app is very dubious when it comes to pricing. It has a price on a fixed route but the same route has different price on the return journey. I have a very bad experience with the app and the customer service is very complete waste of time . They charge for the journey and do not even respond to the complaints but keep charging my card for all the wrong price. Very disappointed in the app.

Great app. I only got my fingers stuck in the problem reporting tool. It was obscure to me - I had the feeling my report had been ignored for a few months. But it was correctly processed actually. The solution proposed is to make the followup of issues within the app, rather than email. Emails are overcrowded. I my case, I only look at my inbox (contains only emails from trusted people). The Fairtiq confirmation emails went to my Updates autofolder, which I dont consult. My bad, but classic

Really simple and easy to use it. Geolocation is very precise and never had any problems with it! Good job guys! Two remarks: -App is extremely battery consuming. -I often forget to end my journey again when getting out of the bus/train. The reminder that my session is still running comes too late. Maybe there is another and better alternative to that.

The app works perfectly, but the pricing is really bizarre and often doesn't make any logical sense. The €10 daily maximum is also much more than a €5,60 day ticket offered by the local transport association. Yes, it's cheaper than the full-region day ticket, but I'm not using the distance that ticket is required for. I'm spending more money using this app. Today I made two identical journeys in opposite directions and the cost of one was nearly twice the cost of the other. Confusing.

Thanks a lot! Very convenient app, using it every day. A couple of minor disturbances are that the app doesn't work without Internet -- sometimes you enter the tram in a place without an Internet connection, and that the final station detection is often quite slow, at least here in Freiburg. If that's fixed, the app will be just perfect.

Really like it. Once set up it's very easy to use. Overview of fares is intuitively laid out. Also, definitely cheaper per journey than paying when boarding. So far, it also seems to be able to work out best rate local fares ( e.g. day saver tickets, etc ) pretty instantaneously - this is based on Thuringia, Germany. Wish I'd known about it sooner.

Visiting. Just need a single ticket to ride the tram. Instead of simply selling the ticket and being paid by PayPal, (Un)Fairtiq wants me to create an account and pay them with all kinds of personal data. Useless and very unfair.

Very poorly managed app. My account got blocked for the second time now, because there has been "apparent issues tracking my location". I've always had my location turned on and optimized it for good tracking (like no saving mode etc.) Besides the point of using and swiping correctly. Being accused of misuse or wrongly detected location data is not my problem. Fix your trackers. 🤡

Convenient and snappy. Customer service is very friendly and patient. For instance, when you forget to checkout and pay too much, and then contact them, the support is great.

The app stops showing after few minutes that the trip is ongoing (initially the message is on lock screen/top of the phone, but then dissapears. So if you forget to stop the trip you don't see that it is still on and this can get expensive). In some regions it does not allow to buy dog tickets and says "dog travel not allowed in this region", even if these places have normal dog tickets.

Not at all a way to save money on tickets. Just plan the journey and buy the appropriate ticket via coins or sms. Counting the days it saved me money, I am at a net loss of at least 15 CHF in juste two months of rare USE. Sorry, hard delete.
