This app shows a great selection UNTIL you start using it. Shows all books available in a series, or by a certain author, and once you've started listening to these books, suddenly the rest of the series shows "available soon". "Coincidentally" the available date is right after your next month's renewal. This is not just annoying, but a clear tactic to keep subscribers by stringing them along. It's not truly unlimited when they take away what you obviously want to listen to.

Great selection of books but the app frequently crashes or randomly pauses my media. This happened the first time I had this app as scribd a few years ago. I hoped it would've been fixed by now but I'm still having the same issue. Because of this I won't go past the free trial. Edit: the pausing issue has been resolved. However, I still have issues with the reading limitations. It's marketed as unlimited reading but I hit whatever limit there is in a few days and can't read more til next month.

I'm a huge fan of Everand and its innovative approach to being the "Netflix" for books, especially with the inclusion of audio books. However, I've encountered a minor glitch when skipping chapters or seconds in audiobooks, causing the audio book to close unexpectedly. This issue is the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. I believe fixing this glitch would greatly enhance the overall user experience. Looking forward to future updates!

The throttling of access has me not wanting to renew my subscription. For being a book consumer app, it doesn't want you to read ebooks or listen to audiobooks "too much". Edit in response: I used to be able to read multiple books/listen to multiple audiobooks without ever hitting any limits. Now I'm getting told everything I want to read is unavailable. This isn't "rotating inventory", this is punishing subscribers for using the service.

Edit 4/23/24: 5 🌟 5 years later and I'm still here. It's a great service with a really great selection for my tastes; Fantasy, thriller, sci-fi, litrpg, among others mostly audio. Some good comics too. 1/8/19: 4🌟 Overall good subscription. The ability to add a widget would be amazing. I use primarily for audiobooks. Great selection but selection reduces once you've listened to a certain number of books, or hours. Still leaves plenty to listen to. For a great price I cant complain.

Loved this app until they charged me twice in one month for a subscription. Customer service leaves much to be desired. They send you a "ticket" and tell you their support will look into it in 24-48 hours. Unsatisfactory. Update: Finally contacted by "customer support", which,btw, is a misnomer, imo. No actual results from them. I paid $24 in the past month for what was supposed to be a 30-day free trial (nothing free with them obviously). Now, can't even finish reading the book I had started!

I love the app, but for some reason every few weeks it'll say the next title in the series is "coming soon". The details on that say I've reached my limit on that months cycle?! I listen to audiobooks while working so when I can't finish a series quickly it's very frustrating. I bought this subscription so I DIDNT have to wait for the next book to come out like audible!

They've struggled a bit since Everand split from Scribd. I can read/listen to a lot per month, so long as it isn't all in one series - if it's a series, they force me to space it out by marking the next book "available soon" until next month, a misleading use of "unlimited reads". But other than some recently fixed bugs and an app log-in fail that took a month to fix (they gave me credit), it's been worth the minimal cost for a ton of material to complement my local library card.

I love the wide selection of audiobooks available on this app, you can get hundreds of them, some newly released, for less than a single month of Audible, however the app is TERRIBLE! You basically can't be doing anything else on your screen or the app will constantly pause which defeats the purpose for me as a professional driver. I listen to audiobooks on my drives but they are constantly pausing with this app, it's extremely annoying.. please FIX!!!

I love the price and the selection is good, however most books I've been wanting to read/listen to lately are "available soon." Still better than audible in the value sense, however lately I've had problems with the app crashing randomly in the middle of listening to my audiobook. I just started a book 15 min ago and it's already stopped playing 3 times. Each time I have to go get my phone and open the app back up.

Was great but am trying to cancel my subscription. Gives me a page to go to but still won't let me cancel. Forces me to put in a code to sign in, then when I try to cancel brings me back to the log in page where I'll need a different code. Very upset Edit: I got it sorted through email! It was a great app, but I didn't use it anymore. I changed my rating to 5 stars! I would use the app again if I decide I want to. I'm just so busy at the moment.

👍 updated review - I had some issues with the application, but I think/hope it was because I was on Beta version. Beta it would inevitably (within a couple of months) become unresponsive - I would need to uninstall/reinstall to get it to stop crashing ever single time I opened it, losing BOTH my saved and my downloaded books. Installed regular release and this time my saved books were retained, whew. I do NOT recommend Beta version.

used to be a good app but now they limit how much you can read a month & then move titles to "available soon". it can happen in the middle of a book or you finish one book of a series & the next book is "available soon" even though it was available when you started the series. it wasn't like this when I started my subscription. they leave some books available but they aren't popular authors. my save list went from 229 to only 26 books available until my next payment. not worth it anymore.

Forever crashing. It doesn't matter if I download, stream on wifi or with cell data the app crashes several times a day. And don't get your hopes up just because you added a book to your saved list they disappear without reason or notice. Browsing for titles is tedious because everything needs to be tapped multiple times before you can get to the synopsis.

Really solid app. Lots of selection to choose from and the app seems pretty stable. Easy to navigate as well. My only gripe is that I can't cast audio books to my Nest Mini. If they would add casting support, this would be the best app. Edit: Just read about the limits they have imposed from other reviewers, and I'm cancelling my subscription. I'll stick to Audible, they have good sales each month, and no one tells me what I can and can't read and listen to. What a shame.

For someone like me who is always busy on the go, and sometimes just don't have time to sit and read (and can't be caring physical books) this app has been great. If I'm stuck in some waiting room, i can just pull my phone and start reading or listen to an audio book while I wait. I also have a hard time to wine down and fall asleep and I've tried so meny things and this app has the only audio book that can make me fall asleep immediately. Great selection of books, easy to use app, I love it!

Great app; works a lot better than it did the last time I reviewed it. The one improvement I'd really like to see is the ability to move the app and data to external storage. ETA I'm very disappointed in the fact that if you read or listen to multiple items, you can reach a limit at which the algorithm takes away earlier titles you still haven't finished. Some warming would have been nice. PENALTY ONE STAR.

I paid for a subscription 3 books in I noticed less titles were available. After my 4th book I got a message saying I'd exceded my monthly limit. I inboxed support and they kept giving me run around about how many books you have access to a month. Even in the faqs it just says there is a limit. Even after emailing them multiple times they respond with the same cookie cutter answer. Also the app it very buggy. It doesn't continously stream. The app glitches while scrolling.

Idk what changed when they switched from Scribd to Everand, but the app is quite glitchy now. Almost every time I leave the app, it kicks me back to where I started reading the previous time, meaning I have to scroll through a bunch of pages to find where I actually left off, even if it's only been 5 mins since I last read. Good selection. Wish they were up front about the throttling so I could plan what to read for the month. Stinks to find everything on my list blocked halfway thru the month

I hate algorithms. After a few months, you're locked into a narrow set of recommendations (mostly cheap Amazon freebies) that clog every view and make finding anything new a chore. You have to think of and then get to very specific categories, find which results lists have more than a few items, change the sorting and filters every which way, sift through long, stagnant lists of randomness, click on something similar to what you want and scan through related items.
