More About EVA Facial Mouse

EVA FACIAL MOUSE is an application developed and promoted by CREA with the support of Fundación Vodafone España.
EVA FACIAL MOUSE is a free and open source application that allows the access to functions of a mobile device by means of tracking the user face captured through the frontal camera. Based on the movement of the face, the app allows the user to control a pointer on the screen (i.e., like a mouse),which provides direct access to most elements of the user interface.

People with amputations, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or other disabilities may be beneficiaries of this app.

Due to restrictions of the Android platform, there are currently some LIMITATIONS:
• Most standard keyboards do not work with EVA, so a basic keyboard is provided. Such a keyboard needs to be manually activated after the installation.
• Does not work with most games.
• Browsers do not handle properly some actions (we recommend using Google Chrome).
• Applications such as Maps, Earth and Gallery work with restrictions.
• It cannot be used simultaneously with other applications that make use of the camera.
• For obvious reasons, it has not been tested with all devices available on the market. If you find any issues with your device, please, let us know.

In this link, you can find a list of devices (tablet and mobile) that have been evaluated according to their compatibility with the EVA Facial Mouse application: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gxuIKbw92d9USPT_SvM0iCdWjtnVcx7owJAgwM6Za6w/edit#gid=0

EVA has been developed in collaboration with experts and users from organizations of ASPACE Confederation (Spain). In particular, ASPACE Asturias, ASPACE Barcelona, ASPACE Gipuzkoa, ASPACE Granada, APPC Tarragona and AVAPACE. Furthermore, it has been tested by CEAPAT, CRE (León) and ASPAYM Castilla y León.

This app uses Accessibility services.

Though i am not satisfied with how we have to use it,i give 3 stars for surprisingly good motion detection though i suppose that credit goes to my phone anyway it is usefull after all for disabled persons.so it gets 3 stars for the effort i guess.

Awesome idea, but depends on good lighting and front camera picture quality, spent quite a bit of time fine tuning pointer movement but still wasn't satisfied. -_-

Dear developer, The app is very useful. Looking as a application of next generation type of programming but you work on UI and try to make the app able to work with eye movements so that it became more efficient. Thank you

I like this application very much. I try to use this app with my patients that can not speak. But it can not work in google slide. I can use this app to click to next slide but can not click text or pictures that have link to another slide.

Does not work on my realme 3i device. It keeps on looping at accessibility setting. It works fine on my xiaomi device. Please fix this bug for realme devices. I like your Idea of making this app

Can the enable and disable from the camera be turned off? I accidentally hit the top of my phone causing unwanted enables. The blink to click option sounds great but I don't see where to enable it.

I think its totally usless.Just to zoom in or zoom out or just simply to scroll up or down first have to open the action menu then choose the action and lots more to do just for simple things. It may be usefull for them who r physically paralysed or dont have hands. But its not for making things lazier. It just increases work and consumes more time so its completely useless...

It sounded as a great option but I'm unable to use it. On my set realme 3 pro, it asks to enable accessibility settings and whenever I try to rnanle it, it comes back to initial screen.

Really good idea! But it wasn't working out to well for me. It was really slow and if i moved my head down it wouldn't go down it would go anywhere it wanted and it was really slow. So id give this a 3 star vote

I really love this project but the only thing vodafone's is the gesture controls like you can give us an option to adjust gesture for example open open your mouth slightly to ZoomIn and bring your face closer to this screens to tap do it two times for double tapthere can be more and Vodafone need only some investment to be the market leader in the facial recognisation screen using

at the minute... its a great tool to show off, but can be fairly buggy depending on the lighting, and positions the phones in, the device must be flat on a table and not moving.

It's a great app. But action click is not working for certain device. e.g. Honor 20. Buttons are not being clicked with my face holding for 20 seconds. update: it turns out that conflicted with other accessibility services. now it works fine.

This is one of it's kind app and idea to exist as an android app. If more improvement done, it can become a legendary app to control the screen with just the help of our eye. If taken help from modern day smartphone cameras cuz they also come with iris unlock, the app can be improved greatly. Its a futuristic app

So surprisingly good. The movement is a little tricky to get down, but with a bit of practice, it makes browsing Instagram all the more lazier. The experimental wink to click is rough, but if it were better at detecting winks, this app would be 6 stars.

This app is amazing, it's very useful and it can be used in many scenarios. Having an option to swipe instead of just click and long click would make this app perfect. The scroll down button somewhat does that, but it would be nice to have such addition if it's possible without root.

I'm really surprised by just how well this works. It's not perfect, but for people who cannot use a touch screen, this could be a game changer. Please continue to develop the wink to click function. Trying to navigate without accidentally pressing on something is totally impractical otherwise.

I feel like this app should have an option to use your hand instead of your face. Using your face is bothersome since you have to look at the screen and move your face at the same time causing some disorientation. Using your hands could be a cool idea for accessibility, make it easier to control clicking with a pinch, and it would be fun to control your phone by not touching it, for if you have wet hands or just because you want to feel like a Jedi using the force.

What a crazy app, basically rubbish. When setting up it suggests you adjust the vertical and horizontal sensitivity. Then it gives you no way to do it. On my Samsung S9+, the default sensitivity is far too low. This means regardless of head movement the cursor won't work correctly. This is a stupid error in the programming. The whole app looks dodgy anyway. Uninstalling. Not Reccomended!!

1) Difficulty with vertical control, especially up. 2) When I look away, the cursor still moves. . . Why? 3) How to best calibrate the cursor/mouse? Should I try to calibrate with the cursor in the middle of the screen? The consistency is challenging Please understand the importance of my ability to use this technology. NOT only would this give me the opportunity to access "the world" from my bed, after my physical assistant has left for the day. If we can work out the kinks in this system so it is efficient for me, I would purchase the full software program
