I've been using the web version, and generaly it's very good for a free service (not a good as mint, but still a good alternative). The app itself is pretty much useless though. Everytime I try to open the transaction or budget pages, the app crashes. So far no updates have fixed this. Will keep checking and will update review/rating when it improves.

It's marginally better than the old Mint, but there are long (multiple days) updates to linked accounts. This is very frustrating. And there is not any way to tell the app to force an accounts update (like swipe-down, or a menu option). Additionally, their support consists of a FAQ page, which is not helpful. There is no way to log a support ticket. After using it for a few months I have lowered my rating. I use Yahoo Finance, which updates linked brokerage accounts very quickly.

It's a good tool to put all of my various accounts together on one screen. The big problem that's causing me to put this down to 2 stars is that there is no way to manually update accounts that won't re-verify in the app. Meaning that my balance information is only accurate on the day that I've added the accounts in. The only way I can think to do this is to delete the account entirely and re-add it. This would be a simple feature to add to this app which would make it much more functional.

Multiple accounts (retirement and credit card) haven't been syncing, and tickets have been out there for months. I get that issues arise, and it may take a couple of weeks to figure out, but if the budget and investment data have holes in them for months, then i dont trust any of it. I'm to the point that this service doesn't meet my needs, and I'll reconsider alternatives.

I switched over to Empower because Mint was shutting down. The experience has been extremely lacking. Some of my accounts/banks cannot connect at all, if Empower can even find them. Others will only show the total of the account but not the transactions. The really annoying thing though, when trying to cancel the account it sends me through a loop to put in my password, type delete in all caps, then confirm, over and over again without ever actually *deleting the account*

This is going to sound cliché but his app used to be great. Syncing was reliable, support was open and responsive, UI was simple and focused. Now (sort of since the Empower takeover) they seem more interested in shoving sales pitches in your face than reliability. Syncing is unreliable, half my accounts don't sync at all anymore and another third I need to enter credentials every time I open the app. They removed the support email for tickets, now it's just a FAQ. Enshittification at its finest.

I would just file a bug if the app had that option, but since it doesn't I'll just put it here publicly - perhaps that'll get it fixed faster. I've been using this for a few months after Mint died. I just noticed that two weeks ago it seems to have missed about two weeks of my transaction data. The account totals are up to date, but the cash flow graphs are all wrong. I've never had a problem like this with other financial apps - what is the point if the data is incomplete?

I agree with others it isn't mint. It does not auto refresh your transactions. It only does it when you open the app. The biggest issue is there is no widget that shows your net worth. You have to open the app every time. And then when you do about 5 or more accounts will need fixed. I would not call this a good alternative to Mint. I am considering moving to credit carma

Doesn't depict accurate networth since the data it shows for the different bank connections are outdated (I would log into my bank account and see a different number than what the app shows for the bank.) Also needs to improve on the refresh ability; right now only some bank accounts show the ability to "refresh transactions" but it shows the wrong amount even after the "refresh."

I've been using this for a few y ars now. I like to use the "Custom" Date range to view the journey so far, and they've made the date picking worse. They've increased the amount of clicks it takes to pick custom dates and the "from" and "through" lines expand, punching the menu items around which is just a jarring UI/UX. Just keep things simple.

Zero support from Dev. Allows me to track my expenses across multiple accounts in one place. Two issues, though: 1st, biometrics (fingerprint) never shows up as a login option even though it's enabled; always asks for my password. 2nd, a credit card linked through an external investment platform shows all the items as "income" or "refund" rather than expense, as a negative expense value, which incorrectly reflects in the budget by reducing the expenses. Zero support response from empower.

As a former mint user, I've been looking for an alternative. This is the closest free app I've found.. but it does have a couple of issues/missing features. 1) you can't put a total for each budget. It just categorizes them but doesn't tell you if you're withing any "budget" 2) no account balance widget..you can see daily transactions but not account balances.

It is alright for most things. However, I was unable to add my home loan company to the app. Also, there are some transactions that have "purchase date" in the description and there is no way to create custom recognition of key words. The description has to be exactly the same every purchase for the app to recognize the purchase which severly limits the category automation.

We switched from Mint. We miss Mint. For over a month, we have had a problem with credits/debits being recorded as the opposite type. This renders all budgeting functions useless. I've submitted 3 service requests, but have not received a response. Additionally, the app is horrible at learning how to categorize transactions. For example, even $20 venmo transactions and recurring internet bills are listed as "mortgage." If you're looking for a Mint alternative, keep looking.

App used to be very good, but not now. Recent update won't open the app anymore. Just constantly shuts down on my Moto when I try to log in. Maybe Android support is being phased out? Update: app is working again (+1) without a new release. That indicates some process wasn't being followed and everything started tanking, but it took days for them to notice/fix. Glad they found the problem eventually, but using a production environment for testing is a very bad idea. Would love to see the RCA.

One week using the app: - Excellent design - Integration features and net worth tracking are fantastic. Now for the bad news: The app is force closing itself whenever I try to open any of the transaction, cash flow, and budget tabs from the side menu. The app is unusable for my needs with this issue. It just shuts off and I have to log back in each time, and it's 100% reproducible. I've emailed Empower, as well as sent a support ticket through Google, but no response or fix as of yet.

Since the 6/27 update, if you update a transaction category, the app crashes. It continuously crashes every time you open it so it's unusable now. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it which got it to stop crashing at first, but as soon as I updated a a category again it crashed. Now even if I uninstall and reinstall it it still keeps crashing.

Edit: the app seems to be working now, so updating my rating. I love the app, but the latest version broke it. As soon as I log in, the app closes. I've tried clearing the cache and data and even restarted my phone. Emailed tech support over the weekend and no reply yet (Wed afternoon). Hopefully they'll get it fixed quickly.

App has stopped working, so I'm changing the review score in hopes that devs notice and fix; I've cleared storage, stopped app, logged back in, still broken! App is generally good for what Personal Capital has set out to do. Comparable to Mint, but it is a little rougher around the edges when it comes to the accounts settings management. For example, I can't hide an account that has been imported twice for some reason.

E: as of July 4, the app is usable again. So it is back to being fine, probably the best free asset tracking app. Unusable. It was a fine app but now it invariably crashes as soon as I login. It's been a persistent issue for over a week now and there has been no change or even recognition of the issue. Will update if it becomes usable again but for now don't waste your time.
