Great courses. Unfortunately, that's not much help. I'm currently running off a slow mobile internet plan, and had been hoping to run though some of the interesting courses edx has to offer. Unfortunately, the fact that you can't adjust video resolution/quality means non-infuriating realtime playback is impossible. This wouldn't be a problem if mobile downloads worked. Unfortunately, any attempt to download just queues the file, never completing it. In this state, the app is simply unusable.

Great for lifelong learning and continuing education in any field! edX is one of my top 3 fav courseware apps for learning something new, especially from scratch. edX courses are also great for keeping your existing knowledge and skills up-to-date with the best instructors from some of the best institutions in the world. There are orientation courses for people completely new to online learning, and you can even create your own personalized learning path based on your own interests and goals.

Just used the app to enroll and begin my first course provided by edx. And just WOW! After perusing the course info, watching the welcome video and taking the pre-course survey I am excited. The app so far seems reliable on my Android phone so lugging around a tablet or notebook/laptop doesn't appear to be necessary at all when on the go. In addition, everything about the app is clean, simple and easy to navigate. Definitely 5*'s

Great service but the all doesn't show up bu 'check mark' what you have and have not completed and you can't change the speed of the videos. I'll probabaly being deleting and just using the windows based service. I wanted to love this app so much but just couldn't. if I missing some freatue please let me know I've googled and checked all around and cant figure out anything to help with my issues.

Good concept, poorly executed. A lot of the courses are presented as powerpoint presentations, this would be alright if each 3-5 sentence slide didn't take nearly 10s to load. Every few slides there is usually a short video which has about a 20% chance of playing, otherwise you can read the transcript which tends to be loaded with grammatical errors(a lot of the text slides weren't much better and I think this program would benefit greatly from having course submissions reviewed by a pro writer)

So far I'm enjoying the range of subjects that are offered. I like that programs are verified, we're able to get real credit for completion, as well as signed certificates. It still shows me results in Spanish even though I set my primary language to English. I haven't gotten any feedback about this. One thing I would like to see is the option to create a "wishlist" or collection of courses I'd like to take. I think this app will continue to get better!

This app has only one very slight improvement over accessing edX through a browser and that is the ability to download videos. But you can't download the exercises from the course (or even do some of them AT ALL in the app), so working offline is pretty much impossible except for videos (and maybe readings?) Since you have to be online AND in a browser for the exercises anyway, there's no significant advantage using the app to access edX courses. Basically this just takes up memory on a phone.

A few pieces of feedback: 1 A bar remains at bottom of videos when offline (downloaded videos for a flight). This covers up the bottom of the video when viewed horizontally, including the bar to change the time of the video. 2. Closed captions are automatically on and couldnt be turned off. They also cover part of the video where notes are being displayed. 3. The overall settings only have wifi and nothing else to address these issues. 4. The submit feedback in the app also pulls up my phone's s

I'm excited to finally relearn Spanish! There's are a few bugs within the Android app: 1. Cannot scroll to view content to the right. 2. Recording isn't working. It's frustrating bc it's not marking the unit complete unless I click within each one, and exit the error msg. It would be helpful to either have it open a browser window to complete or disable the error message (give a don't show me this error again option). Wouldn't buy the course(s) bc of the mobile UX.

The experience in this app is terrible compared to Coursera when it comes to usage with intermittent internet access. You would thing downloading the course for offline use would mean just that. Instead, only videos are downloaded and all supporting material STILL requires internet access. In many instances, it is not even possible to open the app without service. I will be unable to finish as many courses as a result of this.

A feature should be added where you can save courses/programs/degrees that you're interested in, ideally be able to sort them into "collections" if we so choose as well. And once you've completed something you've saved, it should be moved automatically to the bottom of the collection with some sort of way to immediately know it's been completed (like a shadow effect or COMPLETE stamped across the front, etc.)This will directly correlate to me doing more! Thank you

Using their bookkeeping course, the activities are partially hidden at the edge of the screen making it so I can't see the whole activity, and therefore can't actually read the whole question, and sometimes can't see the answers or notes as they trail off past the edge. Other than that major fault the app works well, and I feel like I'm learning what I want to learn

Honestly the app is pretty great for on the go learning, but one issue is a big one. When you've downloaded videos to watch offline and view them full screen there is an "offline" banner that displays at the bottom. This not only covers the playback controls but also part of the video and can't be removed as far as I can tell. This makes it really hard to watch downloaded videos in landscape mode.

This is a really free, useful, educational app I have known. It provides lots of course and programs for anyone to learn. However, about the functions of the app, it seems not to satisfying me that much. It does: - require faster speed of the Internet to view the course - require to check web-based for some content - Not really user friendly in terms of interface and forms, just good enough to use. I give it 4 stars!

So far, i absolutely love the concept. Gives you access to free material, with the option to purchase the certificates, offers full programs, and full degrees. The only thing I have an issue with is the filters lack a few things, such as course length and course type, so you end up having to scroll and click repeatedly if you're looking for specifics in those categories. And there's also no way to save programs to a personal list, so you can't just quickly access them, you have to find them.

The October 11 update made the user experience much worse. Before, there was a list of the available videos from a course module that you could pick from. Now you have to browse left/right until you find the video you are looking for. Also, I can't watch the videos offline anymore, even though I downloaded the videos and the icon changed from a down arrow ("download") to a checkmark ("download completed").

The EdX app remains less than user-friendly and some bugs persist. Course progress is not intuitive on an individual course's menu. Lessons completed are not differentiated from those yet to complete (such as with checkmarks on the Coursera app). All courses, both completed and in-progress, appear on a single courses tab. This is cluttered if you've taken several. Also, course progress isn't always captured when lectures are viewed on the app; I frequently have to redo them on the desktop site.

The concept is great, but the whole app is just buggy and flaky. I've only gone through the "Navigating the app" course, but the controls just flat out don't work. You constantly have to go back and forth to get the next page to load. The exit button to back out of the lesson doesn't work at all, so the only way to pause a lesson is to force close the app. And no matter how many times I've gone through every step of the lesson, I still can't get it to acknowledge that I've completed the lesson.

Virtually unusable in mobile format. I enrolled in three courses as a supplement to my own personal study and each of them have entire sections of each lesson that are unavailable in mobile format. These pages preface that using an internet browser may better functionality but do not preface that the app has limited ability to accommodate the activities provided in each lesson. Furthermore, going from page to page, entire right halves of written text are sometimes unavaible as well.

Very intriguing and no cost to get into a course that you may be interested in "if available" with the option to pay into the course you find for a certificate, college credit, etc. That said this is awesome to at least Download and look through with many courses from multiple colleges and universities. Be sure to read over the course to see how long it lasts, and what you can get if you decided the course is worth paying for.
