This app can continue to stream video and use data when the app is not in focus or your screen is off, quickly draining mobile data. I've reported this to the developer 6 months ago and they said to just manually close the app after it's used. They apparently don't care since it's been 6 months with no fix. Keeps happening to me. No way in app settings to get this to stop.

Geofencing doesn't work well. I have to use api calls to reliably turn on/off home mode (using automagic). Notifications do not always include a picture. Slow to open up (as all synology apps). When an event occurs it takes you at the time of the notification, AFTER the actual motion! This is really the most stupid thing ever.

Edit: dropped two stars as it keeps locking up my Pixel 3 phone! Have to reboot after using the app. Much improved over previous versions, however the latest version 3.1.1-467 has introduced a bug, whereby if you are in multicam mode and select a specific date and time to jump to either using the dot and backarrow button or the search bar, it logs you out. Single camera seems to work fine. Unfortunately they still have not sorted out the occasional freeze up where the phone has to be rebooted. (Pixel 3)

The functionality is the only reason it gets two stars. Works wonderfully... couple bugs but nothing I would be worried about... other than the app being the single biggest draw on my battery. To the point I had to uninstall. I can not, and will not run from charger to charger. All the functionality in the world is no use if your device can't turn on.

Generally good app. Two annoying issues atm. 1) when opening the app via notification, recordings can't be played. 2) notifications are only delivered for the last connected server. When switching servers, you're asked to log out, effectively disabling notifications. I have surveillance systems in different locations, so that's really annoying.

The main problem with the app is the speed of everything, you have to wait a while for it to login to your NAS, even on local network with fast WiFi, the notifications it can send I had to turn off because they sometimes showed a picture, sometimes not, and if you click it you end up taking 10-15 seconds for it to load notifications in the app and it was useless. If this in competition with nest cams or similar it's really not so great. I got a reolink camera which I can connect to in under 3 seconds with their app.

Nice app, could be slicker and faster but works quite well. I wish the back button (from settings) would bring me back to the default screen (with all the cams) before it tries to exit the app. Found a bug: The GeoFence option to activate when connecting to WiFi doesn't save its setting and therefor doesn't work, if it did it would be more accurate than the geo-location.

This app used to be brilliant. A few months ago, something changed. It now takes an absolute age to log in, to the point that whoever may have triggered an intrusion detection has long since left before I'm even able to see the video feed. Snapshots stop appearing after a day if I haven't opened the app. The geofencing used to be flawless, triggering when I came home to deactivate notifications from certain cameras, now, the rules don't work at all and the setting keeps turning itself off.

playback now consistently locks up. when reviewing from multi view a single camera, if I step backwards by events on about the third or fourth event that video just freezes and refuses to play. I need to exit the software. back in the multi view it then even has trouble. I don't know what's going on I'm on the latest versions of surveillance station and new pixel 10. Usability issues like this have me considering alternatives.

Annoying bugs. When reviewing recorded clips it will freeze at the beginning or end of the clip. Usually it recovers but after the 3rd time the app UI stops responding. You can still see the video playing in the background but cannot do anything but force close the app. When opening again I am prompted for my 2FA code. Once inside the cycle begins again. What really sucks is the 2FA Synology provides on their NAS is barely functional. It's common for the code not to be correctly synced with NTP

When I use DDNS to connect my DS, the push service doesn't work well. Also, when I do receive a notification and click on it, the app doesn't proceed to the login screen and instead freezes. Using a relay connection seems to work better, but there are still many bugs in the app. Worth noting im using Galaxy S22 and reolink E1 outdoor.

Would be nice if it could remember the last Synology connected for those of us with multiple. Super annoying to close out and then come back later and it connects to a random other NAS with an alphabetically lower address. Pinch to zoom is also extremely glitchy and frequently does not work. The more I use the app the more frustrating it becomes. Edit: Tried to create a support ticket but it's not possible for the app.

App works just fine. No problems using on LAN or WAN on my Samsung Note-8. Time line no problem when viewing what was recorded. No lag no hesitation no bottlenecking in my opinion flawless. Running 9 IP cameras at their full potential to try and overload my bandwidth yet still app working fine. Plus running many other devices on my network. Many giving poor reviews with app. Not sure why? Other than poor quality networking equipment. App works as advertised. 👍

This app is almost unusable. It logs out and logins and repeats this. Hard to see all the streams at once. Usually you can only see two streams but as soon as you swipe to see more the app starts the routine login/logout. Update: added multiple stream with lower resolution for mobile devices and now I am not seeing any issue on phones so updated to 5 stars. Not sure why this changed since nothing changed on my side but working now.

Edit: after a year of usage the app is still unusable. Login issues still persist. Now we also can't get sound out of half our cameras. At this point it's not just annoying, it's terrifying. We get a random knock at the door at 11pm and end up desperately trying to get the app to work to see if there's an intruder. Nothing like trusting your safety to a broken app.

I like the app, it's quite powerful. It'd be 5 stars if it actually worked. Using the timeline to go back to an event or even to just slide back causes it to freeze. When it does work, it's great. But it more often just freezes the timeline video. Live feed works just fine. This is all happening on a local network with excellent signal strength, so the freezing is not connection related. The timeline worked fine before this latest major update.

Lost PTZ control/button as of a month or so ago. I have not experienced many issues through the years using this app, however, I recently logged in and noticed I no longer have PTZ controls on any of my PTZ cameras that were previously working as expected. **Update after dev response** Thank you for your prompt response, I found it after scrolling on the bottom menu. I would recommend that this button be moved back.(or at least the option to) As I use it often.

If I wait 55 seconds it will finally finish the login process and populate my screen with my cameras. The app works better after loaded than the previous version, but gone are the days of quickly viewing my camera at the front door. It was so slow to login that I thought the app was failing--no it just takes almost a full minute to load. Synology, this unacceptable. You need to fix this!!!

The app works ok. I can see my camera and access recordings. Event notifications arrive quickly. Some of the notifications have full width previews which are great, but not all of them. This might have something to do with the second issue I have. The app constantly has to log in, every time I open the app, it takes a few seconds to log in. My credentials are remembered and the log in is automatic, but I'm thinking that I only get image previews when logged in. Small but annoying issues.

App works ok. Biggest gripe is no real call notification that you can answer showing up when someone rings the doorbell. There is one for the desktop when logged into dsm. But nothing for mobile that i have seen. Just a little small banner notification that someone rang the doorbell at some point that is easily missed if not paying attention. Also would be nice to be able to download clips of recordings from the mobile app without having to go to the desktop. Outside of these it works well.
