you should add the letters like in Duolingo for Russian. I have no idea what I'm looking at and to be more clued in you should just have the characters in a separate space because I'm just picking characters at random and it's a bit odd. I'm learning Persian and it's really confusing. it just swaps to not English and I'm like well if the app only had each character and the sound for that character. it would make it a better learning experience.

Getting a lot of value out of Drops! The design works well for me. Happy to get the premium and switch languages. Gripes(2)- the timer will reset when switching apps; even for very simple short text checking-- of course it's better would be to keep focused, but not practical. Also, I have gotten my streak 'rescued' twice when I went to bed not realizing the app hadn't logged my successful day because it threw a bonus content at me. The Streak needs logged before the bonus. Please FIX!Otherwise 5

After the first 100 words/phrases in a language, the app stops being as useful. There are two main reasons: 1) When phrases are introduced, there is no support to understand each word in the phrase. This means that your success is purely based on your ability to memorize, which is much harder than mixing understanding with memorization. 2) The longer the phrase is, the more likely it won't be read or loud in its entirety. These two things make it a poor choice for people going beyond basics.

It's a good app for vocabulary, but it doesn't teach you anything about sentence structure, grammar, conjugation, etc. all while giving you full sentences to try and remember. I tend to use both Drops and Duolingo to get the best learning experience for myself. Edit: I had an issue where the app would forget I have a lifetime premium membership every time I closed and reopened it. Customer support sent me a new lifetime code promptly and I haven't had issues since. Great customer service!

With a year long streak under my belt, I can confidently say that I wouldn't recommend this app. It's alright if you're an absolute beginner looking to learn some basic vocabulary. Once you get into more intermediate territory, whole phrases are thrown at you with no explanation of the sentence structure - just "memorize this sentence". In addition, once you accumulate a decent amount of words that you've learned, you rotate through A LOT more terms and you weaken a lot with the essentials.

Update: thank you for your response! I have been able to log in with google tempotarily to keep streak, but still no full access . I look forward to full resolution soon. This is an OUTSTANDING language learning app, but DO NOT use Facebook as a log in, whatever login you use the first time becomes your forever login, if something goes wrong, it's "Sol". I have been disconnected from my lifetime membership and can't get reconnected because of technical issues with Facebook. I wish to quit FB.

The app has used streak saves even though I practiced during the days it says that I missed. Luckily I have more than one streak save. I'm losing interest in the app but I paid for a full membership so I'll keep up with it so it's not a loss. I'll just focus on vocabulary review instead of keeping a daily streak since it doesn't accurately reflect missed days and practiced days anymore.

I appreciate how interactive and fun it is to pick up new vocabulary words and how they have the audio associated with it. it's a good way to train your eyes and ears when learning a new language! I think that the time limits are relatively fair as well, with time increasing the larger of a streak you grow. But I wish that some of the categories weren't blocked by a pay wall.

App excels at providing native pronunciation of words and phrases. Not designed, however, to help with grammar. App only gets a 4 because the timer freezes multiple times in the middle of a lesson. Not the worst thing in the world, but a little frustrating. If developers straighten that out, I'll uprate. It's a 4.5 without the glitch. The missing 0.5 is because some the pictures that are used are not realistic or helpful.

I've been using it mainly for Korean. I have the same complaint where the app would throw a insanely long sentence at supposedly beginner level unit. The second point is more neat picky, but you can tell the basic units are based upon English/western context. For example, there would be no Korean food or dishes outside the few Korean dishes unit. The regular food categories are all western/American food. Those words would be konglish anyway so they ain't that helpful.

2024: Want to subscribe but am hesitant that 1.Drop will block me out of my account and lose my progress again. 2.Looks like I'd lose the 5m reminder, which is one of the two most important things I like about Drop. 2023: After using Drop for a year, Drop locked me out of app by "error, duplicate email", lost all my progress. 2022: This app makes vocabulary learning addicting. It cultivates to how memorization works and you can learn brainlessly for five minutes everyday.

Drops is the rare modern language app that knows its niche and leans into it, rather than sacrificing functionality for profit-making or unrealistic promises of fast and easy fluency - which is why it's the only language app that I *do* have a subscription for. If you're disillusioned with recent decisions made by Memrise and Duolingo, give Drops a try.

This app doesnt go in depth with teaching you everything, it is great for the vocab. I use this to support my vocab while using another app for learning grammar! That is not why I give it a one star. I give it a 1 ⭐ cuz every time I leave the app and then reopen it it wont allow me to access the premium even though I bought lifetime premium. I tried logging out multiple times Ive deleted the app and reinstalled it 3 times Ive tried using the restore purchase button to no avail! I want a refund!!

I was surprised to realise i hadn't already rated drops, I've been a full user for years and have literally sold other premium subscriptions of this app to family and friends. When you are already learning the game of a language elsewhere this app is absolutely perfect for flashing out your vocabulary. Also has sections with convenient phrases if you're traveling and need that kind of specific targeting

Pretty good flashcard style vocabulary app. Initially the new words have several games that are fun and challenging, but after a few times of use, the app exclusively uses flashcard style challenges. There are a few phrases within the learning, but the spoken version of the phrase is spoken within the same 2 secs as a single word. The primary reason I continue using this app is that it's one of maybe 5 apps to choose from that have my target language. There are better apps for common languages

If getting a lot of words learned in your chosen language is a goal, then Drops can definitely help. I have been using Drops for a couple of years and it has really helped me develop my vocabulary. It is not a grammar, learn to conjugate verbs type of program. It helps you learn a lot of different words in a variety of categories. It requires a minimum of time and effort for positive results. It is very convenient and has helped me develop a good habit of learning.

overall a good app. but the app needs serious work actually reflecting what the users want to see. Apparently giving feedback results in nothing through the app, despite what developers put in their replies. If someone asks for no writing assist, they should not be getting them in the daily sets. And it's consistent with mine. Further, the main bug is finishing a topic and it resets your time for the day without you choosing to find a new topic.

Jury is still out on this one. I like how it uses pictures with the words, but I don't like how hard it was to sign up without subscribing. I eventually got through to the free option, but they were pushing premium so hard that I was on my way here to complain about the app description not warning me this was paid-only until I clicked an X in the corner of the subscription page and suddenly I was in a lesson.

After using this app for nearly a year (tagalog specifically), I figured I would update my review even though not much has particularly changed. My initial thoughts are still the same, and this is a great flashcard style way of learning the language and the pronunciation. Accuracy is good with the translation and pronunciation being about 98% accurate. The pics get updated sometimes and honestly, I'm happy I went premium.

I'm using this for German, and eventually bought the premium version. It is a great companion learning tool to a class/app where you would learn grammer. This app is all focused on teaching vocab, and it does that really well. Since I originally got the app, they've introduced a lot of new features. They've also fixed some bugs that you may see mentioned in other comments. I'm currently at an A1/A2 level, so some of the phrases are different than how I've been taught thus far.
