More About DiskDigger photo recovery

DiskDigger can undelete and recover lost photos, images, or videos from your internal memory or external memory card. Whether you accidentally deleted a photo, or even reformatted your memory card, DiskDigger's powerful data recovery features can find your lost pictures and videos, and let you restore them.
You can upload your recovered files directly to Google Drive, Dropbox, or send them via email. The app also allows you to save the files to a different local folder on your device.

Note: DiskDigger requires the "Access all files" permission on your device, to be able to search all locations on the device for lost and recoverable photos. When you are asked for this permission, please enable it so that DiskDigger can search your device most effectively.

* If your device is not rooted, the app will perform a "limited" scan for your deleted photos or videos by searching your cache and thumbnails.

* If your device is rooted, the app will search all of your device's memory for any trace of photos, as well as videos!

* After the scan is complete, tap the "Clean up" button to permanently delete any items that you no longer need (currently an experimental feature, available only in the Basic Scan).

* You can also use the "Wipe free space" option to erase the remaining free space on your device, so that any deleted files can no longer be recoverable.

For complete instructions, please see http://diskdigger.org/android

If you need to recover more types of files besides photos and videos, try DiskDigger Pro!

I have two reviews: It's good if you just buy the phone and accidentally deleted the data, it's bad if you already had the phone for a really long time and had numerous data deleted. I'd say i love it, only if they had this folder for each sect. It's confusing when you forgot which when you accidentally deleted for about 1.500 while the scanned photo showed up literally EVERYTHING, even the photos that aren't got deleted and the tumbnails. Please, fix this. I'd give another feedback. Thanks!

This app saved literally thousands of precious memories for me when I accidentally deleted many photos, so I can't give anything less than 5 stars. Most of the photos were small and low quality because my phone is not rooted, but it's better than nothing. I had to spend hours scrolling through many duplicates of recovered photos to save them all. However, in the end, this app was able to recover my photos when no other app could, and for free.

Looking to recover some images I'd accidentally deleted, including from the recycle bin, I was thrilled to find this app claiming the ability to recover deleted files. It managed to locate nearly 2000 images on my phone that it could "recover". Sadly where I take "recover" to mean that it can get back, retrieve, undelete, rescue etc. files deleted in error the developers seem to think it means to display all the image files that haven't been deleted. I already have Gallery to show me those. 🤦‍

Genuine review, it really can recover photos and videos. But ofc, not all can be found. It still good though, I lost all the photos needed for my coursework & using this app, I can restore at least half of the photo & videos that I needed. But we can't download a lot of photos / videos in a time. We have to download it one by one which is kinda troublesome, but I guess that's something that can be improved. And by this performance at least, I can say that it really can do its job.

Well, I was very disappointed to discover that I could only recover my photos as thumbnails. I was surprised that this is the case even for the premium app unless I "root" my phone, and I am definitely not adept enough to chance that route. I will no longer depend on transferring photos to the SD card in my phone, which is how I lost them. Thankfully I have posted a few faves to FB over the last few months, and emailed others. Lesson: don't store all your eggs in one basket!

Not perfect but managed to retrieve a few memories with it. A couple of things that could be made better. The min file size should be more intuitive & by the time you get a chance to toggle the settings the scan has already found hundreds of images. Sort by size isn't much help either. I know my photos are upwards of 2gb, but it only finds a handful of them. A sort by date would be extremely helpful. It's also turning up duplicates & a lot of them & even with the thumbnail view set to large, it's hard to see what is actually being found. When you do retrieve them, it's a bit of a hunt to find where they are saved & none of them are zoomable any more.

I would rate 5*s but I haven't used the app to it's fullest. I deleted an image by mistake and was trying all sorts of advertised 4*s and higher recovery apps. None of them actually worked, so I found DiskDigger and it worked like a charm. I found my image and it was recovered very quickly. I haven't tried recovering anything other than pictures, so I can't review in full BUT if you need to recover a picture this is your best bet!

Was sceptical at first cause downloaded a higher rated app and it was a fake. it showed pictures that were never on my phone. This app works on recovering pictures forsure. keep in mind that i only recovered pictures and not videos so not sure if that works and was within 12 hours of accidentally deleting so there was no data overwrite, but it showed pictures that were deleted over the past year so don't think it would have been an issue. overall I highly recommend.

Overall, It's a great app. It functions EXACTLY as advertised. This app didn't disappoint me like so many of the other similar apps that failed to perform as it had falsely advertised. It does EXACTLY what is advertised and it's easy to operate & understand. I personally recommend this app if your hoping to recover photographs that were deleted.. or... discovering any images that once existed on your device in the past.. photos you weren't even aware of... perhaps secret photos that were erased.

waste of time - showed every photo/oict on my phone regardless of whether or not it was deleted. I found the few i was looking for but it refused to say them unless I upgraded to the pro version, very bait and switch. all of the positive reviews read the same and that should have been my first clue. save your time and money this isn't as advertised

It used to be good until now. It scans all the photos I already have on my phone. Not any of the deleted or displaced ones. It's able to find a blurry photo from last year but cant find one from yesterday. Whatever changed on this app pisses me off and it sucks that it's not like it used to be, when I can just scan and find recent deleted/removed photos.

I deleted all photos from google photo app but it deleted them from my device too. The basic scan (not rooted) function on this app found several if not all of my deleted pics. My camera is low quality anyway so I didn't notice a difference in quality. All photos were full size once I opened them. The app saves pics to your drive, then I downloaded them to file manager for easy access. Lots of duplicates and also non-deleted pics, but I am praising God for leading me to this app. Thank you!

Thank you for saving my photos! I did a dumb thing and hadn't backed up my photos for many months. I don't trust the cloud so they aren't automatically backed up. Went to delete an unneeded photo and accidentally started deleting entire photo folder...cancelled it but not until 700 plus photos of my son and various memories were gone. Found a website that mentioned this app and was used it almost immediately after the catastrophe and recovered my pics. Out of order but that's ok. Whew!

I tried 5 other photo recovery apps before trying this one. It worked very well for me. It only showed the photos I deleted; I selected the ones I wanted to recover; I clicked the "Recover" button; it gave clear instructions that I had to choose the location on my phone to place the recovered photos; it listed the various locations on my photo; I selected the local wanted; pressed "ok"; and within one minute, it used my notification chime to tell me the photos I wanted recovered; all there!!!!!!

I got a 64GB Micro SD card to save 800+ photos since I broke my old phone that morning (10/23/18). After I got the new phone and transferred pics I accidently hit Format instead of eject (I was playing around with it at this point). Lost all my photos and stayed up into my birthday which was the next day stressed out. Today I heard about this app and gave it a shot. It recovered the files I lost and then some (1.2K). Sadly the quality isn't as good and videos didn't get restored, only thumbnailed. Either way this is way Better than nothing at all. 5 star definetly recommend!

I accidentally deleted a whole folder of camera pics, thought with this app I could get them back. after a lengthy scan, it shows hundreds of deleted pics but I could only recover a tiny thumbnail of the pics!! totally not useful, and a HUGE waste of time, since many duplicates of each photo exist, making the scan results a horribly huge list to scroll thru. Then only to find I can't truly recover actual pics! so sad!! I found the only true way to recover is with computer software thru USB

It works exactly how it's supposed to. I find it actually kind of scary how much stuff is stored on your phone going back months, so good thing for this app to help clean it up. That being said, the interface is extremely frustrating to use. I feel there shouldn't have to be two tabs, one for recovering and one for deleting. It's very frustrating to have to go through all of those files AGAIN just to find which ones to delete. Good app otherwise.

this is seriously a life saver. I deleted an entire album of like 900 pictures and spent half a day trying to find them, I had to computer, no backup, no cloud. I downloaded this app and it retrieved all my deleted pictures, even the ones from weeks ago. I dont know if this works differently on different phones but it worked for me (samsung)and it was free and no adds. it's also very fast.

Sadly, the functionality of this App. is disappointing, 'cause much higher quality would be expected, considering they're based in the U.S. The user's controls are extremely limited. It scans and finds EVERY SINGLE PICTURE in your device, so there's no practical way of knowing the difference between deleted photos from those still in your gallery, and if you use the recovery feature, you inevitably end up with duplicates. Now, if you only get 5 or 10 duplicates that's not a big deal, but...

I got my pics back! However, I only wanted to retrieve my photos. Many of them are now distorted looking. My original folders ended up getting wiped out and I never even touched those. It took a minute to understand how it works. This app shows every single thing with a pic, like Spotify album covers, book covers, things unrelated that I've never seen in my life! It's so annoying to see a bunch of pics that weren't mine. It's very, very time consuming too.
