I really find this dictionary amazing. With its accurate translations it's definitely one of the best. However, it's got a big shortcoming when it comes to idiomatic expressions. In many cases when you look up a phrase, a proverb, an idiom or an expression, it shows the meaning of its components separately, although the combination has a different meaning as idioms and expressions mostly do and that is what exactly learners look for. I hope the developers can find a way to solve the problem.

Very nice app. I like the pop-up feature after copying a word. External sources are very useful. The only problems I encountered were downloading offline dictionaries and the history. It just shows downloading and doesn't seem to progress and the history section is empty all all the time, no matter what I search.

Superb app. No other substitute for it, frankly, if, for example, you're studying Russian and need to know imperfective and perfective forms in a snap or oddball feminine or masculine nouns. Also gives a sentence for each and every word plus references to internet found examples from travel sites to U.N. transcripts, et. al. Oh and did I mention it links to Google translate? Superb.

This is by far the most functional and helpful German-English dictionary I have ever used in my 28 years of study of German. I read a half hour a day in German to strengthen my language skills, always with Linguee at my side, and I recommend this app and web site to my German students. The clincher is, every time I copy a word to the clipboard in any app on my smartphone, Linguee offers translations that pop up briefly at the top of the screen. I can't say enough good about this product, because it far exceeds my expectations.

Promising app if it worked. Very buggy. The offline translation which what attracted me to it works about 20 percent of the time. I have not figured out why sometimes it works while other times it doesn't. I have the dictionaries downloaded, setting set up to off-line and online..erased the app. Uploaded it.. on and on and it still does not work properly..come on guys get with it...

Extraordinary tool for professional interpreters. Vast selection of context-appropriate examples available. I especially appreciate the downloadable dictionaries for when fast Internet connections aren't available but rapid rendering is required. The auto-paste at open feature is a great timesaver as well. Simply copy the word you want to translate and open the app, the copied content will autofill in the search bar, saving valuable seconds. An invaluable tool w/ an intuitive interface

This app is very good. I use it to assist me with learning German. The list of words is extensive and includes many of the different meanings and examples that each German word may have. I also have the dictionary loaded on my phone for situations when I don't have a cellular signal or Wi-Fi. There are no annoying ads with this app either. I love it!

This could be the best dictionary with a few additions. If they added conjugations for all the verbs and allowed for personal additions to the dictionary it would be amazing. I'm puzzled by why the definition for haber in the Spanish dictionary does not indicate that it is a verb . They should fix the bug that causes the app to freeze every time I try to access history. Now I've installed it on Android 10 and the best feature of the dictionary no longer works: pop up translations

Amazing! another one of the best apps I've seen and used from the app store. The example phrases it offers when you search a word are incredibly helpful! I can see this app helping so many. People who travel, people in international business scenarios, the list is endless. This app is truly indispensable. Thank you for the obvious love and care put into it

I use it every day now that I have moved to Portugal and especially appreciate that it allows you to select European or Brazilian pronunciation. However, I give it only 4 stars because of one really annoying design decision. If anyone from Linguee reads this: REMOVE THE LANGUAGE SELECTION DROPDOWN NEXT TO THE "x" BUTTON IN THE SEARCH BAR. Like me, an English speaker trying to learn Portuguese, the vast majority of your users are surely only going between two languages. The top item in the menu is already "Select Language" so I'd argue that the extra dropdown to the right of the search bar is redundant. It is so frustrating to keep getting the language selection overlay when I just want to clear the previous search.

Linguee did a great job on this translation dictionary app. It is very useful, to include the examples of translations in context. Sometimes the highlights are off, but most are good. The offline dictionaries are a real bonus. If you'd like feedback to improve the product, I recommend you add a feedback button so when people see something incorrect they can tap it and note how to fix it. I'm giving 5 stars to thank Linguee for a great product! Keep up the good work! You're helping people. :)

One of the best German-English dictionaries I've used. It's quick, has a clean, responsive interface, and has a great selection in its lexicon. I love the comparative usages pulled from online. Real-world examples are a great help. The offline dictionaries are functional and readily support SD cards. The only improvement I can imagine would be to include conjugations and delineations.

Outstanding service with a great, ad-free app. With that said, it's not optimized for modern aspect ratios - my phone is 18.5:9 and I have a black bar at the bottom of the home screen. Also, the main menu should not keep prompting me to show translations in other apps. I don't want to; I open Linguee when I need it. A dark theme would be very welcome as well.

Great dictionary, love the translation popup when you copy text to your clipboard in other apps. Makes it super quick to read the news in my second language. Only qualm: the history fills up fast and crashes when I open it. There should be a limit on the number of entries in there. It would also be great if you could add a way to export history, would make a great way to create vocabulary lists. Thanks! ♡

I have only had the app for a few weeks, but I have found it quite handy. I particularly like that the dictionary gives many examples in excerpts from parallel texts in the two languages involved in the translation. I also like that the dictionaries can be downloaded for offline use. I am having some trouble getting G-board's glide-typing feature to work in the app, though. Also, it would be nice to see more languages available. But, in what it does have, the app does well. It is quite good.

I've mostly only used the French dictionary for this app since I dabble in studying the language from time to time. I really like that it provides a pronunciation for a good number of words and that it has an offline option (as a separate download). My only critique is the UI; I feel that it could be less bland and maybe just a tad more intuitive; something akin to SpanishDict (a great Spanish dictionary). A dark mode would be fantastic as well. Other than that, it's a solid French dictionary.

I like the attached example sentences for each word to get a feel of the context. An excellent resource for those who need more information! Even years later, this app is what I need when not sure of meanings that have multiple uses! 7/2021: This app continues to surpass Google translate in real world examples for contest. A definite recommendation for intermediate and advanced students. The highlight then copy brings up nice translations with more than one translation. Overall a great app.

It's really amazing except for:. It's the only app I've ever seen that has no microphone ability to do voice to text or when swiping!!! This puts it way down on my usefulness scale. You have to literally type each word one letter at a time. And if you don't type in every apostrophe in contracted words, nothing will come up as a suggestion. Brutally inefficient

For people with intermediate Portuguese-English language needs, the *online* dictionaries are good enough. (But see below.) The audio interface is very good at capturing Portuguese words, better than my Android phone's capability. And it's free. It's a major problem, however, that the online access keeps crashing and the app reverts to its very basic offline dictionaries. Others have noted the same thing.

As a dictionary, this is wonderful. It has what I would describe as a crisp interface, very well designed, comprehensive with simplicity. Its search engine is quite advanced and its layout is clean and uncluttered. Very nice. If you're looking for audio for pronunciation, this app doesn't contain that, but like I said, as a dictionary it is the best. It also contains a sentence analyzer that is also quite advanced. It has become my go-to dictionary app for Russian.
