Permissions:
This app uses Accessibility Services API. It uses the BIND_ACCESSIBILITY_SERVICE permission to get the list of installed app in the device and to select/unselect the app(s) to add in Blacklist/Whitelists. Accessibility Services API is the only way to detect which other app is being opened/used in real time, it allows the Detoxify app to compare the apps from blacklist created by the user and prevents opening the other apps if those app(s) are in the Blacklist.
VPN Service Usage:
This app uses the VPN service to blacklist / whitelist the web domain on the device. This service allows users to control their access to certain websites they want to restrict themselves from visiting. The service can be enabled / disabled using the single click of a button.
This app uses the system alert window permission (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) to lock apps that the user nominates as troublesome.

I've been looking for a filter app that doesn't rely on having somebody else know the password or pin and it's been very hard to find. Detoxify fits that bill by having the option to randomize the pin if you are trying to set a filter on your own device so you can't just bypass it whenever. It's been a very helpful app, and amazingly comprehensive. First thing I did was try everything I could think of to outsmart the filter, gotta hand it to the developers, they had already thought of the bypasses. Definitely worth the $50/year to help protect myself and live a porn-free life.

This is a great app, very helpful! I'm grateful for the developers for their support and prompt email responses. I wish this app was around when I was growing up/ going to college. But there's a great quote by C.S. Lewis, "You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending." Thanks for helping me change the ending. I have tried nearly every alternative available on the market, and this is by far the best app I've come across. No app is perfect when it comes to filtering out all the garbage online, but Detoxify has minimal bugs, loopholes, etc. I'd highly recommend this app for any man or woman looking for greater accountability and protection, particularly when trying to establishing better habits, a more positive state of mind, and less wasted time, and guilt from all the temptations that are online.

Detoxify is a wonderful app that has helped me already. It's inexpensive to subscribe to $5 a month, and it also can work along with recovery programs. It also allows your spouse (or parents) to set up a pin so that the person in question cannot tamper with the app, and it also features an accountability partner feature that messages them when you enter certain apps. Again, this is great!

Great app! Not only does it work as advertised, my experience with customer service was both pleasant, prompt, and helpful. It runs simultaneosly with my Antivirus VPN, which was a huge concern for me. At the end of the trial I was already happy to subcribe and even happier that the first month was refunded. The only thing i would change is making it available on PC, everything else they've covered. I highly reccomend this app to anyone looking to regain control of their life.

Phenomenal app, it's virtually impossible to relapse. Hands down best porn blocker on the market. nothing even comes remotely close, it's a landslide. I would love to see an accountability feature where a buddy can remotely set your pin for you, and decide if the app can be deactivated. Besides that 5 stars accross the board. easy, simple, and most importantly of all effective. This app is truely life changing.

This app has been great so far (first week in). My favorite tool is the 'panic button' & the ability to set a pin to to protect from turning the blocker off immediately which gives me some buffer time to think about my decision if I ever try to turn it off. I find myself using the panic button often whenever I have an inkling of a thought for a website in order to turn off my phone access for however many minutes I need. It subconsciously gives my mind no other options so it get's back on focus and lets any urges pass. Originally chose it for it's nice logo & kept it since the interface was simple and clean. Plus, the subscription was reasonable for a full year's protection and investment to take quitting for good more seriously. + Your messaging and intention seem to be in good heart Family first, thank you guys. -Alex

I am a new user of this app (it's been only 7 days so far) and I'm already seeing the results. App is well designed. User Interface is very good simple to use. If you have some kind of self control, you can choose basic mode and if you don't have any self control then you can go with aggressive mode which I find very helpful and effective. Habits are easy to form but very hard to break but with this kind of help, people can get a grip on bad habits. Big thanks to the devoplers of this app.

Very effective app for shutting out any trace of porn from your devices. Easy to set up and use, and the desktop version works well on my Windows 10 laptop, too. I highly recommend setting a randomized PIN and giving it to a trusted accountability partner whom you communicate with regularly. I know from experience how easy it is to circumvent these blockers otherwise, but the lock-and-key approach works quite well. I greatly appreciated the 2 month bonus I got when I purchased a year's worth of coverage. Also, the Thrive function is useful for me to shut out my phone as a source of distraction when I'm trying to focus on work or some other task.

I've tried multiple times in the past to give up porn on my own. Clearly, it didn't work. So a friend of mine suggested porn blockers. I tried a bunch different ones, but this one is impressive. My phone was always the issue when it comes to porn. So it's great to have a porn blocker without completely giving up my phone or having to uninstall internet browsers. And I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it filters content. It's not perfect but it works. Haven't looked up even a single shred of sexual content since I got it. I look forward to see how far the developers take this app.

I've tried a few different blocking apps and this is by far the best one yet! I love the panic and thrive options to help reinforce positive behaviors that can distract you from negative habits. I also like the ability to randomize a passcode. The customer service team is excellent! They respond to email inquiries in a timely manner, help resolve issues quickly, and explain common issues in a way you can understand. The ability to download the app on multiple devices is amazing. This is probably the best web filter I've found to specifically block pornography. The app doesn't take much space or battery power consumption, and it is extremely intuitive and easy to use. The best feature of the app is that it allows you to assign a random pin, effectively preventing you from being able to uninstall it when the urges are particularly bad. My only, tiny gripe is that the three day trial seems too short. Anyone familiar with a reboot knows it take at least seven days to feel a noticeable difference in mental clarity and energy. However, the upgrade only costs 5 dollars a month and Pete (who is super responsive!) gives you a chance to get that first month refunded :) If you are anything like me and have been (unsuccessfully) trying to quit porn off of sheer willpower, and are considering external resources, this a great place to start.

Blacklist very handy. I've been using detoxify for several months now. It was a bit of a rough start working through connection problems and various settings, but with a little effort it does its job. It can block apps you have downloaded and websites that you add to the blacklist, and any adjustment to your settings requires a pin that you set up with someone else so you can't be wishy-washy. It's helped me a lot since I downloaded it.

The features of this app are exactly what I was looking for, but unfortunately it just doesn't work. It's super glitchy, with the block pop-up screen coming up for allowed apps and even just logging into the phone. The bigger problem is two middle schoolers found different ways around this app. Customer service was responsive and gave me several suggestions, that didn't help, before their final suggestion was one that would have made the phone pretty unusable. Moving into something else.

An absolutely amazing app. I've been able to resist the temptation when I can see it building up, but when it comes up suddenly I struggle with resisting 'in the moment'. I loved that while I was stuck 'in the moment' during the free trial I actually had the time I needed to change my thinking when I couldn't access any of the sites. When the free trial ended, unfortunately so did my streak— which goes to show how effective the app is. Just started monthly payments, so here goes!

The app itself is amazing. It's simple and straight to the point. I personally am not a big fan of gamification as it just keeps me on my phone more, but this app doesn't have anything other than a streak counter. However, after only about a month of using the app, the bandwidth has severely dropped to the point where it's impossible to even do a simple Google search or send a DM to someone. Great app, but it becomes unusable with the bandwidth problems.

Does exactly what its supposed to without slowing down the device or getting in the way of anything it isn't supposed to. The dashboard is simple and intuitive, the programming is sound (no glitches yet. I'll update if I find any) and the service is 100% worth the money. You can set a pin within the app itself to prevent uninstalling or filter lever rating, so my husband set my pin and I set his. This app DOES NOT require a accountability Partner to work, but one can be added if desired.

Works fine for a while with blocking port websites. But three days in it started making it so that apps like YouTube and Chrome couldn't even launch. I was only able to use them again when I disabled the app. Also the buddy program didn't even function. I gave the app my friends email so that he would have to be the one to turn off the app if I tried to unsubscribe and it didn't even contact him.

This app is incredible. It's the ONLY Blocker I've found that has closed up the loopholes I knew from other apps, and they seem to consistently update patches. One issue was maintenance mode being able to get through, but this app allows you to block the categories where it is found and now the loophole is closed. VPNs and alternative browsers don't worn either, whatever connects to the internet won't go unscathed!!! The windows version is bad with loopholes though, so look elsewhere.

I've used this app for about three years for general phone and social media addiction. I was considering a dumb phone because no other productivity app prevents u from uninstalling whenever you want like this one does. However, there are no timers or schedules so once you block an app, you can't use it t anymore. If you struggle to put your phone down and need total accountability, this is a game changer. If anything seems like it's not working right, the support email is very responsive too.
