More About Dead Shell・Roguelike Crawler

9 \ 10 "If you enjoy dark sci-fi themes and like a challenging RPG with some roguelike elements, then look no further than Dead Shell.” / Christine Chan, appadvice.com
Dead Shell is an addictive pixel style RPG with roguelike elements and clicker games. Here, you have to shoot your way out of hordes of monsters, traveling through unique and randomly generated labyrinths, get loot and upgrade mercenaries and weapons.

Blaster-wielding mercenaries vs beasts from the labyrinth: who will win? You're commanding a die-hard assault squad. Destination: Plutonia, a settlement on a Doom-4 class planet. Shuttle cargo: a range of lethal weapons, from axes and chainsaws to blasters and BFGs. Anything might come in handy in Plutonia, the Federation's most remote colony.

Scientists, miners, guards – all sorts of civilian personnel worked there until recently. A week ago, the Center received a mayday signal from the settlement. Demonic roars and screams of terror filled the comm channel, and then it fell dead silent.

It's time to descend into the infernal abyss and show the demons who's the boss here. Fight your way through all the circles of hell to reach the very bottom. Look cosmic evil in the face and emerge victorious.

Game Features:

- Random level generation: everything from locations and monsters to loot is generated during the game. Every time a new dungeon!
- Infernal menagerie: hordes of alien diabolical creatures that are eager to kill you in a special sophisticated way. Get experience points for every creature you kill!
- Huge arsenal of weapons: from axes and chainsaws to blasters and BFGs. Change weapons during the battle, collect ammo and improve combat performance!
- Elite mercenaries: each has unique skills, prefers a certain type of weapon. Raise the rank of characters and create an invincible squad!
- Gameplay in the Roguelike genre and Pixel Art graphics, traditional components of the RPG genre, such as character upgrade and exploring the world around them, will never let you feel bored!

This is possibly one of the best survival horror mobile games I've ever played. It seems like a cross between resident evil, DOOM, and Aliens. It's got pop culture references I appreciate, it's not littered with ads every single time I complete a level, Hell I don't even think you need Wi Fi to play it. If that's the case, I may have found my new favorite mobile game. A game that has pop culture references, little to no ads in sight, and offline gameplay. Keep us the good work!

Fun game to spend some time on and been playing quite a long time. But I got to stop as I'm wasting the premium currency, DNA, since the last update has you now sometimes repair the ship before you can send it out to get better weapons. Was hard enough to get DNA to use to send the ship looking for the top-tier weapons, but now it takes nearly 1/5 of what I need for that in order to repair the ship. Bad enough for all the time I've been playing and am still missing 3 of the characters.

One of my favorite games to play when stuck waiting on stuff. Simple to play but can get a bit strategic on later levels with all the monster skills to keep in mind when picking who to send, which enemy to prioritize and when to use abilities. Microtransactions are a thing as you'd expect, but aren't required to make progess like a lot of mobile games I've played.

Has potential, but one-way linear difficulty pregression. Eventually (around level 20-30) you'll hit a wall where it's pretty much impossible to progress, or even keep playing. There's no starting back on level 1 or generating a new dungeon. Just one long linear dungeon, every time you beat one floor, you go to the next one down. You stay on that one till you beat it. Oh, and you'll run out of ammo, another mechanic making it impossible to progress without paying.

Great game, but health pickups really need to scale with progression. An in game manual explaining everything like why some monster numbers are red sometimes would be really helpful. 2024 update: I don't remember the game having so many ads and bundles of things to buy before but it was enough to make me stop playing. Could be a fun game if ammo wasn't so scarce that you have to watch an ad every time you run out for a few more rounds in the chamber. Great game but it is a money funnel now.

There's a lot of ads which is fine when you're getting something out of it. That's a smart move if I'm being completely fair and real about the world. The reason for the one star is because it gave me a full screen ad with no benefit and without my full consent and I uninstalled immediately after. You're already making money by giving me an option to watch ads, but to put the ad in my face without my input is a design choice and I won't be playing your game any more under those practices.

Fun, but it's disturbing that we can't use earned credits to buy ammo. This fact slows down gameplay, which then makes *this* game lack competition against other games. Can't do much with 10 bullets and 10 shells. I'm not going to spend real money on digital ammo. Not a chance. 3 stars in hopes that an update will allow longevity of the gameplay. Because at some point, if I can't play because of lack of ammo, I'm uninstalling this game. Again. I remember now why I uninstalled it the first time.

Pros: -Great visuals -Great sound effects -Seemingly a lot of content (but I think you're expected to pay a lot of real money to experience it in a realistic timeframe) Cons: -Not a roguelike like the name suggests -Monetized to an absurd degree -Like seriously, they seem to want me to pay real money or watch hours worth of ads for the privelege of keeping my weapons loaded with ammo. Absolutely can't recommend. Which is a shame because I think there is a lot of potential.

2 stars for what I think is the worst game function ever besides energy, you get a cool down timer when you die, basically forcing the player to NOT play the game. AND it's not just this game your other games have this idiotic function. Imagine playing basketball or football and your team gets a timeout because you didn't score, results no more sports. Developer said "try out other games" you set them up the same way numbskull.

Phenomenal top down RPG action with Classic Doom Art style. Only thing that holds it back is that it is very easy to run out of ammo, forcing the player to wait for supply drops in hopes that any comes up. I believe that a dedicated Ammo Drop support system would remedy this issue. Perhaps some sort of Daily Package that at only gives ammo, or even making the default pistol have infinite ammo? This way players still need to conserve ammo for more potent weapons like the shotgun.

I don't mind watching ads to make progession faster or for extra rewards. But with ammo being so limited you have to watch ads every few seconds just to play. Played for 90 mins, half that was ads, and already hit a wall where you can't progress without spending money for ammo. I like the idea, game seems fun, but absolutely pay-to-play.

The game is cool has a lot that I like but it absolutely does not want you to do well. it wants you to lose so that you are tempted to spend money on it's micro transactions to keep from losing. there's no way to farm the basic currency so you can level up your units. I have plenty of xp for each of my units but nowhere near the amount of gold to upgrade them same with the weapons. you can't go back to easier levels. Ammo for your guns is incredibly hard to find. but you can absolutely buy it!

Really shallow money grab. No real strategy, and you get to a point quickly where you just don't have ammo, but it's ok watch an ad (for a handful of bullets). Health running low, watch an ad. Or just start throwing money at it. Graphics are cool retro vibes and I like the music. But it's a game to attract whales and drain their accounts or make the user the worker to increase their ad revenue.

The UX in this kinda sucks. It's not very good at explaining unlocks or upgrades... You end up tapping through stuff just to move past it. E.X. I unlocked the drone and the game had me tap through three options but I had no idea what they were or why I was tapping it. Also, game hard locked on me when I got to try a new character the first time then penalized me by removing access to said character b/c I had to reload the game... Maybe wait for some updates before playing this.

Pretty fun, really like the graphics because I'm a sucker for sprite-based/pixel games. However, I'm docking two stars because of how it's clearly balanced around you paying real money for ammo because of how scarce the free amounts are. Unless you pay, it's VERY easy to run out mid-mission, and then you just die because you take so long to kill anything with melee.

Gameplay is fun, but they do not give you enough resources for a free to play. Every mission you will watch an almost minute long ad, and if you want additional rewards, another minute ad on top of that. You will do about 2 ads per 3 minutes of gameplay for free players. Only got to mission 9 before I ran out of ammo and literally couldn't continue. That was with all the ad watching as well.

Cool game but practically unplayable for me. When you run out of ammo which you will constantly you have to watch a ad. But everytime I do it restarts the app and counts that level as a lost so I have start again still with no ammo and a permanent undeserved loss recorded on that level. If this gets fixed I'll probably increase my rating.

Its a neat game but way, WAY too stingy with its ammo. You'll blow through the initial supply within the first 6 or 7 missions. You're practically forced to buy crates to get ammo as the free crate only drops once every 4 hours and only has a chance at giving you like 10 shots. Neat concept but extremely money hungry. If you don't want to spend cash, you won't play much at all without checking in every 4 hours for the free crate and stockpiling ammo.

I've played here and there since launch in 2016. Good idea, but half the gameplay is putting your phone down to watch ads for resources. Most of the ads end in an install screen without the option to close. As soon as you touch the screen, the random app starts installing. Very predatory even if "ads support game development".

Been playing off an on since 2017, had a review before about the forced ads. I bought the no ads because i genuinely remember enjoying this game despite the obvious stuff like ammo having to be rationed. Even though i bought the "no ads" i still got ads when clicking through the timer for my ship to return. As someone who loved this game here are some changes; Make the no ad feature actually work as said. Make getting ammo give slightly more. Make it easier to level low level heros at high lvl.
