I'll be honest. It's not a bad app for what it attempts to do. The assisted character creation is fantastic, even if you are unfamiliar with D&D anyone should be able to create a character effectively. Using the app during sessions to have fast and easy access to your character sheet and such works well. The reason I give it a low rating is, as a long time D&D fan, I would have to re-purchase all the books I've already collected and that's a big deal breaker for me. It's simply not worth it.

It's good. takes a minute to load sources even though they're downloaded to the device. It should have a character creator built in by this point along with homebrew creation. It should also have the encounter portion added to it by now as well. One more low point is the maps are not downloadable to device making you jump through hoops to do it from a desktop.

As I use this app more and more I am coming to really enjoy its usefulness. Good quick way to check up some information with all the reference material available, to create a quick character or, as I am learning, bringing everyone's characters in your campaign together. So far after a couple weeks of using, the only downside I have found is that I can't get credit/import the books I already own in paperback, into the app. (Too bad there wasn't a code or something).

Easy to use and all the contents of 5e at the tip of your finger (If you have purchased all the digital books). The app is not at the same stage as their web page , but it comes pretty close. It has been more of a stat tracker and bestiary for my campaigns. For DMs I recommend using a tablet so you can see all your players stats. I believe it works offline too. I would enjoy it more if you could create homebrew content on the app.

Enjoyed until a la cart purchases were removed. You now have to purchase the entire book to get the usable things out of them. Hasbro really made a mistake on this. All the features are great, using this app as a DM as well as a player has been very helpful in tracking character development and play time. Also nice to have digital dice for whe. you forget to pack them, or if you want to roll without your players hearing.

Great app, lacks some functionality of the site, but still very useful. That said, if you allow the app to run in the background for a little bit of time while either a book or a listing page is open, the app will say that it "failed to load" the page in question when you re-open it, and require you to pull it back up manually. Minor hassle only, but combined with the few missing features, enough to keep me from giving that 5th star.

The landing page is the store to buy overpriced digital books. The landing page should be your characters or active campaigns if the intent was for the players of D&D and not a money grab. Fuctionally, it doesn't save my rolled HP and keeps resetting it everytime I level up. Overall design is clunky and the app and dndbeyond website don't seem to sync up and have mulipple errors.

I have really enjoyed this app for years. But, the new update has a layout that is very bothersome. There's a "Pin" column in the skills page that seems to do nothing. Theres a new Speed, Defenses page that I think is useless. Your speed should be displayed on the main page close to your AC. Resistances, immunities, etc. should be below your Senses on the main page. And now theres a border around your portrait that says INSPIRATION at all times. Please reconsider these changes.

AMAZING! I'm running two different campaigns through this app & it couldn't be easier! My only complaints are that the map tool & the encounter tool often do not seem in sync, and the other complaint is that the PHB and DMG books are not free with the basics. Otherwise it's the best tool I've seen to simplify the maths, and make gameplay smoother. Don't wait; Get This App!

I had to remove 2 stars because I am unable to download any of my dice. It stops download around 1© and I am stuck using the standard dice. Pretty big thing for a game that relies heavily on dice rolls. This is not due to my internet connection or router. I have tried every way possible and have even uninstalled and reinstalled the app and the problem persists. Fix and I will get back 5 stars.

We've been using Beyond to play dnd with our friends, buying a la carte items to offset the cost for two players. Now, if we want functional items from the books, we have to buy two copies of a book we are only using for a fraction of the content? And on top of that, they have yet to fulfill the a la carte discount for the books we already bought material from. This is a problem. May return to paper character sheets.

While I don't approve of some of WotC's actions as of late, I still believe this to be a very convenient service. I was able to easily make a character sheet when I first got the app, with all the things I needed to help me start playing. Unfortunately, though, my phone's been stuck on the Updating Sources screen for quite a bit to the point where I might as well not bother with the app and instead go straight to the website.

Used to work, but recently, I've found that if you level up a character on the app it won't level up on the characters screen. If you select the button that takes you to the main page for character editing it will show your changes but once you go to click on the character page it won't show those changes. Since I can no longer use the app to keep track of my characters, this app has lost a lot of its usefulness.

Making everything more simple to play is great and all, and I was okay with paying for individual races and classes that I would use, but the recent decision to take that option away leaving only the option of buying the entire $30 digital copy of the book to get access to the race you want to play is extortionate. Greed is killing all enthusiasm of this app for me

the app is great, I have tons of characters on here, and it not only helps keep things organized, it let's me track which one is in what campaign. I feel bad that the company doesn't care much for us consumers and it working to get rid of the things we enjoy in favor of making us pay to start over with thier new edition and try to force us to play how they want instead of how we already enjoy it. but there's plenty of other games out there that we can switch over to.

Was enjoying this app (and even spending $ on it), but they recently got rid of bundling and a la carte purchases, so looks like I won't be spending any more. I don't want to spend $30 on a sourcebook so I can use 1 background or subclass that used to be available for like $2.99. You guys are going to lose so much revenue from this decision. Bring it back.

Almost everything is paywalled and quickly moving to subscription instead of buy it and done. It's already past the point of micro transactions as all of the costs are anything but micro, and I've paid hundreds of dollars already. Plenty more free or fully paid options out there that give just as much functionality. Used to be good, but now it's only good if you're willing to pay an arm and a leg. Good luck, WotC.

This is overall a great resource. Have all the rules and info I need at my fingertips and can make 10 characters for free while tracking all of their stats. Has tips for making characters and dice that you can roll if you left yours at home. Only down side I have come across so far is that UI in the books can be a little clunky and less than optimal to navigate. Having a button to push that would bring up the table of contents no matter what page I am on would be helpful.

While I would love to be able to run a long-distance game using comprehensive maps, miniatures that could be moves by both players and dm, as well the source books available, using nothing but this app, alas, I can not do that. that's my biggest wish for this app, and maybe one day I'll see something like that. but, dismissing that, this app is great for what you can use it for. having access to the information for creatures is great and the character creator is rather cool.

You used to be able to buy individual items (classes, subclasses, magic items, etc.) for $1.99 without having to buy a while book, but they removed that option and now, if you just want the artificer class, for example, you have to spend $30 for Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. This is very disappointing. I'm on a fixed income. I can't afford to pay $30 form something when I used to pay $1.99.
