I've never been able to get the app to launch on my phone. It launches (and I love the service) and I watch without issue on my Roku on the same WiFi connection. No issues with other streaming services on either device. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app twice. Will continue to watch on my Roku. Edit to add - I swear I left this review, tried to launch the app (one last time), and it worked. Go figure. I've changed my rating accordingly.

Best bang for your buck! Nearly perfect. Hence "nearly". Only a couple of imperfections such as the lack of episode descriptions. When clicking on any one of the videos within a series (which does provide only one very brief topic summary for the entire series) I'm expecting to read about this particular video to decide whether or not it's worthy of trying, but the video begins playing without an episode description. Secondly, having to watch the same 15 second ad at the beginning of every video even if I only watched less than one minute of the video before deciding to move onto the next video within the series, which once again starts off with only 1 of 2 same annoying Sprint or Toyota ads (while explaining these repetitive ads replace commercial interruption however, I'd prefer the option to pay twice as much in order to skip commercial interruption in addition to the repetitive ad played with every video, INCLUDING the 3-4 min video shorts. Just a suggestion/review because for $20 a year I'm content. Unlike those who forgot to cancel their subscription and are actually complaining about their own mistake. Nowhere does the free 7 day trial was foolproof.

I used this last year and now again. Fantastic deal for $19.99 a year. It has been perfect. Great content and not a single problem. I live way out there with no Wi-Fi. When I head to town I download and save a few hours of content with the grocery store Wi-Fi or wherever and it saves me tons of data. It did take 2 times to sign up with my card. When I used this last time, I had no idea their was even an app. I used my phones browser and it did freeze. I changed browsers.

The app is pretty darn similar to the website! The episode navigation and organization UI is a little bit clunky but it's a great start. I'm sure I'm not the first one to suggest this, but picture-in-picture popout player would be really awesome. Too often I need to tab out to another app, or I would simply prefer to listen only to audio and turn off my screen, but playback stops immediately. Overall nice work, keep it up!!

The programs are generally very good. However, trying to pause, rewind, or resume a program is a nightmare! Also, it takes so long to watch something with it constantly stopping then loading and playing a few seconds then stopping again to load more of the same program. It's not my internet connecting because other media apps run smoothly. I tend to get so frustrated waiting an hour or more to watch a 30-45 minute program that I just shut it off disappointed and upset.

The content itself is very solid with good variety. That being said the app interface extremely complicated, it takes a long time to load content (and yes, I have very good wifi- all my other streaming services work perfectly), and episodes tend to stop randomly. I don't think it's a worth it purchase at this point, but definitely has the potential to be.

I love the service, the content choices and quality of productions. However, the "Resume" watching button does not work, when I come back to continue watching on another day it starts back at the beginning every time. There is no forward or reverse option and it's close to impossible to figure out where I left off. Are there fixes in the works for these items?

This app can be so frustrating to use for the most basic of functionality. Simply trying to re-watch a show will have you pulling out your hair. It's near impossible to do so. The app also forces portrait mode when browsing. Like I said, the most basic functionality you expect in a streaming app, they haven't included it in this one. The shows and content available is awesome though!

The content is great, but the app is not. Its options do not work as they are presented. For example, I shouldn't have to add each episode of a series individually to my playlist. If you have a button that says "start series" it should automatically go from one episode to the next. Casting the app works mostly, but is glitchy at times. Browsing content is easy, but I think it could be condensed a little more, so more content is seen per page.

Great deal for a year's worth of subscription. Good programs, maybe not always Nat Geo quality, but so far have enjoyed what I've watched. I love documentaries. App on Roku won't let you select other episodes, but phone app has been easy and intuitive. (If you want to change episodes on Roku select the episode on your phone, play for 30 seconds, and then reopen it on Roku and it'll let you resume watching on it.)

Update : Edited to one star as app continues to be buggy. Can't revisit already watched ep as it reads the content as complete and moves to the next episode, then freezes. Will probably be cancelling subscription. Good content, bad code. Ugh. None of these issues new. Copy /pasted responses to " contact us" not a fix. Content was as expected and price is fair. Pulling star for tech issues with the app. Buggy and not user friendly. Continued play nearly always freezes. App needs work.

Have had it for about 3 years now. I absolutely love it. I can cast to my chromecast or watch on my phone. No ads, can browse and add shows to a watchlist. Never have buffering issues(but I do have fiber optic). Its a joy, well worth the price Edit: saw a lot of not great reviews after writing this. Cant say I've experienced their issues. I'm the u.s. and by the sounds of things maybe a lot of the not great reviews are from countries that limit content and make websites pay for priority speed

Background play isn't enabled! I can't believe it! I've been a sub for a while. I like to listen to documentaries before falling asleep and I have to keep my screen on and it consumes my battery every night. I'm unsubscribing. Uninstalling. When you have background play on, let me know. I'll subscribe again and Change my review. Thank you bye bye

The content is good but this is legitimately the worse streaming app there is. It feels like all of their budget went into marketing and funding shows. It's slow, the UI/UX is unintuitive, it's buggy, and crashes frequently. It also lacks basic features like being able to zoom to fit 21:9 aspect ratio, which sucks because they have content filmed in 21:9. I have a hard time believing any actual UI/UX designer or software engineer worked on this app. If they did, I'm embarrassed for you.

I have loved this subscription service so much for the past year. Recently the app has started telling me that "there is a problem connecting to Curiosity stream and to check my internet connection, but my connection is just fine with upload speed at around 45 on wifi and it says the same message when I use my phone data. If an update fixes the issue I'll change my review because otherwise I love the shows and the app is easy to use.

I love the content on Curiosity Stream especially for the price. The problem is I've found that the downloads feature is pretty poor. I will click "Download" on a video and if I leave the app, the download will seemingly stop. The worst part is, when you restart the download, it starts over. It does not save the content it supposedly already downloaded. This creates an infinite loop making downloads impossible unless you leave the app open during the whole process, which can be a while.

Good app, but when I want to come back later and watch a program again, it is a struggle to do so. The option of 'resume program' appears but having finished the program once, the minute counter is at the end of the film. I have to hurry to hold the time indicator & slide it back to the beginning of the program before a new show is automatically selected. It happens in a matter of seconds. Perhaps, like the Britbox app, you could have a prompt for resume program or start at the beginning.

App is basically unusable. Autoplay has never worked and still doesn't. Allows background play and pictute-in-picture, but if you use these settings, the app will close after about 5 minutes on its own. Its been this way for a while. What exactly is curiosity stream doing with the massive $35 price increase from last year to this year? As I write this, it literally shut down again because I listened for about two minutes without having the screen on. $50 a year for this garbage? I want a refund

I adore Curiosity Stream. The diversity of documentaries is wonderful! I really like the way certain documentaries are grouped into collections by content. The price is easily the best priced streaming service out there. All that to say, the app is not the most user friendly. It crashes constantly and the video can be really rough. Its not uncommon for a scene to freeze in the background and have the show continue in a smaller "screen" over the freeze. Also, the captioning content is abysmal.

I love all the content on CS, but I have a few things that are frustrating when I use the Roku app on my TV. One issue is that the closed caption button doesn't work to turn on subtitles. Another thing that would make the app better is to have a "keep watching" feature that would let users find their recently viewed content and resume where they left off.
