A cryptogram is a word puzzle that consists of a short piece of encrypted text. The cipher used to encrypt the text is a simple substitution of letters and is simple enough that the cryptogram can be solved by hand.

I love cryptograms. And this a good app for them. Its a nice simple interface without all the bells and whistles, which arent needed for a game like this. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I'm more of an oldschool gal, I like the physical component of a pencil and the newspaper or book and actually writing in your letters, and thus do not like that when you pick a letter to change it changes all of them at once&makes me feel like I'm cheating&solves the puzzle to fast.

This is a code breaker game you're trying to figure out what relatively well known phrase the given letters stand for. Some of the puzzles can get frustrating but there are hints and a "reveal incorrect" tool to help. You can also give feedback on puzzles (too hard, too easy, etc). Overall a very fun puzzle game. Things to be aware:very English language focused.you can't replay completed puzzles. Negative: it's unclear how "scoring" works.

Some of the quotes are challenging, others are quite easy. Once you get started it is difficult to stop. The puzzle fills in the letters very quickly when you get them right. There's a rush as you complete the quote, and words appear in blank spaces. Suddenly you're done and reading the thought of a famous person. Mystery solved. On to the next one. :)

These are fun quotes to solve. Most I can get under 2 minutes, and the majority of those under 1 minute. A few have taken 10 or more minutes. I haven't explored the game much, just gi from one puzzle, to the next. Not sure if there is a way to make it more or less challenging. But I do enjoy the game and quotes a lot.

Love the app sofar, has good quotes and they are very solvable. The puzzles are pretty easy in the beginning to get you used to ways to solve, then they become harder as you go along. Some are quite challenging, but if you get stuck, you can always use the hint button. It also has a feature to show mistakes, if desired. Loving it so far.

Out of all the cryptograms apps I have installed, this is definitely by far my favorite. Hats off to the developer for releasing this app for free. It runs seamlessly, has a pleasant design, and includes quotes from a broad range of topics. Once you reach the puzzles from later levels, the cryptograms can become quite challenging, which is why I would personally like an option for users to "star" certain quotes or save them for later.

Really solid cryptogram game. The puzzles have a good difficulty variety. I appreciate being able to configure the settings so I can change the font and background color. Most of the time, the solutions aren't horrible puns or really forced jokes like the Cryptoquips you get in the daily paper. Honestly, the only thing I'd change is, sometimes I feel as if there aren't enough initial "free" hints.

So far the best cryptogram game I've found on the Play Store. The puzzles are pretty good. Optionally it can give you one letter from the puzzle at the beginning. You didn't do it if we shows you what letters are possible based on what you've already used. It does have a major bug: if auto advance is turned on it will go to the wrong letters. This can be frustrating as it will cause you to type the wrong letters all over the place.

Very fun and enjoyable. A perfect game to play in the car, on the bus or anywhere! I love how it's a relaxed game, and though they keep track of score and time, it still feels like you can take your time to solve a puzzle. This is fun to play with friends too, and it's the perfect amount of challenge. Honestly one of the best games I've ever played. One suggestion though is to improve the interface. It is simply too bland, also the marker type font is not very suitable for this game. Perhaps you can add a bit more color, simple animations, and perhaps some sound. All in all though 5/5 and would recommend.

I have loved cryptograms since childhood, and was so excited to discover this app! I've downloaded it to every phone, for several years, now. A simple, efficient, no-frills Cryptogram app; you can't ask for more! It runs smoothly, is easy to navigate, and is FREE! I enjoy uncovering the great quotes, which you can solve by category/subject. (Possibly by difficulty, too, but I don't recall. I just keep tapping the "NEXT UNSOLVED PUZZLE" button, & haven't looked at the home screen for months!) 5*

Hi! I was enjoying your app which I downloaded today, when, all of a sudden it started revealing letters without a hint request. It will not allow me to reset the puzzle back to all blank spaces. I have checked "Remove Reveals" and then pressed Reset, but it does not do anything. I understand this a Beta? version so I guess you are working to remove the bugs. It is a fine app and it deserves good ratings. Thank you.

Great game! There appears to be an issue with Puzzle 1432. After completing it, it won't clear. I tried it several times, double-checked it for correctness & completeness, cleared and redid it repeatedly, and even reset all the puzzles; but the problem remains. Other than that, you've created a fantastic game for hours and hours of fun. I'm looking forward to more puzzles!! Thank you!

A virtual book FULL of puzzles! Literally hundreds of cryptograms from various people on a wide assortment of topics with, my favorite part, absolutely no ads!! It has a gradually increasing difficulty, yes, there are puzzles with not a single letter to guide you but so far, I've done a few hundred, there have been no errors, no glitches, no unfair slang or other curveballs. There's no score built in, no achievements or that type of fluff, just straight puzzles to relax or kill time with.

This is cleanly formatted, with a nice variety of quotations. My only request might be more than two theme color options. I am really enjoying this app, it is both enthralling, and quickly rewarding. Edit and Addendum: New colors, fonts and settings are great! I still love this as a relaxing word puzzle app, and use it often. I feel like it keeps my vocabulary skills from deteriorating. Thanks for the good work!

Simple in design but seriously makes you think. The puzzles get tricky but you feel pretty great when you solve one quickly. My only complaint (and it's honestly not a complaint) is that there's no button to have the game solve a particularly difficult puzzle. It's not an issue because you can always skip the puzzle and come back later! Update: 18/11/20 I still play this game all the time! It's the one app game I've carried over from old phones.

I'm a puzzle lover, all kinds of them. I recently downloaded a different app that had several different puzzles on it but the only one I enjoyed was the cryptogram. So I decided to search for a strictly cryptogram puzzle app. I've been addicted to this one ever since. Great app, great puzzles. Only complaint was the high price to get rid of the ads (I hate ads with a passion). Otherwise a great game.

Downloaded the app today and have been playing for a while now. The puzzles vary in difficulty, most of them being decently challenging. Ads are not disruptive, one playing after every few puzzles, and all I've encountered so far are skippable after five seconds. Often ads in apps are aggressive, in your face, and annoying, but they're hardly a bother in this case and are, in my opinion, perfectly reasonable for a free app. I've encountered no bugs so far. Overall, a great experience!

I love this game. I always wait to post a review until I've played the game for a while, at least a few weeks. I'm on puzzle #65, and the app has stayed consistent and fun. Most of the puzzles are challenging but not too hard, and some are easier. THE ADS AREN'T EVERYWHERE! They're only between puzzles, and you don't need to watch one for a hint if you get stuck.

I don't like the fact that my score is based on how fast I decipher a puzzle. Usually I'm multitasking while playing or sometimes just have to put it down completely before finishing. I also like time to look at the word and letter pattern. Also I like to decide what word I want to work on, I don't like the way it automates to the next letter in a word. Or will repeat the letter 8 times in row if im not very careful and quick with my fingers. Thanks for the game.

Great game with minor flaws. The quotes are engaging and entertaining. Game play is intuitive and enjoyable. Ads are not too intrusive. In a game like this, it is important there be no punctuation errors, but these types of errors are common and impede solving the puzzles. The categories are helpful for solving, but terms like funny and inspirational are not topics... merely moods, leaving the topics to be virtually anything. The keyboard colors could be more distictive.
